Hello Team...

This is the beginning of what is left in FINE In 09!!

There are only a few months left in this year and we have work to do...

The following is a great explanation on what happens to all of us and what I and Jay, and many others have been going through with maintaining the EXTREME nature of the “X” in a day to day life filled with ups and downs…. Especially when you get to the 14-15% mark and feel great and have a new lease on life.

Why You’re Not Lean Yet

June 23rd, 2009.

Today’s motivation comes from a person who is a 37 year old guy, who, by day, is a chemical engineer and father of 3 boys. By night, however, he paints his face and turns into a bonified gym warrior.

During the last few months, he’s made it his mission to drop the stubborn body fat. You know, the stuff that prevented him from ever dipping into the land of single digits - in other words, below 10%. And drop it, he did, ending up around 6% body fat.
How did he do it? And what did he learn? Well, that’s what you’re here to find out. His story is below

Get Shredded Diet - The 17 Lessons I Learned

I just came off a successful run at the Get Shredded Diet. It was such a mind-blowing experience; it took me several days to even partially wrap my head around everything I learned. Indeed, it was a brain explosion and I’m still processing everything. Following are my random thoughts, experiences, and philosophies around fat loss:

Lesson #1: If You Don’t Have The Body You Want, You’re Doing It Wrong

I’ve done the fat loss extreme and, thank you very much, I kicked it’s a$$. The key was my attitude. It wasn’t until I got the right attitude that I starting seeing results.
Now, I thought I had it before, I really did. I’d have argued day and night that I had it. And, with a few people I did argue. But I didn’t get it. I was too confident in my knowledge. To certain I was on the right track. And because of that, I wasn’t doing the right workouts or eating the right stuff. It held me back.
Only once I admitted I didn’t know what I was doing 100% - only then did I begin to learn how to get lean. Only then did I start to discover the right workout and the right nutrition program. And my body followed suit. I started to get lean.
Before that, I was doing stuff wrong. That’s why I didn’t have the body I wanted. Perhaps that’s why you don’t have the body you want either.

Lesson #2: When Fat Loss Turns Invisible - The Dead Zone

Fat loss is a funny game when you get into the 10-15% range. Above 15%, any fat loss looks good. Your shape improves, you get slimmer, and clothes get smaller, and so on.
Once you slide below 15%, the returns really diminish. You can lose a boatload of fat and it seems invisible. It’s not until you get below 10%, or even 8%, where abs start to appear, where your waistline starts to get really tight, and where veins really start to show up.
So basically, there is this giant dead zone in the middle where you’re making real gains but they’re incredibly unsatisfying. You must hang in there anyway. If you don’t, you’ll never be lean.

Lesson #3: When Fat Loss Turns Invisible - The Dead Zone, Part 2

At some point during the fat loss trek, everything seemed to stall. The scale was inching downwards, but the tummy looked the same, no abs in sight. On and on the stupid diet went, and still no abs. Here’s why. My body was shedding fat from other, less sexy, places like my quads, my back and my a$$. I just wasn’t looking there. If I would have been, I might have been happier with my progress.
Our bodies are funny things, and fat will come off unevenly. Sometimes it’s not where we want it to come from most. It doesn’t matter. That’s the way it goes. You’ve gotta just keep plugging away. Because eventually the fat will be lost. All of it.
In my case, it’s clear that my abs won’t really pop until I get down to probably 5%. Others may be luckier, but that seems to be what I have to do.

Lesson #4: Food Is Only Fuel & All Eating Is Emotional

Fundamentally, food is fuel. The only other reasons we eat is for socializing and for emotional reasons. This probably ruffles feathers, but I am basically saying that all eating is emotional, especially overeating and unhealthy eating.
It is also nearly impossible to divorce the emotional aspect from eating and make it simply a re-fueling process. If it was, we’d all eat nutritionally perfect gruel and be perfectly happy with it. Getting to an elite level of body comp and staying there requires wrapping your head around the FACT that the reason you reach for the bag of Doritos, or the cheesecake, or the Aero bar is emotional eating.

