Starting 2/11/13 Need Buddies
Showing 20 results.
Needing workout buddies to start with me on or around 2-11-13. I will be doing Start it Up for 30 days because I am severely out of shape. I may try to move it up to Ramp it Up before then but i am not making any promises. I do however promise to do it six days a week.

Today was the first day for Slim in 6! I did Start it Up! I had to take a couple of breaks (walking in place) and put my arms down a couple of times. I am so so so so so out of shape! I am planning on doing Start it Up for 30 days..(well six days a week for 4 weeks). And then I will move on to Ramp it Up!
Please join me, even if you have already started!

Hi Heather! I just joined here yesterday and have purchased the P90x and the Insanity workouts. I won't really be ready to start the program until I receive them hopefully before the end of the week! I'm looking for buddies and training support also! I did start my own HIIT session on Saturday but I think I should have started with a running on the spot type session instead of sqwats! My legs are killing me! I didn't count beforehand exactly how many u was going to do! 20 sqwats for my hi intensity 20 second intervals x 8 rounds with 10 second rests in between. That was a total of 160 sqwats! I'm paying the price alright! I'm also really out of shape despite my active job and I have a lot if weight to lose! :-) Carolyn

Hey Carolyn,
I would love to be your workout buddy! I have heard of HIIT sessions? Is that High Intensity Interval Training? LOL! I have no clue. Where do you get that workout?
That many squats would prevent me from walking..lol I am so proud of you! I am going to try and add you to my buddy list!

haha! Oh it did prevent me from walking and sitting etc! I should have thought about just how many I was going to do before doing them! You get into that frame of mode that you are just as tough as you were when you were in your 20's. Maybe one day I will be again! I'm not sure if I can really start with this program first but I purchased them. I was told TurboFire is great and has the HIIT sessions built right in. Supposed to burn more fat in less time! Well HIIT can bascially be any activity that you do for all out speed for a set amount of time with short rest intervals in between instead of going an overall same pace for a set time in aerobic activity. I am not an expert either but I used to incorporate this all the time into my jogging and my rollerblading. Yes let's be buddies! Kudos to you too Heather! I came here for support and to be of motivationa support for others as well!emoticon

Heather: I haven't done my first workout yet, I am hoping to pick up my programs from the post office tomorrow! I did do a nice powerwalk today which helped loosen up those quads from my terrible squat session! lol I hope yours hold up well tomorrow! Make sure you get some good sleep! I'll post on my progress after I've completed my fit test (or what I can complete of it!)

Coachcristen: thanks for the link! I don't have Slim in 6 yet, I have ordered P90X and Insanity and really hope to begin one of those tomorrow. I just know I'll end up buying and using almost every workout DVD available. So much hype about all of them! I'm very excited to finally start!

That's awesome, and no problem! Lots of hard working ladies that keep popping in there! Will you be doing P90X or Insanity first? I love the P90X workouts and cannot wait to do it again after I finish RevAbs (which is also a fun program!).

Well I suppose it's hard to get started right at the same time and with the same program as other people. This really is an awesome health and fitness community! I was really stumped on which program to start first getting a few differing opinions! I think once I see them I'll figure it out from there. I've heard Insanity is really tough obviously, but I really like the incorporation of the HIIT type training sessions within them. I'm leaning towards the Insanity one first and then using P90X to help me define and sculpt my body more. Just hope I can do it! I've joined a group called Insane Women for the Insanity program - hoping that will keep me motivated. I purchased these before getting any advice by a coach, otherwise I may have chosen the 10 minute trainer or the TurboFire or something!

I went to the post office today and my programs weren't there! I live in a rural area, so when I got back home my post delivery card was in the mailbox to pick it up for tomorrow... so I came home and did a quick HIIT session of high knees running on the spot with short 10 second rests in between and my lungs were like WHAT??? I was couging afterwards and I'm not a smoker either! I hope that's normal! I felt like a had a cold afterwards! It's easing up now but I really got my heart rate up!

HIIT is great, but don't go too far too fast. If you're feeling really out of breath, trying saying a sentence or two (in RevAbs he makes you say "Rev it high, Rev it low, I'm strong committed and ready to go!). If you're pausing after every other word, you should be about right, if you can't get a word out - SLOW IT DOWN!!

And, while there are many entry level programs, P90X and Insanity are some of the breadwinners of beachbody I do believe. I think you'll be able to do them but don't feel bad if you can't make it through the whole workout the first time. There may be some times during the workout that you just start thinking there's no way you can keep going. Walk it for 30 to 60 seconds and then try to keep going. Do your best and forget the rest.

Have you been contacted by a personal coach yet? You should have had one assigned to you when you first signed up!

Thanks for the advice! Yes I have been connected wtih Robin Barnes but I got these programs before getting her as a coach. We are communicating through Facebook but it's a slow process and I have just asked her which one I can try first. She had originally suggested TurboFire which looks awesome but I will have to wait before purchasing that having just spent money on two others. Just wondering if P90x would be the best one to start, even though I am interested in fat blasting first and then defining muscle etc. I have no doubts that I'll have trouble at first with either program... just not sure which one would be easier to break into!

Hi Heather! I started Slim in6 about 4 weeks ago. I'm on Burn it Up, but I'm pretty sore afterwards. I get bored doing the same workout every day, but I'll stick with it. I'm not losing any lbs yet, but I can see some changes in my fitness and in my muscle tone. I'm building muscle, which is good (muscle burns fat!) but I hope to lose the fat soon!! It can be frustrating, so I thought I'd look for some workout buddies on here. I found your post! I'd love to join you!

I myself have not done Insanity, but the P90X lean program should be pretty easy to get through at first! It concentrates quite a bit on cardio and then muscle definition....I think it does three days a week cardio, one day stretch and two days muscle work. It should be part of the calendar that comes with the program emoticon

Having buddies to work out with is awesome - it will definitely help you stay motivated and accountable! And give the weight loss time, as another once told me, she didn't see any real results until the last couple weeks of the program. It just depends on how and when your body decides it's ready to let go, but make sure you are being really good with nutrition as well!!

I started 2/11 also. Are we really supposed to do the same exact workout every day for 2 weeks? I'll do it, but seems you need to mix it up for muscle recovery.

It sounds like you might be able to mix the DVD's with some additional cardio to mix things up a bit. And I believe the Slim Series will offer even more options.
