Alternate Exercises for P90X
Hi All,
I just started P90X and I thought I saw somewhere a list of alternate exercises for the P90x exercises but now I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know where to find these? For example, variations on the exercises in the videos.

I don't know of "alternate" exercises, but there are modifications on all of the exercies. Those you'll see in the videos. There is at least one person performing a modification.

Is that what you're asking?

I could have sworn that I saw 2 or 3 pages that said for x exercise, you can do y instead. I have seen them on the videos as well, I just thought it was also written down somewhere.
Maybe I'm losing it emoticon.

You saw them on the P90X videos? I've done that program 3x, but I got my videos back in 2010. Interesting.....Let me ask my fellow coaches and see if they know anything different....

Hi Scott,

P90X does have modifications to exercises In the resistance video they show people using bands and you can modify the plyo exercises or sub cardio x. What exactly are you looking for? Are looking to modify a particular exercise or workout? If you can provide some more info, I can help.

Hi,
I'm already using the bands instead of pull-ups, since I can't do those but some of the other exercises like upright rows with bands is starting to hurt my wrist. So there is no written down list of alternate exercises? I must have been dreaming it emoticon.

Just received a response from my Team Phoenix coaches.

"Nope", there are no alternate exercies. He just purchased his P90X 6 months ago,so nothing has changed since I received mine.

Maybe you are refering to the "worksheets" you use to track the number of reps you do for your exercies?

Scott,

Having completed the P90X Certification course last year, I can tell you there are a few moves where they recommend modifying them now. One move would be in one of the shoulder workouts. There is a move called a Pour Fly. They recommend that now you just do the fly portion of the move and leave out the pour. Another move is in the legs workout (I forget the name of it) but you're in a lunge position and roll forward. They recommend taking out the roll portion of that move. Those are the only 2 moves I can think of that they specifically said should be modified now.

P90X provided the DVDS nad they show mods on the DVD's. There is also a book included, that explains exercises with modifications, but usually with a band for pull ups.

Again, if you give me the specific exercises you are looking for alternatives for, I can help you.

For example.
Row - do seated row with band, close grip or wide grip row with dumbbells, dumbbell pull overs. If bent over rows are hurting your wrist, try relaxing your grip. Let your back do the work, not your arms.....by relaxing your grip, it will take the stress of your wrists and arms and force the back ( lats /rhomboids ) to to what they are intended to do with this exercise.
