Insanity people HELP!!
Insanity people HELP!!
2/20/13 10:45 AM
I am just now on day 10 of insanity. My question is does it ever stop hurting? I am trying to stay open minded and remind myself that my body is changing and no pain no gain but I have hurt from head to toe since day one. Everyone says it doesn't get easier you just get better. I sure hope they are right! Has anyone found any helpful remedies for this pain? Or a way to keep working through it?

Congrats on getting through Day 10. When you say hurting- you mean sore right? not pain? If pain then that is not good. If sore, how is your stretching going? What are you having post workout? When post workout? This can make a difference.
Have you ever tried using a foam roller? It can really help with soreness.

Just keep pressing play! The first week or so is the hardest...well until Month 2 emoticon

Cheers,
Christina

I thought stretching was going great I have taken back a lot of my flexibity in this short amount of time. But for the first week my calves were so sore I could barely stand let alone get through most of the work out. I'm thinking I may need new shoes to help some because my shins are killing me. Thanks for the tips and thanks for the help!!

I would also reccomend Results & Recovery Formula. I know it sounds cliche, but the stuff works. Make sure you drink plenty of water beforehand and ensure your body is properly fueled prior to your workout.

As long as it's soreness and not pain, you're doing fine. If there's pain, don't push through it, that's bad.

Hope the advice helps. It does get easier, sort of. I just started Month 2 and it's like starting a whole new workout. The intensity is higher, but I know the payoff is going to be great.

Stay positive and focus on the goal!

I felt the same way after my first few days.
You have to make sure you are stretching, another trick is making sure you have a recovery formula within the first 20 minutes after your workout to replenish your muscles, I also eat two slices of fruit like pineapple to give me energy. Also LOTS of water helps as well and sleep.
If the sorness is too unbearable however there is no harm in taking a day off to let your muscles have extra recovery time. This is an intense program and some people have to take it a little slower than other, but if you feel like you can make it through the workout without risk of injury I say go for it.

Just know the sorness is a good thing your body is changing and you will be seeing results before you know it! emoticon

What helps for me is getting nutrition right...You really need to make sure you do the BMR x activity level and adjust your diet accordingly like the plan says, esp on the part where you eat 5 times a day, otherwise stuff goes to fat instead of being absorbed into your muscles. Also, drink a lot of water.

You probably did more damage to your calves than you should and not recovering fast enough...If I were you, I'd:

1. make sure you sleep right, AT LEAST 8 hours a day
2. eat right, get some meat in your diet if you aren't, as meat = protein + creatine. If you aren't a meat eater and is taking plant protein (e.g. soy), make sure you take a little bit of creatine to help recovery
3. warm up before insanity...I do that even before the warm up exercises
4. stretch throughout the day. I found that swimming at slow pace (e.g. 2min/100m) really helps for me, stretches relaxes my muscles
5. Soaking in a Jacuzzi and/or massage will help, increasing blood flow to your muscles helps you heal

What type of shoes are you wearing? Because of all the jumping, just sneakers or running shoes can be hard on the feet. My arches hurt a lot during the first week. Finally ditched the shoes and go barefoot now, and have lost a lot of the initial soreness. Have heard cross-trainer or racquetball shoes are better than running shoes or sneakers...
