Low impact- Next workout DVD, whats best?
Hi everyone, I am doing slimin6 (week 5) and I am already loving the results. I am looking to move onto something a bit meatier to really work off my mid section, but I can't do high impact due to a bad knees. I was considering Chaleen Extreme or P90X but I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on what might be a better option? Thanks. Xx

P90X may put a little bit of a pounding on your knees. I can't speak for CLX as I have never done any of those workouts so someone else might be able to give you advice on that. You can also take a look at 10-Minute Trainer, doing the 3 workout a day schedule would be a 30 minute workout that should be OK for your knees. My wife did that and lost about 6 inches total in four weeks.

Hey!
Congrats on being 5 weeks into Slim in 6!! That is awesome!! Is your goal to lose weight, tone up, or both? I LOVE ChaLEAN Extreme. I've done it and P90X and agree with the guy the posted above me--P90X can be tough on your knees. ChaLEAN is really good about showing modifications and the cardio is not a lot of jumping which helps protect the knee. You can use weights or bands with ChaLEAN as well. I reached my goal weight using it and TurboFire. TurboFire is high impact, but they have 2-3 great low-impact workouts you could eventually get and work in too. emoticonI think you'd like Chalene Johnson the trainer since you've had a woman on the dvds before. Are you following a meal plan too?

Talk to you soon!

Hiya, thank you both so much for your responses. Does the P90X also have a low impact option? I am prepared to push myself as I have caught the bug I just don't want to do any damage. I am following the eating plan and I have lost more weight and inches in 4 weeks than I did in a year of WW. The comments from people are amazing as I am feeling progress is a bit slow, as I now have the bug. I am aware that at 40 it's now or never to get into shape. xx

If you are looking for something with weights and resistance training or just really want to do P90X dont let the knees hold you back. I did 3 rounds of P90X, and I needed to be aware of the possiblity of injury. 4 years ago or so I had thrown out a disc in my back and was vey worried about that and didnt like cardio because it would cause knee pain.

I modified everything I needed to. P90X uses lots of jumping jacks to warm up - I ran in place (and not high knees either). Instead of Plyo X I did Cardio X and kept things low impact when needed.

I dont know about Chalene Extreme but I have done Turbo Fire and found that harder on my knees than P90X. I'm 46 and started this journey April of 2012. You can do this.. I would choose the one that you really want to do (you'll be motivated to do it) and modify, modify, modify what you need to be safe and injury free but still get in a great workout.