Lesson #5: Eating Will Always Be Emotional… Learn To Use That

I don’t think we ever completely get past the emotional aspects of eating. But the people who are most successful at attaining elite body comp are the ones who get past it, and learn to look at food purely as fuel.
Decadent foods like pizza or ice cream become special occasions, kind of like the rest of the world might treat an expensive bottle of champagne. They are things to be savored and enjoyed rarely, not as a staple.
Think about this: a person who indulges in booze every day is called an alcoholic. Someone who indulges in junk food every day is called… your average North American.
Lesson #6: Fat Loss Is Easy, It’s Your Brain That’s Getting In The Way

This will pi$$ a lot of people off, but fat loss is actually pretty easy. It’s way, WAY easier than muscle gain. It’s not always pleasant, it’s pretty much always socially uncomfortable, and it forces you to go against the grain of your friends, coworkers and family. But when we break it down to a pure physiological process, fat loss is easy.
It’s all the mental stuff tied up in eating that make it pretty much impossible for most of the world. It’s the emotions around eating, the addiction to the taste and the feeling of food, the bonding that comes from sharing food with others, and the sense of belonging that comes from “going with the flow”. Most people fail not because they don’t have the right diet plan, not because they don’t have access to the right food, and not because they don’t know or understand exactly what they need to do. All the physiological elements are in place, and they work. Most people fail because they don’t consider the psychological aspect of the diet.
Food, particularly sugar and refined carbohydrates, is addictive. The cravings can be emotionally crippling. Hunger is a feeling completely foreign to westerners and we can’t handle it; it breaks us as brutally as being physically beaten.
There’s also the profound sense of alienation that comes from doing something “different”. Once food and shelter are taken care of, our number one need as human beings is to feel like we belong. When a person starts a diet they isolate themselves form the norm. And the single most social thing we do, as a species, is share food and drink. Many people will abandon a diet because it feels like they’re excluded, and for a heavy person already feeling badly about their self-image and their sense of belonging, that’s just too high a price to pay. They’d rather be obese than alone.
I’m not trying to be all haughty and holier-than-thou, let me be the first to admit I’m an emotional eater. I get a profound sense of happiness from sweets. It’s such a satisfying feeling it is (honestly and without exaggeration) practically sexual. But now I can control the psychological aspects of eating, and for long periods I can treat food purely as fuel. I feel like if any single thing allows me call myself an upper-tier gym warrior it’s that.

Lesson #7: Re-feed Days Are Great And Terrible

Re-feed days are a mixed blessing. For the most part, the key is learning to stop eating when you get “satisfied”, but that is very hard to do when you’re in the throes of indulging your carb addiction. It’s like telling an alcoholic to have just 1 beer.
I found myself eating things I didn’t even want because the day was almost over, and if I didn’t eat the ice cream, or the chocolate bar, or the donuts now, I’d miss my chance for another two weeks! How stupid is that?
So be careful with re-feeds. Because they can be very helpful during something like the GSD. However, when emotions kick in, they can become difficult to control. Again, all eating is emotional!

Lesson #8: Busting Out Of The Rut

I would never have pushed myself to this extreme if I hadn’t been afraid of being humiliated. In hindsight, what I did wasn’t even that extreme; it just looked that way from deep inside the walls of my rut.
I had no idea how many constraints I had put on myself, or how many different avenues I had simply refused to explore, until I climbed out of my rut and looked back at my old self.
We are all putting constraints on ourselves, telling ourselves “no I can’t”, “that’s doesn’t work for me”, “it’s too hard to try”. It’s all self-deluded horses##t, and no one is doing it to us. We’re doing it to ourselves. And we must stop. For our physical and our mental health.

Lesson #9: Competition Drives Us To Great Heights

Competition is probably the only thing that pushed me from good to great. And that’s why I’m so glad myself and some of the other PN guys decided to do this.
The fear of losing horribly and being humiliated in our little ad hoc contest was a strong motivator. Plus, the desire to win was also very strong. In fact, these were the only reasons I ever considered puling myself out of my comfortable rut.
That rut was actually a grave. It’s a grave because once you put yourself into one, you’ll probably spend the rest of your life there, and die there too. So, if you want to make big chances, you’ll need a big goal. Compete for something. It’s very useful.

