Frustrated - Week 6 of Insanity - no weight loss
insanity nutrition plan calorie intake
2/12/13 9:26 AM
Hello. I am in my 6th week of Insanity. I love the work-outs. No soreness and great energy boost. BUT, I have only lost 2lbs and no inches either. I am 36 years old, 5ft 2in, and 135lbs. Essentially, I want to get leaner before adding muscle which is why I chose Insanity before progressing to P90x. My calorie intake calculation was 1700-1800/daily. However, I knew when starting the program that this is much higher than my normal intake when trying to shed pounds. But I figured I would need the boost for the workouts and probably the kick to my metabolism. I also noticed that the amount of carbs consumed were in greater proportion than I am used to (I mainly have eaten high protein/low carb and low GI in the past). I am following the Insanity meal plans. I quickly realized that there can be a lot of play in the carb levels so I tried decreasing the carbs as much as possible after 2pm (I do my workouts at 5am). I lost 4lbs the first week, 2 lbs the second week and since have been as a yo-yo. I should say that I have recently started hormonal birth control for Migraines (have not been on birth control for 15 years) which could play a factor, but I feel it must be something else. I have tried taking a week to up my calories greatly as a reset...that did not work. I have also tried counting my weight watchers points and found I had no energy by the end of the day. I am so frustrated at this point that I am willing to stop the hormones just to see if this is the problem. I am a medical professional, so I don't take that lightly. I am just so upset that I am not getting the results that I have seen in the past, but working so much harder. Don't get me wrong. I do not need to look like the young women on the video. My goal is to be healthy, but to at least see a little reflection of my hard work on the scale in the process. I will NOT quit!!

Any help you can offer on the nutrition plan I will gladly accept! Thanks in advance!

I know you said you're following the meal plan, so can we just get a sample of what your daily diet looks like? It may help unearth some clues as to why you aren't losing...

Also, have you taken measurements and paid attention to how your clothes are fitting? Just want to cover all of the common reasons before we get into anything more complex than that...

Your maintenance calorie is 2100. Based on that you should check into lowering your calorie intake to 1600 and use macros of 50%Protein/30%Carbs/20% Fat. No cheat meals.

If you follow this plan correctly and still don't get any results with that after 2-3 weeks i don't know what will.

You are tracking your nutrition ? you are using the portion approach?
