21 day fix; meal plan - help!
Showing 18 results.
Hi,
Last week I signed up for the 21 day fix challenge & currently am awaiting my order between 7-10 days. I'm so excited! The order wait gives me some time to get an understanding of my meal plan, great! However, I have a few concerns & questions.
Ok, so I chose the power vegetarian plan as I have been a vegetarian for 8-9 years now. Using the meal plan wizzard I selected I wanted to loose a lot of weight, being my end goal. My calorie intake per day result was 1300. I think the meal guide looks great and I know I can follow it, I'm strong willed. However my concern is - will this be enough nutrition for my body while doing my workout in the run of a day, I'm a full time nurse & mom ontop.
Should I be concerned or should it suffice? Any thoughts or helpful comments?

Thanks,
Jessie

Hi Jessie,

I'm so glad you asked this question. Go back and redo the inputs for your stats but pick "Lose some weight" instead of "lose a lot of weight."

For some reason when you chose "a lot of weight" it calculates based on a 1,000 calorie deficit, which is WAY too large. Clicking "some weight" will use a 500 calorie deficit. So based on what you're saying I'm guessing it'll come in at 1800.

Feel free to post your stats here and we can go over them.

Thank you, Andrew! I did redo my stats, with the only change being "loose some weight" vs. "loose a lot of weight"
My calorie intake recommendation is now 1500. Which should keep my energy fueled for this challenge and my lifestyle. I appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Jessie

Hi there,

Just curious, I still waiting for my 21 Day Fix program to arrive (i'm on the east coast and the snow is killing us - delays, delays, delays!) and I'm just wondering where you were able to calculate your calorie intake? Is there a link or something? I've been searching everywhere to get a head start but cant find anything!

Any insight would be great. Thanks!
Tara

Let me help you with that. 21 Day Fix has its own simple formula to calculate calorie level. It goes like this:

A. Your current weight in lbs x 11 = ________ This is your caloric baseline.

B. Your caloric baseline + 400 = Your caloric needs. This is caloric baseline + the 400 calorie burn for the fix workouts.

then

C. Your caloric needs - 750 = your calorie target. That's the deficit to create weight loss.

So, if weigh 150 lbs it's going to look like this.

11 x 150 = 1650 Caloric Baseline
1650 + 400 = 2050 Caloric Needs
2050 -750 = 1300 your calorie target.

Then, 21 Day fix breaks things down into groups from 1300- 1499, 1500-1799, 1800-2099 and 2100-2300. You are given a number of containers of various foods per day, depending on where you fall.
If you fall under 1300 you round up to 1300. If you fall above 2300 you round down to that bracket.

Do we fill the cup before or after cooking? For example: zucchini and squash. Do I fill the cup up before I bake it in the oven or after? The squash & zucchini shrink in the oven. So by the time its cooked its like one or 2 bites.

It says in the nutrition guide after each food. But the general rule is this: If you're eating food cooked, fill it cooked. If you're eating food raw, fill it raw.

Hi

I just started 21 day fix program couple days ago, 1st day I lost 2 lbs.. Yay..!! I'm in my week #5 of P90X (3rd round) I started 21 day fix program because I want to learn how to eat healthy, so, I'm doing both programs, I do both workouts at the end of the day, so, I feel like I really really need my "recovery drink" from beach body, does it count as protein? (red) also, any suggestions about modify my containers since I'm doing double workout?

BTW, I'm doing the 1,200 calories

Thank you so much for your help

Yes Shakeology counts as one red container which is protein if you mix it with water.

Wow.

You are eating nowhere near enough for the amount of exercise you are doing. Between the two programs you're probably burning at LEAST 600 calories right there. That only leaves your body 600 calories for everything else it needs energy for. I urge you to immediately up the calories to what the P90X nutrition book suggests based on your current height/weight/age/activity level.

Recovery drink isn't really figured into the 21 Day fix plan because it's not considered necessary for someone doing that workout. But if you are doing it count it as a YELLOW container. It is a carb.

I have a question about the 21-Day Fix plan. I'm at about 1500 calories, which puts me on the line between the first and second plan. I noticed that the veggies, fruit, carbs, and fat all increase, but not the protein. Since this adds way more carbs and a little more fat to the plan, but no more protein, isn't this going to throw the macros off? It seems like this calorie plan (1500-1799) is way higher in carb % than the others.

I am in the same boat. I am starting first week of month 3 of p90x and starting the fix. I am burning at least 600 calories a day with just workouts alone. I tracked my food using the containers and I was under and thousand!!! I am upping myself a bracket and might need to go up one more. I want to at least hit 1000. I weight 149 and that 1300 cal was not cutting it for me. I have noticed an increase in my taste bud sensitivity though.

Any suggestions on which bracket to use would be appreciated.
