Unless specifically directed by your OBGYN, it's best to skip all supplements when breastfeeding.

I breastfed for 4 months while on Shakeology as my family doc had approved it. I had been so excited to start drinking it that I began as soon as I delivered. However, as time passed my daughter (then 4 months) became INCREDIBLY COLICKY and irritable and long story short we took her to the hospital (after a regular doctor visit...not an ER visit!) for an ultrasound. She was SOOOO gassy they couldn't see anything so we ended up having her drink barium and they did a flora (sp?) X ray. (They were looking for pyloric stenosis, which they ruled out! Phew!) They DID tell me that her large and small intestines were completely FULL of GAS and that was why she was so uncomfortable. I immediately stopped Shakeology, and in a period of about 2 weeks my baby was all better.

I have finished breastfeeding her now and happily have started back on Shakeology again! So, my advice is to just wait until your season of nursing is over and then have at it! It's GREAT STUFF!!!

Well I have been taking shakeology nearly ever day for the past month... I am exclusively breastfeeding my now 5 month old. Although she does not seem to have any increased gas ( any more than when I would have a fresh spinach salad or broccoli etc.) She did have a bit of increased diaper rash (I had mixed a few shakes with froz strawberries (oops- that is an allergy no no) but recently her dipe rash has cleared up and we have no more "extreme" gas... and we have been enjoying shakeology chocolate for 6 weeks now. Does greenberry have more or less of some ingredients that would change our "gas" levels? I thought both "blends" were equally beneficial!?
ANYONE ELSE HAVE NURSING/ SHAKEOLOGY EXPERIENCE!??!

Concentrated Whey Protein or Casein Protein can cause a reaction in even the slightest dairy intolerant baby. So you made the right decision. I am still breasfeeding so have not tried Shakeology yet, but will when I stop.

i exclusively nursed my baby for 10 months, and drank shakeology from the time she was 2 months old. I never had any issues with it, regarding her digestion, or anything. I did just read, however, that it is NOT recommended while you are pregant, as the amount of stuff in it could be too much for a fetus to handle. in regards to breastfeeding, though, we had no problems. it is great stuff!!!

My baby cannot handle dairy so I took the ingredient list for the vegan Shakeology to my pediatrician and he approved it for me to take while breastfeeding.

However, shortly after starting to drink Shakeology by daughter broke out in a rash/eczema on her legs that continued to get worse despite some steriod creams from the doctor. I quit drinking the Shakeology and within about a week the eczema was completely gone. I waited about 3 weeks after getting the eczema cleared up before I tried Shakeology again. Within 3 days of starting the Shakeology again the eczema starting coming back. My daughter must have an allergy to one of the ingredients.

It is too bad since I felt so much better when drinking it and my immune system seemed to function better. I would wait until you are done nursing to drink Shakeology.