Lesson #10: No Limits

I could compete someday if I wanted to. I’m not saying that I’ve got such an exceptional body that I could walk away with a title or anything. I’m saying that there is no physiological reason why I couldn’t. My body type isn’t standing in the way, genetics aren’t standing I the way either.
My lifestyle, and what time I can afford to dedicate to bodybuilding IS standing in the way. My own mental toughness is another possible barrier, but much less of one than before. In essence, I realize that the only limits I have are those I place on myself. And I realize that I’m now in control of them. Very liberating!

Lesson #11: Water Shedding

Before taking my “after photos,” I decided to try water manipulation. It’s something necessary to look your best. So I wanted to do everything I could. Now, I can’t say for absolute certain that the water shedding made a significant difference. I believe it made me look leaner and fuller, but then again I wasn’t an ideal candidate: I’m not particularly huge nor was I lean enough where the differences would be most striking.
Plus I don’t feel like I’m sophisticated enough to know the feeling of “flat” versus “full” versus “depleted”. I also wasn’t able to follow the process exactly, and I’m told water-shedding is an extremely delicate balance, so that would have been another factor.
Still, I feel like it made my muscles look bigger and rounder. It was a worthwhile experience to try, because once again it forced me to do something way outside my usual rut .

Lesson #12: Water Shedding & Drinking Tons Of Water

As part of my water manipulation, I had to drink 3 gallons of water a day for a few days. This was actually harder than the diet. It’s a physically demanding task in ways that really surprised me. Much like the first few days of the extreme diet were depressing, so was water loading. The only difference was, by the time you start getting used to it, it’s over.

Lesson #13: Bodybuilding Is About Creating An Illusion

So much of what we see in magazines and on stage is actually kind of fake. You just to look bigger and leaner that the next guy, and there is a lot of trickery involved in doing so.
Compare Cliff (another guy that did the same recently) and I. The big guy has 25 pounds of pure muscle more than I do, and only 8 pounds more fat. He is clearly the better bodybuilder. But the human eye is fooled into seeing leaner muscles as being bigger. When you rely on the human eye, I got the edge.
It makes no damned sense! But, at the same time, it’s the truth. So remember this, the leaner you are, the bigger you seem to look. Especially with your shirt off. And in pictures.

Lesson #14: A Great Body Looks Lousy With Lousy Photography & Lighting

When you take a picture of yourself, how it looks has as much to do with the lighting, the coloring, the angle, and just sheer dumb luck as the condition of your body.
I took a dozen front-double bicep pictures on photo day. Some made me look soft and small, but the one I picked made me look huge. The others were just bad pictures.
And don’t forget other finishing touches. I fake-tanned for a month before the pictures, and believe me I was brown! I still looked pasty white under the light of the sun. This over-exposed-washing-out tends to blur the muscular detail makes abs invisible.
So if you’re taking a picture, you need to have some color or you need to manage the lighting to compensate. Even the buffest bod looks smooth otherwise. Oiling up your body helps too. The oil catches the light and emphasizes definition. I took pictures with and without oil, and the difference is notable.

Lesson #15: Full-Body Shaving

Shaving was both interesting and a drag. Body hair definitely blurs the muscular details. But nothing is as irritating as the unbelievable itching in the inner thighs on the third day after a shave.
For men there is a balancing act. Unless a guy is freaky huge, or really lean, men look feminine with no body hair. But thick or dark hair hides the muscles, and makes anything but the buffest abs hard to see. Plus uber-hairiness is off-putting to the ladies.
My compromise going forward is that I’ll keep shaving my arms (who likes hairy knuckles?) and probably my abs. I’ll use clippers everywhere else (except… well… there!).

Lesson #16: Bigger Muscles Show Better Than Small Ones

There are two ways for your muscles to really “pop”. Either you get rid of all the fat covering them up, or you grow those muscles really big so that they are easier to see underneath the fat.
That’s why a more muscular guy can look really good at higher body fat, the bigger muscles are still easily visible. As a slimmer guy, the message is clear. If I want to look like an underwear model I either have to maintain sub 7% body fat, or I have to gain a bunch more muscle.

