ENGAGE AND LET’s DO THIS!!!!!!

First things first:

Nutrition
If you want to see great results, you have to focus on your nutrition as much as the workouts. I will be following the Combat recommended macros and calories for the program. Nutrition plays a key role in how you will reach your goals and attain the new and better you! Use the Nutrition guid that came with your program, for optimal results. Beachbody has put a lot of resources into these plans to optimize your results. Over time you will learn new eating habits that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.

Shakeology is a great way to meet many of your nutritional needs! As a meal or a snack it fuels your body with everything it needs in order to Stay With The Fight, everyday!

Track your progress
Where are you now? Where do you want to be? Have Goals!

Nothing is more important or motivating than to see where you started and how you are progressing along the way! It is so CRUCIAL that you do the following BEFORE you begin:

Take your Measurements
Take your before & after pictures

Motivation
Nothing is more important than motivation. Times will get tough and there are going to be days that you feel like you cannot get up or you feel too tired at night to workout. This is where your Coach and this thread help out. By joining this thread you will find like minded people that will push you and look for help from you to be pushed. You are doing either a 63 or 90 day program and it helps to have not just your Coach in your corner but a whole team ready to cheer you on and waiting for you to cheer them on.

Workouts
WARNING: The first few weeks are rough, but after you make it through them things get much better.

Too many people give up during the first few weeks because they think it is to tough. Everyone that has done any of these programs has had moments of doubt. Just KEEP PUSHING PLAY.

Pre-Workout
All the workouts are intense! You need the right fuel to “Bring It!” Your pre-workout meal actually begins the day before. So again, a solid nutrition plan is vital. A pre-workout meal about an hour before is important. Be warned: if you ENGAGE in a cardio workout too close to the pre-workout meal you may lose it.

If you workout first thing in the morning like myself, I advise a small snack (I like a cup of black coffee and 1/2 a banana).

Post-Workout
Recovery: After an intense P90X workout, it is vital to recover the right way. By adding a Recovery Drink immediately after your workout, you will significantly decrease the amount of soreness you will experience while your body recovers. Intense exercise will burn off glycogen stores in the muscles which leaves the body without its primary source of energy. You need to replace these glycogen stores immediately with a 4:1 ratio of quality, fast acting carbs and quality protein. Plus low blood sugar levels in the brain will lead to fatigue, irritability, lack of concentration, depression, etc.

The P90X Recovery Drink will replenish your muscles with glycogen, you will not only avoid muscle breakdown, but you will promote muscle growth and keep your energy levels up. I have used the recovery drink from day one and I highly recommend it.

Come to the thread every day and post your daily accountability and questions and before you know it you will be at 20, then 40 and finally 63 days.

This thread is a great way to meet like minded, motivated people that are going through exactly what you are going through. They will help you stay accountable and motivated, and you will keep them accountable and motivated! Everyone comes from different backgrounds and will be able to share tips and information that has helped them and could help you as well.

A Little about my journey: September 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary, I found myself eating at a restaurant, and making a pig of myself. We were invited to a local eatery to have a meal, honoring those of us in the fire service. Upon returning to my station, I unbuttoned my top button to relieve the pressure of my tight uniform pants and felt so ashamed that I paid tribute to my fallen comrades by eating myself sick. It was at that moment I decided to make a drastic change in my life.

I dropped some weight through better eating, some exercise, and in December I decided to Start and complete P90X2. By March 28 of 2012, that mission was accomplished. I then began a round of P90X/Insanity, and have since completed that hybrid twice.

To date I have lost 57 pounds and shed 67% of my body fat, gotten off blood pressure and cholesterol medication, and have never looked back. I was recently won the Beachbody Challenge Daily Prize, for my transformation story. Below are my before and after pictures.

I am geared toward successful fitness, and I dedicate my time to bringing others along for the ride. Join us for a support filled round of any program that you are currently doing, WE WILL KEEP YOU ON TRACK!

Results start here, join us to get in the best shape of your life!

I'm here yippeee with emails yippeeee!!

I had signal but didn't know where to post lol.... Today was Strech-X, I find it funny that I really like this but hate yoga so much. I think part of it is yoga is so much faster. By the time I get into position he is already moved on so I'm always a move behind or rushing to get through. Anyway I burned a whopping 275 calories during the hour. I know there is a method to this madness but I wish as much as I am enjoying this I could do more strenuous workouts everyday to burn those calories. I'm not going to get anywhere with all these 200 burn days. Today finished the forth week so I start the new workouts this week and I'm ready!!! Coach I think our first assessment was correct and I do need to be at a higher calorie per day. Every time I go over I feel better, if I stay t the 2600 I drag some. What you think? Should I just go over a little each day or just leave it be until we switch phases or whatever it's called. Glad everything is back up and running...

Made the leap (again), lol ...we're SOOO very mobile.

