I can't complete the insanity workouts
Hello,

My name is Kacia and I am 24 years old. I weigh 203 lbs and would like to lose atleast 50 lbs. My problem area with the most fat would be my stomach which makes me look pregnant, it is huge and my thighs. I have been doing insanity for about a week but I'm am still on the first dvd because I cannot finish it and it didn't make sense for me to move onto something else when I can't even complete the first one. The warmup on its own exhausts me. Ive only done it about 4 times in my first week and each day I get a little further in the dvd. I'm worried that the way I am doing the insanity workout may not help me. any suggestions on what I should do? will it still work? I know I will not get the results of the people in the infomercials but will I get results? should I keep going?

Kacia, a lot of people start Insanity and honestly they are not ready for it. It's perfectly ok to take your time and build up some cardio first. You may even want to switch to an easier program to start with. The important thing is that you do your best and you don't give up. You will reach your goals if you keep pushing play, it just may take you longer than 60 days.

Hey Kacia,

I'm proud of you for trying and doing your best. There are a lot of people out there who wouldn't even attempt Insanity. You might also want to check into Hip Hop Abs. It is also done by Shaun T and has reputation for being a lot of fun. I have a friend who did it and lost a bunch of weight and my sister is doing it right now and enjoying it. It might help you get started and ready for Insanity. Plus it's a great way to have fun and burn some calories too!

Best of luck!

Hey Kacia! A lot of people take on Insanity because they see infomercials of people losing tons of weight. Insanity is the hardest workout put on DVD period. But, you dont have to do the hardest program out there to have jaw dropping results. You wouldnt go into a gym and try to bench press 400lbs would you? Send Insanity back and try power 90 (not p90x), hip hop abs, 10 min trainer, or maybe slim in 6. These programs used in combination with a healthy nutrition plan will give you amazing results. Plus, you'll less likely to be discouraged due to the extreme difficulty. Larry Shelton - EnduraFIT

Have you considered trying Plyo X from P90x? It is a great workout, and I used it as a way to build up to the intensity you get with Insanity.
It's not wrong to try something a bit slower first.

I had the same experience with Insanity! I didn't need another situation where I beat myself up, so I just decided that it wasn't the program for me at that time and I moved on to something else. Instead, I started TurboFire and really enjoyed it. I feel like it helped me ease into fitness and still really challenge myself. There is a lot of jumping, but there are modifications for everything so I was able to make it through all the videos. After 12 weeks, I'm feeling so much stronger and I'm happy with myself for getting through it! Best of luck!

Kacia, you have two options...one is to keep the dvd set and just do the workouts at your own pace.

The second is to send it back and substitute another workout in its place.

I would suggest the second option. I say this because I have done slim in six, slim series, turbo jam and two rounds of P90X and I STILL have difficulty keeping up with Shaun T and the gang in Insanity. It is a GREAT workout for sure, but not for a beginner.

My suggestion is either the Slim n Six or Turbo Jam. Both of these are better suited for someone who is just starting out on the road to fitness.

And you CAN do this. I started at 225 pounds and am down to 155...so you can too. AND , I am twice as old, lol.

Hi, Kacia. I'm on my second week, too, and I can't keep up with any of the workouts, either. I just do as much as I can of each one. From what I can tell from reading these boards, no one (or hardly anyone) can complete these workouts until the second or third round of the whole program! So don't give up!!

If you choose to stay with Insanity, just do what you can of each workout and keep moving for the rest.

If you choose another program, I agree that TurboJam and TurboFire are fun alternatives. TurboJam is the easier of the two.

Whatever you choose, you can do this! Keep pushing play...

Keep going, doing the parts you can do and adapt the moves if you can't do say, "boy" push ups. I do the girlie kind still and I am getting so much stronger and can now keep pace with Shaun T.
I thought I was gonna die my first few days, but now I am nearing the end of my 60 days and looking back, the first DVDs seems so easy. The warmup alone kicked my butt! Worried I would have a heart attack. I am 45 and a mom of two. If I can do it, so can you! Proud of you for starting, now just keep with it. You will impress yourself!!
