Mixin' it up with RevAbs- 11/9 Start!

Are you starting RevAbs in November? Just in time for the Holidays.

Are you interested in mixing RevAbs with ANY other program or exercise?

Are you curious about RevAbs and whether it will work for you?

Come on in and Mix it Up with RevAbs!

Hey, I'm Coach Lonny, a P90X and Insanity grad. I will be starting RevAbs as my main program on 11/9 but also want to incorporate some other workouts. Whether it’s any of the Beachbody programs or any other weight/cardio workouts, I’m going to add in at least 3 more additional workouts each week. The RevAbs program will be the core program we will be following, and if you want to include other workouts in addition then this is best area for you.

I've lost 20lbs and gained 7lbs of muscle dropped 10% BF so far. I just turned 40 in August and making working out a “rest of my life” commitment.

Anyone want to join me?

Starting on 11/9/09 will give you all ample opportunity to order the program, review it, and ask me any questions.

Best regards,
Lonny

Hey Lonny -

Sounds good! I ordered Rev Abs last Thursday, so I am not sure of my start date, but like you I was going to mix in other programs.
I was thinking mostly P90X weight routines. I love them and have got awesome results.

I've been trying to sort out what other routine(s)/exercise(s) to add to RevAbs myself so any guidance in that area would be great!

I did P90X from April-July and loved the results. Unfortunately my eating hasn't been great (an understatement) and I'm fighting a losing battle with hypothyroidism and medication struggles so the scale has gone back up and worse yet, the inches around my stomach are back and then some.

I started RevAbs tonight and plan to do a secondary workout in the evenings (RevAbs will be my a.m. workout) but I don't know what that ought to be.

Any suggestions?

Hey Richelle and Rebecca,

My routine will Rev Abs in the A.M. and P90X 3 times a week with the lifting. Instead of doing the legs and back routine I'll be doing something llke this..

P90X 3x a week every other day

Month 1, week 1, 3
1. Chest and Back
2. Shoulders and Arms
3. Back and Biceps

Month 1, week 2, 4
1. Chest, Shoulders and Triceps
2. Back and Biceps
3. Shoulders and Arms

You see how I kind of switch it up a little but still concentrating on total upper body. we are already hitting our abs pretty much every day anyway.

Here's an example of Adding in Insanity

Month 1 , week 1,3
1. Plyo Cardio Circuit
2. Pure Cardio
3. Cardio Power and Resistance

Month 1 week 2, 4
1. Max Intervals
2. Max Cardio Conditioning
3. Max Plyo

So there's a couple of ideas.. You can do 1 month of the P90x Rotation then Month 2 the Insanity, and even then , Month 3 switch it up with both....

Rebecca - What other programs do you have?? I sympathize with your condition. I know it must be hard. Have you checked with your doctor about these exercise routines Let me know what the doctor says... and welcome to the group.

Richelle - Welcome aboard. Do you have other programs other then p90X? I'm also going to see what else I can maybe throw in there also. Well, I feel up to it.. heheh...

Can you let me know how you would suggest adding Chalean Extreme since it's upper and lower body in a lot of her workouts? I've got P90X but prefer CE. Maybe I could use the push circuit like you're using the P90 videos since that focuses on one body part.

Hi damaranicole,

Well so far from what I can see Rev Abs only uses light weights to strengthen the abs and back areas. He does do squats and lunges, but again not with heavy weights. I would suggest if you wanted to start another round of CE with RevAbs then go right ahead. Do just the Circuit programs for each Phase. If you want to throw in the intervals, maybe do that on a day after or 2 when you feel good enough to get that 4th CE workout in.

I wouldn't do any of CE's ab routines. Now that would be overkill.

Basically what I mean is that you are going to have to figure out how much you can do without over doing it. Phase 1 of RevAbs, looks easy but don't let that fool you. It's specifically targeting the core.. Phase 2 is going to be tougher, but this program is not like the others. It's 45 days of working out with the same programs, not like the others. 30/30/30 or 30/30 this is 45/45 .

I'm not going to tell everyone to go for it. You all have to listen to your own bodies. What I am saying is that we should add other weight routines so we don't lose muscle mass amd to target other areas.

If you feel wasted, then lighten up the load with CE.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Lonny

If you're a CE grad then I'd start off with the Push Circuit for the first 45 days (circuits only) and then in phase two you can decide if you want to continue with Push and just keep going heavier or use Burn or Lean, it depends how hard Phase two is for you! But Push would my first choice as a CE grad emoticon

Hey guys,

I'm in, I'd love to join this, I should be receiving my program today. I plan on starting it tonight, if not 11/2. I was thinking of incorporating Chalean Extreme as well, but maybe I'l see how the first week of RevAbs works before mixing in something else. I was worried about mixing them b/c then I wouldn't know which program I was getting the results from, but whatev. I look forward to working out w. you guys; I'm very excited about this program, hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Hi everyone.. what a great thread idea. Are yous adding workouts to up the intensity? Is RevAbs on it's own not enough? I like to do a program as is the first time around.. maybe I'll add some 10 minute trainer workouts if the upper or lower body areas are lacking.

