Not sure this is "legal" on the plan, but I used it a few times when I had a bad craving. I'd put a cup of milk in a glass and heat in the microwave a minute or so, stir, another 30 seconds, stir, another 30, stir. Then I'd add about a teaspoon or so of cocoa powder, which didn't add many calories, though I think I read that cocoa powder is high in fat. Honestly though, given how little you're putting into the glass, it seemed negligible to me, so I didn't worry. Since I didn't want to add sugar or splenda, I got creative and put a few dashes of cinnamon and about a half teaspoon of vanilla extract. It didn't taste like traditional hot chocolate, but it was still chocolately and tasted good, so I was pleased. Hope this helps!

Anyone reading this w/ feedback on whether or not this sounds allowable on P90X, please comment. As I'm learning, this beverage is likely one of those "all things in moderation" things....

If you are not sensitive to artificial sweeteners, it's worth knowing that Nestle's fat free hot chocolate mix is only 25 calories per packet. That's not too shabby. I've been known to pour coffee on that stuff to make a low-calorie mocha. However, there is a lot of controversy over artificial sweeteners (they may not be good for us, they may even make us gain weight according to the latest research). Probably not a big deal if it's "a sometimes food", but not a good idea to make it an every day thing.

This isn't hot chocolate, but it tastes similar enough (and I'd argue better) that if I drink it instead, my cravings are curbed.
Yogi makes a tea called Mayan Cocoa Spice. It has things like cocoa shells, cinnamon oil, and cardamon in it. It's tea, so as long as you don't add anything to it, any calories that might be in there are not enough to be worth mentioning.
If you want it sweetened, you can try brewing crushed stevia leaves with the tea. It would be both healthier and cheaper to buy the leaves themselves instead of refined powders or liquids you might find.

Hi there, I drink chocolate soy milk and one cold day I really wanted hot chocolate, so I heated the chocolate soy on the stove, heat it slowly. Maybe not for everyone, but it work for me.emoticon

An excellent hot chocolate drink is low fat milk with sugar free (Splenda)Torani chocolate syrup(the type used in coffee and soda drinks) and heat in the microwave. I drink it at night and it tastes just like hot chocolate, fills me up, and satisfies my sweet tooth. The Torani syrup has zero calories per 30 oz, which is more than enough.

We add 2 packets of splenda plus half a cup of skim milk, half a cup of water plus 1 1/2 teaspoon of Ghirardelli cocoa. The Ghirardelli chocolate gives the hot chocolate a rich and full flavor.

If you're still looking here is a recipie for a Low Calorie/ Zero Sugar Hot Cocoa Mix.

1/3 Cup nonfat dry milk
3 Tbsp Non-dairy creamer
3 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (non sweetned)
1/8 tsp kosher salt
13 packets stevia type sweetner( Pure Via, Truvia, Stevia in the Raw)

Mix all together and use 3 Tbsps with 6 oz. of hot water.

You can play around with the amounts to make it perfect tasting for you. It has about 35 calories per serving.
