220g of protein/day?
nutrition beast body beast
2/8/13 11:06 AM
I just did my calculations for beast
at 173.9lbs, 11.9%bf, i need to consume 2200 cals
40% of that would be 220g of protein.
Doesn't that seem a bit much? one of the beachbody coach sites i saw said that your body only processed about 200g/day, so 220 would be overkill, right?
And also, how the heck to i get 220g of protein in without drowning in powder?!

You dont need 220g protein.
You need 2g per kilo of body weight.
You are 78kg, so you can get away with 160g protein.

Ya i usually go by the old rule, 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. You can go over that. But 220 for your weight is a bit high. I would add a bit more healthy carbs and fats to your diet instead!

35 35 30 would give 193g of protein. Still seems high, right?

What's better, healthy fats (peanut butter, olive oil) or healthy carbs (berries, whole grains)?

What was beachbody thinking in the first place, people would really be eating 220g of protein a day? Just doesnt seem right.
So what would be optimal for me to maintain the muscle and really finally get those abs to pop?

While you're cutting it might be right, you need more protein during a cut.
Healthy fats > healthy carbs. But you need carbs when you work out.
Also dont bother with the % macros.

so better peanut butter and olive oil than pasta sauce, if fats better than carbs.

So what's my optimal balance? I want to have a goal, right?

Dont bother with balance percentages, its a waste of time and annoying to count.
Just make sure you get enough calories and proteins.
Ive heard some people recommend 3g protein per kilo of body weight, but i think thats too much.
You can eat 180g of protein during a cut and do weight lifting with losing minimal muscle.

Remember what the point of the Beast Phase is. The point of the Beast Phase is to CUT FAT while preserving as much muscle as possible that you have already gained. You will absolutely LOSE muscle in the Beast Phase if you follow the Book of Beast, but you will also lose fat.

Just take a deep breath for a moment and just ask your self what your goals are? Are you happy with the amount of muscle you have put on so far and are you ready to get shredded? If so then the Beast Phase diet makes sense for you.

If you are not happy with the amount of muscle you have put on and you want to put on more muscle then why do you plan to go on this diet? I tell my clients in this category to go ahead and do the Beast Phase (or Tempo) workouts and re-run the numbers using the Build and Bulk calculation so they can keep on Bulking using this Macro (50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat). The Book Of Beast will talk about just staying in the Bulk Phase if you are in this category but I disagree. I like switching up the workouts...and just think about it. The "I Don't Knows" and the "Scap Traps" are absent in the Bulk Phase (I tell my clients to add them anyway). I like MONSTER TRAPS!

Or you can just be normal and do a 6-9 month bulk, a 2 month bulk followed by a 1 month cut is just dumb.

And the "i dont knows" are called shrugs....

So I am conflicted. I really want to look cut. I want my abs to show.
But I like the added size i've put on.
When i think about it, the beast phase is 21 days.
How much muscle am i gonna lose in 21 days? But conversely, am i gonna see some abs when i shed the fat?

It depends on your deficit.
It depends on how much fat you got.
If you cut down you might become skinny fat too so you wont see your abs that way.
You should just go to a real gym, do a 6-8 month bulk and think about six pack in 1-2 years.

2 month bulk and a 1 month cut is retarded.

wiicera,
The point here is i am trying to follow bodybeast. I need to get help with the BODY BEAST program. the program calls for the schedule.
I asked 2+ months ago about adding some muscle but seeing more abs. I was told to stick with the program.
I need to know what to do with the program to help me get to my goals.
Otherwise i didnt need the program in the first place!

You need to do a normal bulk / cut phase.
Even in this program.

No, i think you should continue on a calori surplus for a few months, atleast 6 months. And then do a proper cut.
Because thats how body building works, you bulk on a surplus for 6-9 months, and then you do a cut phase where you lose the fat you gained on the bulk and then do that over and over.