Lesson #17: It’s An Exclusive Club

I think maybe 1 person in 1,000 will ever be able to drag themselves down to single digit body fat as adults. It’s way, way, WAY easier to be obese.
However, for those who are willing to commit to getting very lean, it’s totally possible. You just have to remember this. You probably don’t know what you’re doing – yet. You probably don’t know what you’re getting into - yet. Do it anyway. You’ll learn so much along the way. And when you stall, don’t be afraid to reach out for help. The FINE In 09 is a great place to do just that.

How the Fine in 09' Challenge works.

You all have read the rules/guidelines. Along with said rules/guidelines each Sunday I post our Roll Call and ask everyone to check in and give us an update on your progress. I encourage everyone to try to check in as often as possible but if you can only check in once a week that is fine too. We are a flexible group. BUT WE DO DEMAND COMMITMENT, DEDICATION, AND ATTITUDE

Along with the Roll Call, I issue a Weekly Challenge. These challenges usually consist of something that will benefit your own health and what I hope to accomplish with the challenges is to have them turn into a regular habit for all of you. Just because it is a weekly challenge doesn't mean the challenge ends at the end of the week and you go back to old habits. They are designed to snowball and build off each other helping you to grow as a person and I hope they will help you achieve your goals.

I am NOT of the school of challenging you to go above and beyond the program you are doing. By doing extra workouts when you are not training for an event like a marathon or sports contest, you run the risk of injury, over training and burnout. This Group of family members and I use that word because like it or not we will reveal and share things here that you wouldn't anywhere else, is here to make sure we make it through to the next round! we have 365 days in 09' and that's 4 rounds by my count!

This thread is about having fun. Enjoying your workouts is important and if you know you are a part of a group that is there for you and the group is there to help make your workouts fun, then you may stick with it longer and push a little harder during your scheduled workouts. I will be watching!

So that’s how the Fine in 09' Challenge operates

I’m excited to see that they deleted our last thread! It means a new movement in a new year!!!!

Ranks will grow and continue to grow as we progress. Feel free to invite who ever you want to participate in this Challenge. It is open to anyone, everyone, and all workout programs.

As always I am NOT GOING ANYWHERE! I LOVE THE "X" and I LOVE YOU!!!

-DocSoc

PS: Saturdays we have a Beach "X" thing we started right on Ft. Lauderdale Beach! We call it Fine In 09' Fun and Sun, join us 9:30am

RULES:

Moving forward with this thread we WILL/MUST have some control over what and where we are going, having said this the following are the things we need to have from the members of FINE in 09' so that I can keep that spread sheet up to date:

Here is my statement of intention & commitment to the FINE IN 09' Challenge:

1) The program: Are you using the "X", P90, ChaLENE???
I will be doing is the P90X Classic. I plan to FINE-imize my workouts by giving 100% to the program.

I will BRING IT, and when I doubt I myself I'll remind myself that "I DID MY BEST, and FORGET THE REST"!
I am going for it with as much dedication as I did it round 1.

2) POST your PICTURES:

I will post my pictures and stats as soon as possible. No later then NYE, please, unless you are a rolling participant joining later! we love you too!!!

3) What do you hope to accomplish this 90 days?

What I hope to be able to do in 90 days is have more definition in my biceps, abs, and overall appearance to be more modelesque (LOL).

I will openly accept critique from YOU my family because you may have insight that will get me to my goal and because you are willing to share it.

4) PICTURES AND MORE PICTURES

I will share pictures along the way.

5) No Negative self talk.

I just need to call myself on that one and keep it in check. That's tough when I am mentally 13!!!

6) JOIN WOWY!!!!

I'm a WOWY participant. But I am guilty of not using it to the fullest potential. I will invite others to workout and figure out that part of the system.

7) FINE in 09' your nutrition!

I'll FINEimize my nutrition and utilize all the many tools discussed in the thread i.e. myfitday and clean out my cupboards of anything older then 30days!!!

8) Keep the attitude and bring an empty cup!

I have a plethora of lives that I have lived but I will never say or interject knowledge as if it's something that is written in stone. We can ALL learn from each other and that is why we are here. Put your knowledge in you pocket, share it as a gift and bring an empty cup to be filled and use the new knowledge to your benefit.

