not sure if this is the place to post this, if not, sorry, anyway,I've worked out on and off my whole life mostly lifting weights so i've always been in decent shape, my one vice has always been that I drink...drank beer, a 6 pack every night for the past 20 years, more on weekends. i started P90X on oct. 13th, I haven't had anything to drink since oct. 19th, i think its cured me!!

I am in the same boat as you. Its hard at first to go out with friends and not drink escpecially when its being offered but alcohol is one of the worst enemies. Screws up your metabolism for awhile.

Bayliner:
Most people here don't have the balls or the want to talk about this elephant in the room. Congrats to you.

Now the hard part will be staying in your new program.
I've thought about starting a thread called P90XAA,...... but that would mean I'd have stopped drinking myself..... heh heh.
So for right now, you have the wheel. I know you've probably got extra time for your workouts and can jump in easier than when you've got a screaming hang over. Good for you. Now go kick some ass.

Congratulations on 3 weeks, Bayliner!

I have a little over one month now. I had quit for 6 months, and then spontaneously started drinking again! It was an unhappy 3 weeks...no major bender, mind you, just started drinking again. I'm telling you, not having any alcohol in my system for 6 months was long enough for me to be able to tell a real difference in my body when I did start drinking again. I did not like the way I felt anymore! I'm off the stuff for good!

Replacing any compulsive behavior with exercise is not a bad idea! Exercise brings out the natural endorphins!

Eating clean and getting in shape feels so much better than alcohol, drugs or junk food!

Keep up the good work!
