The Results Are In! - Insanity vs. P90X Plyometrics
p90x insanity endurance cardio stamina plyometrics knee tucks testimony

I was very curious how Plyo X would measure up after doing Insanity non-stop for 9 weeks. I did it a couple of days ago (Plyo X) and I have to sheepishly admit that it felt somewhat like a recovery workout compared to Insanity. <_<

Whereas I'm sweating about 5 minutes into Insanity, it took me about 20 minutes to start breaking a sweat in Plyo X. Originally, I would be sweating about 10 minutes into the X workout. If this is not a testimony to the amount of endurance you build up in Insanity, then not sure what is.

Not that Plyo X is easy - it's definitely not. However, it was much, MUCH easier after building up the stamina required for Insanity. Plyo X felt like the Max Cardio Recovery workout in comparison.

The thing that made me realize how far I had come was when everyone is doing Jump Knee Tucks in Plyo X. These are moves where you are basically jumping up and down in place over and over again. Dominick (sp?) does at least one per second for 30 seconds, non-stop. Truly admirable feat of endurance.

For the first time since doing Plyo X (been doing P90X for almost 5 years), I was able to keep up with him. Did the entire 30 seconds without stopping. Was it easy? No way! But I'd never done it before, which was very telling.

Anyone else notice their endurance and tolerance for the burn increasing?

Agreed with you here! Plyo is an awesome workout, but multiplying it by about 10 is how I feel about Insanity.

I concur...Plyo X has nothing on Insanity. With Insanity, U build up ur endurance quickly..week 2 I was already stronger, faster and less winded during the workouts. I think because it is extremely challenging, ur body is forced to adapt faster.

Love this workout!

I did my first P90X workout yesterday, Chest and Back, and I did lose some strenght but I also haven't been "lifting" for 2 months but my cardio was so much better for C & B. My recover between exercise was awesome and I was able to concentrate on the exercise without taxing my cardio. I was loving it. I'm going to start a P90X/Insanity hybrid in November for 90 days. Can't wait.