Answer all these questions as I did... And HAVE FUN!!! We are on the brink of a NEW YEAR, full of LIFE and LOVE, and WE are here TOGETHER!!!!

A great friend of mine and this thread sent me this in an email...

I wanted to share it:

Folks, whatever your PRIMARY workout each day should be your focus. People think that they need to do extra workouts EVERY day to get faster results. This is simply not true.

Realize that your body has a FINITE amount of energy to repair/build muscle and recover from your workouts. If you are applying the PROPER intensity to your workouts, you don't need to do ANYTHING else. Every time you do additional workouts during the day you are taking away from your body's ability to recovery.

SIMPLE RULE: NO RECOVERY = NO PROGRESS Make no mistake about this.

Remember my Note a few weeks ago about Leaning out by adding muscle? How can you add muscle if your body can't recover from 2 workouts a day?

RECOVERY is the key to EVERYTHING folks.

Think of your body like a Bank account:

Your RECOVERY is deposits in the Bank.
Your workouts are withdrawals from the Bank.

What happens when your withdrawals outnumber your deposits?

We need to be stronger EVERY day. You can't get stronger if you can't recover from your workouts.

Realize that building metabolism enhancing muscle will get you leaner FASTER than tons of EXTRA cardio will.

I will give you an excellent example: ME

During my first round of the X I was doing the EIFB almost daily during the last 30 days in an effort to get as lean as possible.

I did get very lean, and I also got down to 168 lbs. Too light for my frame. I burned precious muscle in an effort to lean out.

Lets compare this to my current strategy to lean out for my end of year MDB Final Competition in 2007.

I did NO extra cardio in my efforts to lean out. I was getting STRONGER every workout and giving each workout 100%.

Emphasizing getting stronger, building muscle, and RECOVERING has made all the difference in the world for me.

Here are some thoughts on RECOVERY:

Workouts provide the stimulus for change; the change itself (an improvement in fitness level) takes place during the periods between workouts. How quickly and completely this recovery takes place is result of many commonly overlooked factors, including specific dietary habits, supplementation, age and personal stress levels, just to name a few.

Factors That Effect Recovery Rates

Age - Older individuals will need longer recovery periods than their younger counterparts. It is suggested that around 25 years old is when most trainees will need to start to allow for longer recovery periods.

Experience - More experienced trainees will need less recovery time than new trainees will.

Psychological Factors - Never underestimate the power of the mind. Work, finances, personal relationships and basic everyday life can all cause stress. If left unchecked stress can have very powerful physical manifestations - headaches, insomnia and an increase in catabolic hormones such as cortisol, just to name a few.

Replenishment of Nutrients - The availability of key micro- and macronutrients in a person's nutrition will have a large impact on recovery.

While not usually considered therapeutic, nutrition plays a huge role in the speed and completeness of recovery. Your body needs raw materials to repair and restore bodily systems stressed by training and without adequate nutrition those materials will not be available. Vitamins, minerals, water, protein, carbs and fats must all be present in proper amounts in order for the body to fully recover from training.

A deficiency in even one key nutrient could slow this process down greatly, if not grind it to a complete halt. Proper nutrition can not be stressed enough when talking about the overall success of a fitness program and most trainees' frustration about their lack of progress can be traced back to this recovery factor.

RECOVERY folks...How is yours?

Thanks Mike for these words,

The reason I am posting this on this thread is because it is undoubtedly the MOST IMPORTANT thing you must do moving forward with not only this program but anything you do. Now having said that I must confide that I am guilty of not adhering to the following 100% fact is I don’t do it 90%, 80%, 70% and because of that I miss my mark all the time. Why because I never really had a mark to begin with!

Once you get started you’ll hear Tony (Like a broken record: Write it down), well folks I’m hear to tell you that it’s imperative. And the following is going to be detrimental to your success…

1) DO NOT LISTEN TO YOURSELF: Tens of Thousands of people have succeeded using Beach Body products. Many of them are here on these boards, and FREELY give up the secrets of their success. I’m hear to tell you that the moment you begin to listen to yourself say “I hear ya, sure… Makes sense, BUT I THINK THIS WILL WORK BETTER ” you are done… you’ve just talked yourself out of the road of success.

