Struggling with Insanity!
Struggling with Insanity!

Hey everyone!
I need your help! I am a pretty good athlete, but getting back on the wagon and started Insanity recently. I started 12 days ago- but knew I would have to take a day off in between and now on the schedule for start days on Monday. Today I did Pure Cardio on week 2 calendar.
I have done fitness programs in the past- Tae Bo, P90, P90x, and I run 5k's fairly regularly. I had a bad case of Pneumonia in November '11 leading to 8 broken ribs by January 2012, and after a year of care and moderate exercise to health, I am back into fitness.
My struggle with Insanity is that I feel like the workouts aren't getting any easier, and that isn't a typical bodily reaction that I have. I find myself stopping for water and having to catch my breath a lot more than I would like to.
I am watching what I am eating- avoiding sugars and eating good grains, added a lot of protein to my diet (egg whites), and know I need to get some shake ingredients.

Any other pointers to get my cardio strength up so I am not panting and needing water so much and/or so soon into a workout????

Thank you for all the support and tips!!!

Hi there! Insanity is one tough workout and just when you think you're not really making any progress, they throw in the Fit Test for you. And you clobber your first Fit Test's numbers! That's part of the reason they put them in there, so you'd have something to measure your progress with. You're coming up on it within the next couple days. I'm betting you're making more progress than you think! emoticon

I built up my cardio strength each session by choosing my "pause" points. I knew in advance where my resting places would be, in the DVD. Then I gradually increased them until I did not need to rest.

Sometimes, it can help clear your mind just to know where your break is scheduled, and it also helps you mark your progress.

Adawg210,

Don't get too discouraged. This is a tough tough program so it's natural to be panting and needing water. You'll get fitter each week and your performance will improve, so stick with it.

And I made a video last week that you might find helpful. Take a look:

Best of luck! You're gonna rock it!
