What does it take to get toned??
I no longer live close to a gym, so when I got snowed in for the winter this year and couldn't run (I like to train for half marathons) I decided to do the 10 minute trainer program in my living room. I just completed 30 days of the Accelerated Results program, and NO CHANGES in my body tone or inches. I'm pretty disappointed, but then again, even when I'm running 40 miles a week I still have flab and cellulite. Maybe my body just CAN'T get toned?

I'm going to keep the program going (snow not melted yet) and try doing 4 videos a day instead of 3. I don't think I'm in super shape, but 3 videos apparently wasn't enough. Thoughts?

Thanks!!

As a runner already, the 10 minute trainer is probably not going to get the job done for you. To get toned, you'll want to be under probably 12% body fat. To get there you'll need to have a handle on your diet and how many calories you are putting into your body while getting that heart rate up with exercise and doing resistance work of some sort to further develop lean mass. It is sort of dependent on your full set of goals. 10 minutes a day, in my opinion, is just not going to cut it. You'll want to do one of the more intense programs such as P90X or perhaps Insanity.

80% of the results come with nutrition. Are you tracking down you nutrition; counting your calories and adjusting your macros?

Trust me if you don't have your nutrition dialed in, it will take a lot of time to see some changes in your body just by working out.

Hello

Yay....a Half Marathoner! I've just completed my first Half and have signed up for three more already this year. Getting ready to run my first FULL in Paris in 2014.

I see two things with your question. First, you CAN get the tone, but that first comes from your nutrition. Secondly, if you a Half runner....TMT isn't enough for you. Heck, if you're doing 3 and now 4 DVDs, I'd recommend getting Insanity. The first month, each of the DVDs are about 40 min.

I'd be happy to answer in more detail if you like. I'd also like to help with your nutrition. Do you use My Fitness Pal or any free programs like that to track your food consumption?
