Does anybody here own a Vita-Mix?
Showing 11 results.
And if so do you actually use it all the time?
It's expensive so I have trouble buying it unless it's really a Caddy worth driving.

If you own one, will you tell me why you love it and maybe drop in your favorite recipe? TIA

Yes, we do, and I LOVE it! We use it to make homemade Peanut Butter (made from peanuts and that's all!), delicious broth soups, smoothies, ice cream/sorbets, batters, sauces, pesto, etc. I am so glad that we decided to get it, even though it was expensive, because we have had it for over 3 yrs now, and it still works beautifully! I use it just about every day for my Shakeology, and I add a banana and peanut butter with a cup or more of ice. Makes it the most delicious "Milkshake" EVER!!! I LOVE IT! I know it's a bit of money to pay, but we have also used it to make homemade baby food, which has saved us LOADS of money after three babies (and now we have another on the way, so the pay off keeps coming!). There may be cheaper options, but the versatility and quality of this mixer, thinking of how long it lasts (I have seen people have theirs for more than 30 yrs!) the cost is worth it to me! Yours in HEALTH!

YES!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! And aside from that I really can't say anything about it that blessedmama hasn't said! Vitamix goes to Costco on road shows usually twice a year and it is far cheaper that way than through Vitamix. Plus you get the costco guarantee in case you have buyers remorse afterwards, lol. But trust me...you won't!

Yes I do, and it is great appliance. Also, you might look at the redisetgo appliance to go along, I use both which make it easier to make meals for the now, and to save in fridge for a later date.

Vitamix= Yes
Redisetgo= No. Look at the size of the woman selling it, and listen to the complaints of customers who are signed up for Xtra baloney.

OK I just bought one at BJ's. An early Christmas present to myself.
I threw in 2 apples, a bunch of grapes, half a banana, some frozen strawberries a little protein powder and some water.
Pretty darn tasty.
The good thing is other than peeling the banana and pulling the grapes off the stems, ya just toss everything in whole.
I made the mistake of buying a juicer a year ago but it gets rid of a lot of whats good for you (fiber and pulp) and gives you a little watery tasting juice.
This thing ended up making to much on my first experiment and it tasted much better. That;s a complaint I can live with.

We'll see how long I can go before the carafe gets sullied by the addition of vodka.

A year later and I love the Vitamix.

Here is the greatest tasting fruit smoothie I've stumbled upon with my Vitamix.

Buy a Watermelon and a whole pineapple because these will be base fruits for your drink for 4 days.
Keep them in the fridge cause everything tastes a little better the colder it is.

1/4 to 1/5th of a Watermelon. Filet it like a fish and toss it in. Store the rest of the WM in a plastic bag in the fridge. Because the WM is predominantly water, you don't have to add any water or ice to this drink.

1/4 of a Pineapple. Store the rest in tuppaware.
1/2 a banana
1 scoop vanilla protein. I use Wheybolic Xtreme 60 (GNC)
half a cup of frozen blueberries.
half a cup of frozen strawberries
1 whole orange peeled, but don't worry about the pith. Your Blendtec or Vitamix will atomize it.

Crank that up to high and you will dig it.

If you want to add Flax seed, toss raw flax into your blender 1st when its dry. Pulverize the flax cause that's the only way to digest it, and then store the flax in the fridge or itll go bad. You can also throw yogurt into this.

Sometimes I change this up by throwing a handful of basil, or a bell pepper or a carrot into it.
But use that combination I gave you first as your base and I'll be stunned if you don't like it. I pretty much make one of these once a day. I'd never eat that much fruit otherwise and with the BT you'll get all the fiber.

Love my Vitamix. My recipe for my daily smoothie (I drink this every morning and it is so filling that I rarely am hungry until late afternoon):

For 2 people:

1/2 orange peeled (pith left on)
1/2 lime peeled
1/2 Kiwi peeled
5 baby carrots
1/2 cup grapes
1 inch slice of zucchini
1 inc slice of yellow squash
1 inch slice of cucumber
1/2 cup of coleslaw mix
1 cup of spinach
1/2 inch slice of pineapple (peeled but not cored, the core is healthy)
1/4 cup cranberries
1/2 cup strawberries
1 cup blueberries
1/2 cup juice (antioxidant heavy like Acai or Pomegranate)
1/2 cup soy/almond milk
2 T ground flax
2 T wheat germ
2 T chia seed
3 T protein isolate (any preferred variety)
1 T Honey

This makes about 2 big glasses full.

You can add in other things as you want. Sometimes I add in papaya, cantaloupe, raspberries, apple, pear, lemon. Basically add in anything you want.

I use organic whenever possible (especially spinach). I use frozen berries and precut and freeze things like my pineapple, papaya or melon.