2) Set the GOAL: A lot has been said and written about goal setting – entire books have been devoted to the subject - but the truth is, most people never decide exactly what they want. Some people give their goals a fleeting thought, but most never get specific and commit their dreams and desires to writing. “Most people,” says Denis Waitley, author of The Psychology of Winning, “spend more time planning a party, studying the newspaper or making a Christmas list than they do planning their lives.” According to Zig Ziglar, an expert on goal setting and one of the nation's most respected motivational speakers, only 3% of Americans have actually taken the time and effort necessary to put their goals to paper. Ziglar compares not having goals to shooting at a target with a blindfold on. “How could you possibly hit a target you can’t even see?” says Zig. If you don’t know where you’re going, you’re probably not going to end up anywhere! Action without planning is the number one cause of failure.

3) Socrates (Not me but the 400bc one) said that Knowledge is Power! There are countless success stories that lay claim to that statement, the issue with that statement is that there our even more failure stories that have proven that statement false with out 1 ingredient. ACTION! Having said this Knowledge is only potential power with out action… Hence why you will see “Push Play” or some form of it everywhere on these threads.

4) Sabatoge!!!! Be aware that you have 2 minds, and conscience and subconscious (not to me mistaken with unconscious, which many people go through life as) minds. A book I recently read By Tom Venuto spoke directly to this and I am including it here: The psychological reason most people sabotage their efforts to lose body fat. The conscious mind is a lot like the captain at the bridge of a ship. The captain gives a command and sends it down to the engine room. The subconscious mind is like the men down in the engine room. No matter what orders come down from the bridge (conscious mind), the crew obeys, even if the orders are stupid ones that crash the ship into a rocky shore. The reason this happens is because the crew (the subconscious) can’t see where the ship is going; they are simply following orders. Like the ship’s crew, your subconscious mind accepts every command your conscious mind gives it – its sole purpose is to obey and carry out your orders, even if you give stupid ones like “I’ll never see my abs.” Frequent repetition of thoughts (mental orders) is one of the most certain ways to penetrate the subconscious mind. This is why, by repeating “I can’t lose weight” over and over, your subconscious will see to it that you never lose weight because that’s its job – to follow your every command literally and without question. If you program your subconscious with negative suggestions often enough, your subconscious will lead you right into cheating on your diet, skipping workouts or some other form of self-sabotage. What you think about repeatedly every day is eventually accepted by your subconscious mind and your subconscious mind guides your actions on “auto-pilot.” This is the basis for the entire positive thinking movement. People who say that positive thinking, affirmations and autosuggestions don’t work for them aren’t using them correctly or consistently; they’re canceling out every positive command with a negative command. If a captain gave an order, “Go east,” but then kept changing his mind; “No, go est…no, go north, etc.,” the ship would never get anywhere! That’s why most people don’t get anywhere in their fitness, bodybuilding or weight loss endeavors, either. Ironically, the very statement “positive thinking doesn’t work” is a negative affirmation that guarantees it won’t work!

5) Eliminate these from you mind: Negative statements and self-defeating questions
I can’t lose weight no matter what I do.
Why can't I lose this last ten pounds?
Why is it so hard for me to lose weight?
I have a slow metabolism.
Why can everyone else lose weight except me? It’s not fair.
It’s not my fault because I don’t have good genetics.
I don't want to be fat anymore.
I wish I could get rid of this gut.
It’ll never work because I like food too much.
I don’t have the willpower to get lean.
I would work out but I don’t have time.
I just can’t get myself up that early to work out.
I hate being fat.
I’ll never see my abs.
I hate cardio.
I can’t.
I’ll try.

6) Replace the above with these: Positive statements and empowering questions
How can I lose fat and enjoy the process?
What can I do today that will help me get closer to my weight loss goal?

Hello Team:

A very good friend of mine asked me about Pull ups!

The question in short is how do I get the numbers up???

Well, to be truthful this is a two fold answer.

