Looking for a good heart rate monitor!

Hey Insanity users! We are looking for a decent heart rate monitor. We prefer strapless and something around under $80. Any suggestions?

Check out the scosche rhythm or the scosche mytrek, my wife and I have those and are fans, they get worn on your arm and bluetooth connect to a smart phone so there are no wires. the Rhythm is a little more expensive than the mytrek but seems to be much more accurate. Both are under 100 bucks. As a matter of fact last I check best buy had the rhythm on sale for 80.

Hello

I know you are looking for strapless (I was too when I started to browse), but I'll be honest, I wasted my money because "touch" HRMs just aren't as accurate as the strap. After a few workouts, you won't even notice the strap AND you don't have to worry about touching the device to ensure accuracy.

Polar FT7 is commonly used by many of our coaches and teammates and is a reliable HRM. It's around $70 on Amazon.

Good Luck!

I'd had the same question on a different thread. Beachbody sells two models, one strapless and one with chest strap. I looked for these two models on Amazon to see if there were reviews of them - they are actually Bowflex/Nautilus products - and there were so many reviews from all over the map pro and con that I couldn't figure out if there was a consensus recommendation.

I'm leaning toward the HRM with Strap you see on the TBB shopping page, equipment and gear/health monitors/.

Beware03

DEFINATELY get the one with a strap. I thought it would be uncomfortable, but it really isn't. You don't notice it once you start working out.

Which "brand" did you decide on?

I agree, you don't even notice the strap. I would recommend the Polat FT4. I've been using it now for 6 months or so, and haven't had much of a problem with it. It's pretty accurate, and it's nice to get a accurate measurement of your calorie burn for a specific workout. Ultimately it's up to you, I would do plenty of research and than decide for yourself. Good luck.

I have the Polar FT7 and I love it! Accidentally bought the men's version, but it fits just fine. I've been using it since December with no problems. The sensor snaps off of the chest strap so it can be washed easily. It stores training files to review later, keeps up with avg and max heart rate, and calories burned. I can't workout without mine. I bought it on Amazon for around $70. The best heart rate monitors have chest straps, which you get used to after about 2 seconds.

In case anyone runs into this. I really like this entry level monitor from Polar. I purchased for my P90x routines and it was cheap, accurate and I did read lots before purchasing. I am really happy with it. At the moment it is about $60 on Amazon. It retails for about 120 but I woulnt pay that much for it as you can easily find it online for less. See the link. Polar RS 100
