Really need some support - In a major rut
Hey there, my name is Isaac, i'm 22 years old. I was obese my entire lift and always wanted to be slimmer. 2 years ago, I've decided that I've had enough and started eating healthy and working out daily. I dropped roughly 100 pounds (from 327 to 230)and built some muscle in the process. I maintained 230 for an entire year and at 6'4 tall I was very happy. I was even doing P90X for a bit and was so proud of myself.

About 7-8 months ago I got a new job in the mental health field working as a special ed school instructor. As you can imagine, the job is mentally exhausting. I love what I do and I give it my all, but it took a toll on my physical life. I have gained about 25 pounds of fat in these months and now i'm back at 250ish. I am very unhappy w/ myself as I haven't worked out in over 3 months AT ALL! I used to thrive on my workouts, but now i'm always tired, lazy, and making excuses to hit the gym. I have an expensive $70 NYSC membership which I never use and it bums me out. However, after work, i am so tired that I just wanna go home and watch TV. I used to be so health conscious and only eat healthy foods, now I eat pizza, ice cream, and other crap that a year ago i wouldn't have even glanced at. I am unhappy with this change and don't know how to go on about it. I end work at 4 daily, which isn't bad at all, but like I said, the EXHAUSTION is killing me. I pass out every night at 9PM just to be ready for the next morning.

I want to change, I really do, but I've lost touch of who I used to be. Eating healthy, working out, taking vitamins, it all seems like a distant memory.

I really need some support and perhaps a few pointers on overcoming my struggles. I thrive to be the person I was a year ago.

You have to start somewhere. I've never been a big fan of working out after work for the same reasons you state. You need to wake up an hour earlier in the morning and do the workouts then. It's that simple. Didn't say it was easy but you get up (hard) warm up (getting better) work out (feeling really good) then do your day. Your exhaustion is probably caused because of your lack of exercise and it works in a vicious circle.
I like to read a few posts on these boards just before my workout for some extra motivation but in the end the mental discipline of just working out every day is the hard part for everyone.

Hi Isaac. I would love to help you. Have you ever been in a challenge group? Its a group of people all doing the same workout in their own home. We encourage and motivate each other. Some groups have mini contests for extra motivation. We offer tips and advice. If this is something you are interested in, I'd be happy to give you more information. I run my challenge groups through my facebook page. Its a private group so anything you post will not show up in your newsfeeds. Visit my page at https://www.facebook.com/AnnBesterciBESTever.ref=hl. Once there send me a private message stating you are from the BeachBody message boards.

Let's get you feeling good about yourself again. emoticon

Hello,
First off, congrats on the 100 lbs. That is MAJOR dedication. You should be proud. And I wouldn't get down. You ate unhealthy for a while but recognize its time to get back to it. If you would like to do P90x again, I am currently hosting a group here:

We would love to have you join the group! Let me know if you are interested or if you have any questions.

Mike

I know exactly what you are talking about, I have done the same thing in the past. I have lost 80 lbs or more three times in my life right now I am in the best shape of my life and since deciding to get fit I have lost 121 lbs and 16 inches off my waist. This time I have kept it off and am going to keep it off. What I would say is to go back and remember what made you decide to get fit last time. Think of that in your mind and remember it when you go to workout. Also, it will be hard at first but you can workout before going to work, that is what I do, after a week or so the waking up early is nothing and you are good to go. If you want to check out my story you can go to the home page here and click on the quarterly voting link. Down at the bottom I am Justin B.
