RE: colon cleanse
colon cleanse

Getting ready to start into the Si6 program this week. My diet up until now has included way too much processed and fried foods. One thing that I have noticed is that when I gain weight I bloat very badly. The weight does not really go on as belly fat, but the stomach is very tight and gets worse as the day progresses. Not too bad except that I have an umbilical hernia from splitting my rectus muscles when I was pregnant. By the end of the day the hernia is sometimes the size of a ping pong ball and very painful. Not a surgical candidate because it is not "medically necessary" Would a cleanse help with this issue and if so any suggestions?

I really don't know the answer to this but do you mean a fast or a colonic? If a fast, it wouldn't hurt to try. If a colonic, I'm not a fan. They seem so faddish and pointless to me.

I did this one before I started p90x last week. It's the Ivy Briggs colon cleanse:

Ivy Briggs Colon Cleansing Formula.
1/2 cup organic, unfiltered (preferably raw or unpasteurized) apple juice – if you cannot find raw apple juice, then pasteurized is acceptable if you add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons chlorophyll

2 tablespoons aloe vera juice – make sure you get juice, not drink. Aloe vera drink is mainly water.

1 heaping teaspoon psyllium husk powder (preferably unflavored)

2 capsules of cascara sagrada(an herbal laxative)

1 glass water

This works after the first days, you see things you have never seen before. Warning, you may get cramping and make sure you know where the nearest bathroom is at all times. When this hits it hits fast. I didnt use the Aloe Vera juice, I could not find it. You take the capsules of cascara after the drink with water.

How many times do you drink the water a day? How many days of drinking the water? or is this a one time deal?

The water is a separate issue, you just use water to take the cascara capsules.

Basically you mix the Chlorophyll, Psysillium powder and Aloe (if you have it) with apple juice (i used OJ). You drink that and then take the cascara capsules with water.

Do this every day for as long as you want. I did it for 10 days and will take a break.

You will definitely see results. This is all natural stuff and fairly cheap.

Unless you have some health issue that interferes with your digestive function, there should never be a need for a colon cleanse; the colon does exactly what it is supposed to without "cleanses".

There is absolutely no scientific evidence that colonics, etc. are helpful, and can infact be harmful.

Just eat well and drink a healthy amount of water.

I agree with you, but I think they're talking about a drink here, not a colonic.

Even so. A laxative drink is not a "colon cleanse", and there's on good reason to put yourself through cramping and bathroom urgency.
