I have seen alot of threads out there (not so much on this site but when trolling around for feedback) about how Insanity is all built on a marketing ploy. But when I read through the articles, I inevitably get to a part in the "story" where the person gave up and did not even make it the 60 days. "My knees can't take it, I am too old, can't follow the meal plans, my form was off, etc. etc."
Here is my experience so far and I am ONLY in week 2. YES, you are sore, your legs ache, one of my knees hurts more than the other. YES, the meal plan is kind of tough, but only in resetting your habits and body to eat 5 times per day. The meal plan for Insanity is one of the most liberal, unrestrictive plans I have ever followed. YES, it is probably easier to do this routine if you are in your 20s, but so what? Isn't everything? YES, some of the exercises are designed for tip top fitness gurus (jumpin jack push-ups and level 2 exercises pop into mind for me) but again who cares? You have to try or how will you ever know. I can ALMOST do a moving push-up without falling down now. THIS is progress!
If this was EASY all of us would be a size 4 or 6, or whetever your "ideal" happens to be, with very little body fat and the physique of a Greek God, but this is real life people. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not take the word of anyone who has not even actually finished the program. I have not lost a bit of weight yet, but I can tell you that after only 9 workouts, I can already feel myself getting stronger. I make it longer through the intervals without needing breaks, and I honestly can say my core feels stronger and tighter already.
I cannot vouch for the other programs, as Insanity is the only BeachBody program I have tried so far, but, I honestly feel like if I stick with it for the 60 days, I will see dramatic results. I am going to be sore and tired for the next two months, but who cares? I will probably survive.
