Not Losing/Didn't Lose Weight or Inches (INSANITY & T25)
I completed INSANITY at the end of August. By the end of the program, I had gained 2 pounds and not lost any inches. I followed the 40/40/20 plan from the nutrition guide. I was at 1700 calories for a few weeks, bumped it up to 1900 for a couple of weeks and then went back down to 1700 for the last few weeks.

I went on vacation for a week after doing INSANITY. I didn't do any exercise however we walked a lot. Plus I thought it would be good to take a break after finished INSANITY.

I just finished my 4th week of T25. I am now up another 3 pounds from when I finished INSANITY and have not lost any inches still. In fact, they seem to have gone up a bit. I am following the 1600 calorie eating guideline in the nutrition book, again keeping with the 40/40/20 macros.

I'm 27, 5'4" and now 155lbs. I also run 3x a week (1.6 miles 2x a week and 2.4 miles 1x a week) in addition to T25. I don't have time/access to weights. I have dumbbells at home that range up to 15lbs. I do 20-30 minutes of lifting with those 2x a week. I'm hoping to get some heavier ones in the near future.

Anyone have any input on why I'm not losing weight or inches? It is so frustrating because I have so much fat around my stomach, back and thighs. I'm starting to get concerned that it is stubborn fat/skin that won't ever go away with diet/exercise. I use MyFitnessPal to track all of my food and have been doing that for over a year and a half (also exercising that long). I weigh/measure everything I eat. I met my goal weight of 130 in September 2012, but once I switched to a maintenance level of calories, it all went downhill and I am now up 25 pounds in a year (I know some if it is muscle and my body just regulating). I had all of my blood work down in the beginning of the year and everything was normal (including thyroid). I am at a complete loss emoticon

My first question is regarding nutrition...can you list your daily diet, complete with food choices, serving sizes, etc.? Be as specific as possible.

My question is the same as Bandit's.

Your situation is a bit peculiar. Using Harris Benedict equation and your stats, I come up with either 2325 or 2850 as your daily maintenance. So if we were to subtract 500 from either of those as a deficit it puts you at roughly 1800 to 2,350 to lose a pound per week. If you were simply not losing weight I'd think it was undereating. But you say you're actually putting lots of weight back on while eating at those levels or less.

I'm glad to hear you had your bloods done and they came back normal.

My hunch is you're missing some key nutritional component that is holding you back.

My typical meals I rotate:

Breakfast: Protein shake; egg whites with a whole wheat english muffin and fruit; egg white burrito (low carb, whole wheat tortilla) and fruit; cottage cheese and fruit

Lunch: brown rice and chicken; tuna sandwich and carrots/cucumber;

Dinner: turkey burger and salad; turkey meatballs or chicken & whole wheat pasta; chicken breast and salad; turkey chili & salad

Snacks (2 per day): protein bar & fruit; turkey wrap & carrots/cucumber; greek yogurt w/ protein powder & apple; protein bar & fruit; egg "mcmuffin" style sandwich & fruit; PBJ & fruit

That is a basic outline of what I eat in a normal week (it's not all inclusive). Sometimes I move things around (like something I usually eat for lunch becomes a snack one day or something). Each of my meals is approximately 300 calories (as indicated in the INSANITY nutrition guide). I eat 5 times a day. Sometimes I'll have a little chocolate at the end of the day if I have the calories for it. I'm not completely innocent in that I do have some overage/splurge days, but none so bad/often that I shouldn't "regulate" back out in a few days.

I will hopefully be able to start Shakeology in a few weeks. Not that that will be my "cure all", but maybe it'll help a little?

For the most part the food choices look solid; I do think that you could replace some of the processed carbs like English muffins/tortillas/pasta with some beneficial fats as your diet appears a bit low in them.

Here's my thought: if you're eating these foods and putting on weight, then my guess is that you're consuming more calories than you think you are consuming. Clearly it's not a case of a slowed metabolism, because you wouldn't be gaining consistently in that situation. Do you measure your portions? It isn't something that you have to do long-term, but for nailing down portion sizes to the point where you don't have to guess, it can be very helpful.

I'd say start measuring/weighing your foods methodically for a few weeks to ensure that you aren't over-eating, and also try to skip your splurge days for a short while as they can throw off your calorie calculations.

I'd also hold off on spending your money on Shakeology until you get your baseline nutrition nailed down; just my opinion.

Hope that helps.

I think he's on to something with the question about if you're measuring correctly. Your diet looks healthy, overall. You might also swap out a bit of egg white for a whole egg or two. Lots of good fats in egg yolk.

I weigh/measure everything that I eat, unless it is already coming in a pre-packaged portion. The food scale and I are really good friends emoticon

Then I would say it may be related to a specific food type...you might try eliminating everything that isn't a 100% whole food (i.e. breads, shakes, powders, etc.) for a little while and see if that helps.

This is such a great post. I'm always telling people that the scale is the least important measure of success. A person can totally transform, sometimes, while the scale stays the same. This is especially true of those of us who have not gotten obese but just turned soft around the middle. Belly off. Biceps on. Scale the same.
