Vix87:
Hi guys
I've been doing insanity for 5 weeks now and I love it!
Unfortunately on day 1 of month 2 I've injured my back. It was during the last 20 mins on the side suicide jumps my form was off and I landed funny.
The next day I could hardly get out of bed and had to take the day off work I was in that much pain. The following day I felt fine though and had a full range of movement just a little tighter than usual.
So I pushed play that day to do max plyo (omg squat push ups?!?! Shaun T is evil lol) I did about 20 mins but my back went again during a jump.
That was yesterday and now I don't know what to do. I'm so upset about it as I had committed so much to this programme and was looking forward to seeing the month 2 results. I need to rest my back for more than a day but what would people advise? Should I continue in a few days or should it be weeks? Do I pick up where I left off or start again from the beginning? I can't believe how upset I've got about having to stop, I guess I'm one of those people who feels like a failure if I can't complete something in the set timescale :-(
I'm 25, in pretty good shape and no previous injuries if that helps. Any advise/encouragement would be appreciated
Hi Vix87,
I'm sorry to hear your back keeps giving your trouble. First, I would eliminate or modify the exercise that keeps giving your back trouble. Sounds like the jumping is part of the problem. So modify those to steps or eliminate all together.
I would then look at the cause. Do you have proper form? To you have a weak core, muscle imbalances,etc.... You might just need to make some corrections in your form and do some corrective stretching to fix the issue you are having. Feel free to reach out to me if you need some help.
