Obese and Starting Insanity
Showing 15 results.
I am a 42 year old plus size lady. I have lost 66 pounds and have about 90 or more to go. Insanity is not my first Beachbody workout I have used. I have done HipHop Abs and TurboJam. I wanted to challenge myself a bit more so wanted to use Insanity. Yesterday I did the Fit Test and today the first workout. I am not able to do some of the moves like the floor drills. I ended up doing some push-ups. Am I getting over my head by doing Insanity? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa!

Great job on your weight loss so far! That's awesome!! The main thing with Insanity is just do your best. Make sure you do not compromise your form and modify your exercises, like you did, where you need to. Just do your best, stay focused on your goal, and make sure you are taking in the correct number of clean calories everyday. You are not getting in over your head. You can do this!

Thanks for your support Jeff!

I have completed 4 days of Insanity and each day is getting a little better. I was going to give up and go back to a different workout but by pushing through it and your support I will continue!

Thanks again,
Melissa

congratulations on your success so far. The most important thing I can recommend is to listen to your body, and ensure correct form. It is okay to modify or take a break when needed, then go back and push play. It is also extremley important to ensure you eating the correct calories. I track my food intake as it's one way help me stay accountable. Keep up the awesome the work- you can and will do it!!

Congratulations on your weight loss thus far! That is truly amazing. I admire your thirst for fitness!! I don't think you're being overzealous, but I would recommend modifying and pacing yourself. If you choose to do Insanity, I would recommend doing a few rounds of it. Don't be afraid to pause the video or modify the moves. Everything is about progress, not perfection. Keep checking in with us on the boards and keep pushing play!

Thanks Lisa!
I am sticking with it and things are getting easier emoticon I still am having trouble with the Drill 1 exercises but I am not giving up! I felt like it yesterday. I didn't eat "clean" over the weekend and went out to a healthy dinner Sunday evening but came right home and exercised. Not a smart idea... I refuse to give up at this point. It will be interesting when I do the next Fit Test emoticon

Thanks again!
Melissa

Melissa,

You are doing awesome. Just remember who and what you are doing this for.

I was once in the Army (4 years) and then a police officer (5 years, 4 of which was SWAT and K9). Insanity still kicked my tail. I have had to modify some of the moves due to my knees. Just do the best you can.

Hang with it and do not feel bad about doing your best. Notice on the videos there are some that cannot hang. These are people who have done these exercises a thousand times but still have to stop for water or catch their breath.

Do all you can do and remember to Dig Deeper!!!

Awesome job so far. I am looking forward to seeing the changes you will make. Hang in there. We are here for you.

Mike emoticon

And by the way... the fit tests always kick my tail...

Wow! Thanks Mike!!
I have to remember that I can modify without compromising my form. I keep thinking when I am working out, "What would Shaun be saying to me right now?"
I am so thankful for all the support I find here!
Thanks again,

Just an update for those who have been interested and are supporting me... I recently did my second fit test and saw improvement in all areas. I am able to do all the drills (some in moderation)! I find that some of the workouts still kick my butt and I modify in some areas still. I feel great and am sticking with it!!