Yeah, I may have spoken too soon haha. I think it was intense for me, but since I started today I'm sure by 11/9 I'll be fine to add Chalean Extreme. I haven't tried the other workouts, but its a doable program. The plan since Jan 5th 09 was to do Chalean Extreme, so I'd love to actually finish that this year so I can stop postponing P90X emoticon.

Ok - so here I go !

Got my Rev Abs today. Going to start on Monday 11-2.
I am adding three weight workouts from P90X in with my RevAbs per week.

RevAbs looks good, but does not concentrate as much on weights.

I dont want to lose what I gained from P90X.

Hey everyone,

afteracup:
Hey Lonny, where'd ya go?

I'm here, sorry about that. Had alot of Halloween stuff going on with my kids.

fitisthenewblk - Welcome to the group. good idea to get used to the program and then adding in the Chalean X. Rev abs is very core intense and I did feel it after doing a couple of the workouts last week. This will get you in shape for P90X.

r1pp3d- welcome to the group as well. Rev Abs is actually intense, but it's not a muscle building progam. It's dedicated more to the core. So adding in 10 minute trainer is a good idea. That's what this area is all about.

Richelle42 - Hey wait for me.. LOL .. That's ok . emoticon

So everyone, take your time with adding in the extra programs. See how your body responds. You are going to be sore the first week. I was just after 2 workouts. it's different moves. Hey, if you want to jump right in. Go right ahead.

I also want to introduce Christy. She is my coach and has a very great group on eating clean. If anyone is interested. Hey Christy. Tell everyone about it..

Everyone who started and who are starting tomorrow. Give us the updates. If you added in another workout, please tell us about that too.....

Happy Belated Halloween emoticon

Well I started officially yesterday,

I did the workouts as scheduled, but didn't feel like it was enough so I added a video from the second 45 days. It went well. I am a bit concerned that the first 45 days will be a bit easy for me. So, I am augmenting it with at least 3 workouts from Tony, mostly weight workouts from P90X, but I did just go out and purchase a couple of his one one one cardio video's I have had my eye on. For whatever reason, I get bored with cardio video's really fast. I like to keep a lot of them in my arsenal for a bit of variety.

I really like Rev Abs, and although I realize it has only been two days, I really feel like the video's are doing what they say they should.

My diet is usually under control, but I have been cracking down on myself even more this week.
Just have to be careful to eat enough calories, dont want to go into starvation mode. Bad, Bad, Bad.

Anyone else start yet or are you waiting for next Monday?

Hey Richelle,

The first 45 days is supposed to really get you to get into month 2. I hear ya though.

That's why I created this. I'm used to doing doubles. So I was all for other's to add some workouts in the mix. It's a good program to get started with doing doubles too...

I did 3 of the 4 workouts, I'm pacing ,,, but trying them out. So far, I can see myself needing more. I do like that my abs were sore.

Yeah watch out for starvation mode. I just read that eating 4-6 smaller meals keeps the metabolism up, but here's the kicker. Even though you are staying in your calorie range, it's good to up the calories alot for a day or 2, this way your body thinks it's not starving. So go ahead and watch the cals.. then go nuts. well not too nuts. You get what I mean.

Have a good day 3..

Hey Everyone,

I'd like to talk about over training.

Seems like alot of people can be scared off of working out more than 1 time per day.

Here's somethings you can do to not fall prey.

First workout should be the Rev Abs workout.

Doing the second workout you should not go all out at first or at all.

When lifting weights, lighten the load, even up to 50% and work up from there. Also do less reps. If this is your first time doing double routines in one day, stick to this.

Body weight exercises, such as push ups, pull ups - don't go for max reps. Try, again, start out at 50% and work up again.

Bands -- Go to a lighter band or lower your reps..

Cardio - this also depends on what it is, but again, pace yourself. Don't have to keep up with the cast on the videos.

You should also up your calories to not put your body into too much of a deficit.

DO NOT COMPROMISE FORM...

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this subject.

Lonny

Lonny-

Yes, thanks I've read a ton on eating right. So I do eat 5-6 "meals" a day. I even go so far as to make sure those meals have a fibeous carb ( veggie usually ) and protein in all of them.
Bummed out today. Had insomnia last night - only got 4 hours of sleep so had to skip my morning workout to sleep in instead. I did work out at lunch, unfortunately, not as hard as I would like, considering I am hiding out in my office to do it.
Cant workout tonight, too much kid duty, so hopefully sleep will come to me and I can make up for it Thursday.

So frustrating when my life doesn't cooperate with my workout schedule. emoticon