1) Fitness is the first

2) Mental interpretation is the next

The first is an obvious outcome of just pushing play but what happens when you change your life and you KNOW your fitness level is a the greatest it has ever been yet you are stuck at the 3 or 4 pull ups or what ever other movement you are trying to accomplish?

This is what you have to do:
If you have a gym then you can walk over to the smith machine and set it right about the height of your belly button and then sit down and straiten out your legs. So you look like you are doing an incline bench press but the bench is missing! If you don’t have that gym membership then you can get that 40.00 bar that attaches to the door at any level (walmart), or the bands that I’ve tried to get many of you to use (Bullzack has them and loves them too). And do the same move. When you have gotten to failure, then do negatives. Get on your regular height bar, and assist yourself up and count 5-10 seconds going down. Do that to failure. This is the way to mentally get out of the plateau

After you’ve don’t this for a short period of time your pullups should go up substantially.

I’ll try to take pictures and post in the future…

Hey Doc was great to come across your post and see you back. Yeah I would definitely like meeting you at the beach.

I have started my own message board so I am posting mostly there now with a few people now and then.

Feel free to email me at john@fitbodynews.com are you at the beach every Saturday or on and off?

John

P.S. Guess now with the new board I am no longer The Driller lol that was my nickname at Pedro's Papi Pain Crew group, we had to have construction related names....

Hey Fine in 09ers. I posted on the old thread but I'll post here as well. I really do not like these new boards but I've missed you all. Not doing the X anymore (for now). Just getting back in gym pumping iron doing some circuit training and HIIT.

I'll try to suck it up and post more.

This is my new goal:

hey everyone,

Well no plyo again last night. Since it is suppose to rain today we were out working on the garden box. Hopefully able to finish it tomorrow and get the truck load of dirt delivered. Bad news as to why we passed up Plyo....it is looking very good that I will have to work July 3 instead of having it off like most people....SUCKS. Especially since I have a house full coming the next day for a BBQ and a few are coming over the night before. So much todo and not enough time to get it all done. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Well check in later off to the dentist and then we have to get Seth over to a B-Day party, he is going scuba diving. LUCKY!!

Kim

Doc,

again WELCOME BACK YOU HAVE BEEN GREATLY MISSED. I will have Carl attach the 30 day photos again. Weird thing is that in the last month I have NOT lost 1#. I have maintained my weight. I am thinking of dropping my calories a little to see if that does the trick, plus we are going more to a modified low carb. Carl is in the same boat. BUT WE ARE FEELING STRONGER AND NOTICING SOME DEFINITITION. It sucks when you try to compensate for past injuries....ie shoulder. I was finally able to do the tri rise using my left arm (couldn't do it last week) - wasn't pretty but I punched out 8 of them on that side alone. I would like to see the scale tip a little though.

Well got to go.

Yay!!
I will follow him...follow him wherever he may go. There isn't an ocean to deep, a mountain so high it keep, keep me away, away from our Doc! (lol..okay, I have the Sister Act Version in my head)

So glad to see this thread restarted Doc. The new format is a bummer, but having you back makes it better.

Yesterday I had to catch up on some sleep because I only had a few hours (not a good idea to attempt P90X with lack of sleep). So today I'll do cardio and back to Shoulder's and Arms tomorrow.

I absolutely cannot eat tortilla chips or that light slow-churned icecream...it's like impossible for me to eat a normal portion, so I just can't have it at all.

I noticed that we're about 4 months from Halloween and I want to look hot in my costume, so that it what I will visualize when I pass the pantry or the freezer and think of either of those items. Not buying them isn't really an option because my husband loves chips and salsa or hummus (and it's one of the only ways he gets veggies in) and both my son and husband love to have icecream. If I don't buy it in a carton, then he goes to Cold Stone or Maggie Moos and that's so much more expensive.

I did try the Clean-Eating Granola recipe that was in July's Oxygen issue. It's pretty good...though I cut the serving in half due to the amount of calories. But it would be great on yogurt.

I look back at what I was eating a few years ago and definately see that I'm eating a wider variety of foods, so I'm definately pleased with the direction my eating is going.

Hope to start seeing more people get back into Doc's thread.
