RE: Recommended Mens Shoes for T25
Showing 13 results.
Hello,

I'm currently on week two of T25. Digging the program, its different and a new challenge. I'm not new to beach body workouts, as I have completed P90x, Hip Hop Abs & Insanity. Over the last year, I have integrated Insanity and P90x into a weekly workout routine. I was pleased to come across a workout with new exercises to shake up the routine.

With T25, I'm finding my ankles to become sore. This is largely due to the different type of workouts; there is a number of quick jumping moves that are new for me which I think is contributing to the soreness. This is a first time occurrence for me. I didn't experience ankle soreness with Insanity.

Looking for some recommendations on shoes for this workout. I have never had ankle pain before, so its not a trend. I know cross trainers are always suggested, but some of them are heavier and I tend to favor good running shoes with support for these high intensity workouts.

Thanks,
Jamie

Jamie, have you try bare foot? This is what Shaun T recommends for Insanity. I had the same problem until I begin doing it bare foot on a yoga mat. Let me know if this helps.

I agree with you on the running shoes, some people stay away from them because they can be a little too flexible for some people but they work great for me. I do my workouts (INSANITY and Asylum at the moment) in a pair of Muzarro (spelling not right) wave runners and some insoles with extra cushion in the heal to take the shock of jumping and extra arch support that the Fleet Feet (local running store here) put me in due to my flat feet, and they have been great for the workouts and for me.

Do you have two of these posts? I thought I posted "Innov-8 cross trainers" on this one already. Or maybe I dreamed it...lol. Either way, I am a huge proponent for those!! I have the feather light variety and they are amazing!

CoachJohnX - Think that's just for Insanity? Or for the Asylum too? Not having the ridged grips on my Reebok Zigs Crosstrainer shoes might help me not get my jump rope hung up on the hopscotch jump rope!

Thanks Alberto! Wanted to let you know, I did go barefoot for a few days until I found the right shoes. I was surprised to find that I could complete the workouts, and feel no pain in my knees/ankles afterwards. However, through the course of the three days, I found I could not perform the exercises to the intensity I could with good shoes. This was good advice and will be used in times I feel any pain in the future.

Thanks Justin. After a few days of trying different shoes, I did go with the Mizuno Wave Sayonara. I liked this shoe for a number of reasons:

1. super light
2. low to the ground, so its easy to balance, perform jumping/side to side exercises, and not feel like I might lose my balance.
3. though low to the ground, it has enough padding to absorb some of the impact from jumping exercises.

I also had custom insoles made as I have high arches. Turns out these shoes are used by a number of people that perform these high intensity exercises.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will totally be recommending this shoe, it is the best I have had to date.

Thanks for your suggestion. I noticed Sean T does use these shoes in one of his workouts on T25 as well. I tried a pair on; however, for me, felt the shoe was to low to the ground, with no cushion. I think that's clearly by design of the shoe, but for me, to preserve my knees, not sure the shoe would work. I went with the Mizuno Wave Sayonara. Thanks again though for taking the time to reply.

Thanks John, this will be good to review for future reference. I read this after already purchasing some shoes, which are my favorite to date. They are the Mizuno Wave Sayonara. Purchased these with custom soles for arch support. Shoes are pretty solid:

1. Light
2. Low to the ground
3 Small amount of padding to help with knees for jumping exercises
4 Perfect mix between a running shoe and cross trainer

I feel very quick on my feet with these shoes and not pains sense using.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

I personally have found going barefoot with T25 and Insanity has helped with all of my foot pain. I am sure there are shoes available that would probably be better for me, but if you are in a bind and don't have any decent shoes available i would try barefoot. PS. i am loving T25 so far, how are you liking it?

Thanks,
Dave