Not getting emails of each post ... but just for info, why do we WANT emails for every post? I'm missing the purpose.

Thx for the encouragement, Coach.

No, Simone, John's not my dad ... he's just a very GOOD dad ... way active in his kids' lives.

James: We need to take the low burn days with the high burn days. Yoga and stretch workouts really help you to recover, when you recover, that is when muscles grow and heal, then we start the process over again with a tough segment. Great job!

Jill: WOOT, you Beat Scott again!

JJ: LOL, Glad you made it. The e-mail updates are great for keeping up with the posts. I personally use them as a tool to make sure that I don't miss any questions that need answering, and it motivates me when I am hours away from doing a workout, to just flat out do it!! WOOT

Hey Team,
Been on 4 day weekend.... Hoping to rest and get this rib in better shape. Not much better, going to go ahead and try my Combat in the morning! See how it feels. Thinking its time for a dr appt. Today is 10 days with it. Thinking I may pull out yoga or stretch x tomorrow evening see if that may help as well since its feeling more musculoskeletal pain. Anyway, had a great time with family this weekend. Crossing my fingers the emails work here (=!

Hey y'all. I have been one busy gal lately. Y'all are killin it though!! Glad I was still getting email updates. I haven't been to the message boards to read in a few days. But here I am.

I thought us going down a surgeon at work would mean I would have more free time. Wrong!!! We have been swamped and tomorrow is a coworkers last day. Really upset about that. We had gotten really close over the last year and looked out for each other. So this past week has been trying.

My workouts have stayed right on track though. There is never any question on that. Nutrition on the other hand has been deplorable. I have had fast food, fried food, even the dreads Girl Scout cookies. Now not every meal has been bad, I tried to keep myself in some sort of check. But didn't do a good enough job. I have even had heartburn for the past two nights. I haven't had heartburn in months. So I know my body is rebelling. So I have tomorrow meals all ready to go. Going to try and make an effort to stay on track tomorrow. Taking it one day at a time.

Have a great night y'all.

Ashley

Now that I finished Insanity, I am going to start P90x. I will start with the straight up P90X program and see how it goes, but think that I might change over to a P90x / Insanity hybrid to get my cardio fix.

I have a question for the group. What do you think about using weights during Kenpo? I know a lot of you are doing Combat and there was a discussion today about weighted gloves.
Would weights be benifitial? Do you think that it will make much diference?

well well well...the "weekend" is finally over... gooodness...work was khaotik!!! our network was done due to our servers being going through newport(yeah stupid as hell i know) anyhow, i had to do everything manually and doing an aircraft weight and balance on a saturday at 0600 after being out until uuuummm 0300...yeah not so freakin good!!! sigh so what was supposed to be a short 2 hour shift turned into a dreadful 7 hour shift... sigh i managed to get to the apartment and did my legs... :-) oh nice... 70lb per hand lunges are hard!!!
sunday brought upon more madness at the employement...another full day as opposed to half but hey OT is always welcome!!! i did awake early and kranked out chest, biceps and abs, again i tend to think i can do more than i can... yep, uuuummm 90lb per hand chest presses HARD!!! doesnt sound heavy or like too much...managed four...sigh...kinda toasted the chest on the first set...oh well i still finished...and laughed at myself...

and i always talk about not rewarding myself with food and meals for a job well done and completing a program... and i mean it, i rewarded myself on saturday, with a set of POWERBLOCKS... the 90lb set with the stand too...that is my reward for finshing COMBAT and its also another commitment and pledge to stick with it!!! they are phenomenal by the way!!
(oh and another "treat" a bottle of 40 grams of protein, 0 carbs 160 calories of pure sweet sweeet sweeeet orangey goodness...(4 dollars a bottle so i only do it on special occasions)

as far as being a vegetarian, its actually easy as hell...ive gave up meat, chicken, fish two years ago...
whey protein powders, egg whites, egg, cottage cheese and greek yogurt will give you all the protein you need... the veggies are the desert to me... and there are other good sources of protein, peas have a good amount of protein(some companies even add pea protein to there powder instead of soy) beans are a good source as well... and then theres hemp protein, soy protein(i avoid soy as it doesnt agree with me) and most of then theres all the wonderful fruits thatll give you amazing energy throughout the day and are excellent pre and post workout fuels... oh and dont forget about beets and beet juice an amazing N.O. precursor... :-) no need to consume animals... but thats just me...

tomorrow its time to go INSANE!!!!

Rest day!....start week 4 of Insanity tomorrow.

Nutrition good but timing off, as seems to happen on Sundays due to being busy at church, therefore calories low. Guess that's ok for a rest day.

Is this thread a permanent move or temporary? Do we subscribe?

John: You can use the weighted gloves, it will amp up the calorie burn, just be cateful not to bang the joints.
