Any plateau tips?
Any plateau tips?
2/3/13 8:26 AM
I did P90x off and on for the past year, lost about 40 pounds. I'm currently 5'7" and 165lbs. I'm looking to lose about 15-20 pounds, I just want a flat stomach emoticon I tried p90x again about two weeks ago (after a few months of doing nothing) and I got no results, even following the diet to a T. I'm hoping that Insanity will get me off this plateau and help lose the last of this weight. I went shopping and got all the stuff for the diet and plan to follow it. I did the fit test yesterday and wow, if this doesn't kick start some weightloss I don't know what will. Today starts day 2, any tips on weight loss or overcoming this plateau with insanity? Thanks!

Hi, how many calories are you eating now? What's your age?

I'm 21. I eat around 1200 calories a day right now. I think I'll end up having to up that with Insanity. I ordered Shakeology yesterday and plan on drinking that for breakfast and using a whey protein powder for post workout.

Hey!

You'll love Insanity! I have done both P90X and Insanity is by far my favorite!! emoticon It'll definitely help! I'm 24 and did it at 22 so if you have any questions just let me know. emoticon I think you'll have to up your calories as well. I'd say no less than 1400-1500 a day. Does that sound reasonable? Maybe if you kept eating like you have been (providing the 1200 has been healthy) and add your shakeology as a snack? What flavor did you get?

Also here are a few more tips I go to when I reach a plateau. ;)!

1) Streamline your diet -- focus in our whole foods (foods that come from the ground or have a mother). These foods typically are found around the perimeter of grocery stores. The aisles of grocery stores are typically stocked with processed foods you should avoid.

2) Keep a log of your daily food intake -- keeping a food journal will show you where your diet pitfalls may be and allows you to overcome them. My favorite is MyFitnessPal because they also have an app on my iPhone. I can track each meal easily wherever I am.

3) Cardio workout in the morning-- As little as a 20 minute workout with moderate cardio exercise can be enough to boost your metabolism & help you start busting the exercise plateau!

4) Mix up your calorie intake -- By mixing up your calorie intake, you shock your body. Add 100-200 calories Monday, subtract them on Tuesday, and return to your regular calorie intake on Wednesday. Repeat. Note: I try to put my heavier calorie days when I know my workout is harder.

5) Drink plenty of water -- If you are dehydrated your body will not be able to function as well as it could.

6) Make sure you are getting at least 7 hours a night of sleep and recovering from your hard workouts! You are crushing it; you deserve a break! Your body needs rest!

7) Find someone or something that motivates you. I started an accountability group when I started Insanity to help keep me excited and motivated each day. We share meal plans, recipes, tips, questions, etc still! It has helped a TON! We also do amonthly challenge and giveaway to someone crushing their goals. Would you like to join us? Its a free, private group on facebook.

Good luck!! You'll get there! emoticon
