Ground Turkey Vs Ground Beef
Was wondering if anyone had any insight into this. You Can purchase 90/10 of either of these. They have the same calories, same protein. Is it the fat in the turkey is better for you.

Hello

How funny that I just came across your post. I'm making turkey spaghetti right now using organic sauce and noodles. Turkey is more lean than ground beef. Growing up in Montana and spending most of my time on a farm, I was a total beef girl. Turkey is much lighter than beef as well. I used to eat lean beef (round or flank) steak at work, but couldn't figure out why my running was suffering in the afternoon. I changed to chicken and turkey and now I have no problems.

Hope this helps. If you have more questions, feel free to contact me any time.

Stephanie

If they're both 90% 10% then the turkey isn't any more lean than the beef. I believe, though, that turkey has less saturated fat and less cholesterol than the equivalent amount of beef, so that would be a benefit.

I dont eat beef much at all. I never was a steak person but I really like beef ribs and burgers. I started eating turkey burger several years ago & I saw a huge difference in my energy level. Beef is so heavy and take so long to digest. Go for the healthier choice..emoticon

I really love ground Bison. It's very lean. If you grill it definitely lean more toward rare than well done. It dries out if you cook too fast and long.

They are both the same.

4 oz of either are 170 calories
8g of fat

beefs saturated fat is .5 more which is negligible
turkey has slightly more sodium

both take the same amount of time to digest.
