Question about Creatine
2/13/13 7:14 PM
Bit of history about me first. I used to go to the Gym trying to beef up only to increase strength. So Weighted workouts for me was more of a love hate relationship I loved the workout but hated the result (I mean lack of result.)
I used to take supplements including creatine. From memory I would take creatine a couple of hours prior to my exercise.

Reading through the Body Beast book I could not locate the prescribed usage of creatine, besides in the post workout drink.

I am on Block 1 day 11. So far I have gained 1.8kg (3.9lbs) moving from 80kg to 81.8kg
My scales said i have dropped 7kg of fat starting at 21kg of fat down to 14kg of fat

Can anyone please recommend how I can obtain optimal usage of my creatine. I feel that I am using it wrong.

Thanks

Kevin

There is no optimal use for creatine.
You just take 5g a day, any time during the day.
I usually take it first thing in my morning, its just a preference when you take it. But it doesnt matter when.

Actually, there is a recommended dosage and you should be dosing to start. for the first 5-7 days...supplement at 20g/day to rapidly increase muscle creatine. This is then followed by a maintenance phase of 2-5 g/day to sustain maximal muscle creatine levels. You may gain an initial 4-5 lbs due to increased water weight into muscles with increased protein synthesis. Normal maintenance dosage of 2-5g/day is safe up to 5 years. If you any kidney problems, you should consult your Doc first.

I usually take 5g in the morning with my breakfast and 5g with my protein shake post-workout.

Post-workout i take 5g of Creatine monohydrate and in the morning it is Kre-Alkalyn EFX as you don't need to load and cycle with Kre-Alkalyn.

I usually don't take creatine monohydrate for more than 2-3 montsh then i just go with kre-alkalyn for 1 month.

@motivfit, you dont have to to a "loading phase", you can start with just 5g daily. There is no need for more than 5g. Ever.

Why do they let people coach others when they dont know anything...

Actually, I have over 11 yrs in the fitness industry...have trained over 1000 clients and yes I do know what I'm taking about. This is straight out of the NASM PES training book. anyone that knows anything about Creatin supplementation understands that there is a loading phase. If you don't believe in it fine...To be disrespectful and say that I don't know anything and that I shouldn't be coaching anyone, that's another issue that I would be happy to discuss with you.

I like to take 5 grams 30 min to 1 hour before working out with 6-8 ounces of grape or apple juice....and I take 5 grams in my post workout Beast Shake loaded with simple sugars or Vitargo.

I take creatine for 2 months and then I lay off of it for 6 weeks. There are different opinions and research regarding cycling creatine and the loading or not. I would encourage you to read up on it. I have loaded creatine before and have noticed a difference taking four 5 grams servings throughout the day for a 4-5 days...but lately my stomach cannot take the loading phase. If you start creatine do not miss a day of taking it even take it on your off days and drink plenty of water.

@motivfit. Wow.... 11 years and you still dont know the difference between bullshit and facts. Sorry to hear that, you need to re educate yourself. Sorry.

@RBroussard There is no point in taking more than 5 grams of creatine as your body only absorbs 5g, the rest gets pissed out.

There is no point in arguing with you since despite my well documented P90x and Body Beast journey on these threads you will continue to accuse me of using steroids.

Yes i will continue to accuse you because you know nothing about fitness or how the body works. Typical steroid user taking shortcuts.
