Tony is trying to KILL ME!!!
11/11/09 5:51 AM
Hi p90xer's!

So I'm on day 16 and I swear Tony is trying to kill me!! In the beginning my body was so sore and I couldn't even turn my neck. But I think I'm loosening up now. So I have a few questions for anyone...

I've been reading a lot of stories how people have lost weight early in the program. How is everyone doing it? So far I haven't lost a lb. My diet has been mostly protein shakes, protein bars, and high fiber foods. I would love to follow the meal plan but don't have time to cook, nor am I a very good one. I'd like to lose at the very least 10 lbs. Any tips?

Right now I'm doing the "Lean" version. Does anyone recommend doing other activities along with p90x? I thought about running/walking but wasn't sure if that would screw up the program. Or... maybe replacing the yoga X with cardio X. Yoga is fine but I just don't seem to get much out of it. My mid section is kinda too wide to do any of those moves! emoticon

Also, sometimes I just don't have the energy to "bring it" cuz I took out so many carbs from my diet. emoticon

Please give me some encouragement! emoticon

HAHAHA...("Tony is trying to KILL ME")...I remember saying that alot, as I crawled from the floor to the couch to grab the remote and hit "pause".

Since you are a "male", and only need to remove 10 lbs...I would suggest you follow the "classic" program of P90x. Muscle burns fat, and it will sculpt you.

You really have to try to get that nutrition under control. Its 60-70% of your results. At least follow the 30 day blocks of carbs/protein/fat ratios. You can track this at one of those free online sites (ex: myfitnesspal.com).

Day 16 is pretty early to see major results...everyone is different. Some get early results, but MOST get their results in the last 30 days. This is how the program was designed. So be patient, eat clean, fuel that body every 2-3 hours, do the correct ratios, and BRING IT during those workouts.

Thx Karen emoticon

Yeah.. trying to keep up with Tony is murder! lol. And he's like a decade older! not fair!

I guess I'm just impatient. Well, 10 lbs would be a good start but my goal is 25-30 lbs. My plan was to start with the "lean", then "classic", then "doubles". You are right.. the nutrition part is vital. Sometimes I think I was eating better before I started the program tho. Been trying to eat every 3 hrs or so but it's hard if you are "on the go". So I think my metabolism and blood sugar has gotten weird. Btw, does anyone know the difference between the recovery drink, muscle drink, and whey protein? Don't they all do the same thing?

You will probably hear this from others as well but don't focus on the weight as much. Muscle weighs more, you'll replace fat with muscle etc. etc.

Not one pair of pants in my closet fits right any more, that's how I know it's working. I'm mid way through week 7 and I've lost around 10 lbs. but I can see and feel the loss in my clothes. Not so much on the scale.

And yes, Tony is trying to kill you. emoticon

With me anytime I start working out again after some time off, I gain weight (2-3 lbs)before I start losing it. Keep working and it'll come down.

LOL...this is what I thought the first time I did the plyometrics DVD. What's awesome about the first week, is you are soooo sore and in places you never really knew you had muscles (or at least never felt them b/c you never really used them). Then after the first week, you're not really sore as much, but you still know you're working those muscles!! I'm doing the classic program and I haven't lost any weight either, but I've def lost body fat and built some muscle. My clothes are not as tight on me. I wouldn't worry about weight as much, b/c muscle does weight more then fat, so while you are losing fat, you are gaining muscle. I wouldn't recommend not doing Yoga. I think the program is designed a specific way andby skipping Yoga, you may be affecting the results. Also, Tony says Yoga is extremely important for balance and flexibility, which are the foundations of working out. Also, running is great. I love to run, especially after doing Yoga because I'm stretched so well!!Good luck!

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment too. I'm doing P-90 and I swear Tony is trying to kill me too, but I just keep getting up every morning and pushing play! Go figure! LOL!

I actually gained a pound in my first 10-12 days of doing P-90 but I was told not to worry about it and that it's probably muscle gain. 20 days into the program I am definately starting to see some muscle definition in my upper arms, but it's still covered with a layer of fat. I'm at a loss as to what I should be eating too. I was trying to follow the diet that came with the program but I was hungry all the time. Nothing satisfied me, so I upped my calorie intake a bit. I guess I just need to keep working at it to find my "happy medium."

Hang in there! Sounds like you're as impatient as I am, but one of my buddies here reminded me that it took years for me to get this out of shape and to gain all this weight, so I shouldn't expect it to fall off in just a matter of days. emoticon She was absolutely right. I guess the secret to this is patience and keeping it in perspective.

That's true. You could lose 20 lbs and still look horribly in the mirror. And muscle does weigh more. But I wanna be pretty lean. Kinda like "boxer" type. When I gain weight it always goes to my belly and face. So, I wanna lose the baby fat. emoticon

Well, I didn't skip or replace Yoga today. My muscles weren't sore so I was able to twist and turn. I still don't feel I accomplish much tho. I think you really have to slim down first in order to do those moves... at least decently? I kinda wish Plyo was in the "Lean" version. Looks like you really get a work out! I guess after I do the "Lean" I will eventually get to it doing the "classic".

Yes.. I'm really impatient. haha. Well, can't rush perfection huh? Sound like your doing ok... I guess we all struggle in the beginning. I'm gonna have to step up on the diet tho. I don't think I'm eating enough and eating often. And yes.. me too. I'm usually hungry cuz I don't eat enough thinking I'm gonna eat again soon. However, gets delayed so I'm starving.

So last night sorta fell off the wagon. It's was my Gf and I 3 month anniversary so went fine dining. Had some wine etc. Well, guess that's gonna happen time to time. I've been pretty dedicated since day one but it's so tough! Today I had yoga so I wasn't dying. lol. Went for a walk later to even it out. Especially when you don't see much results in the beginning! Got Core tomorrow, one of my favorites. Need to bring it!

I start week 5 tomorrow with core and I'm excited! Week 4 was a recovery phrase and I missed lifting those dumbells! I wanna get down and dirty again! At the end of the week I always weigh myself and yeah.. still no weight coming off. I might have even gained? But I do feel firmer and think I look somewhat better in the mirror. Pleased with legs, arms and shoulders are looking but that darn gut is still there. Although its a lot tighter. Time to Bring It cuz I'm taking my 30 day photos tues!

My goodness. I'm glad Thanksgiving has passed. I did feast on some turkey, ham, pie, potatoes and all the good stuff. But I don't think I over did it. I was eager to get back into working out to work off that goo! After taking my day 30 pics I was little dissapointed. I thought I would look leaner but nah... at glance still looked the same. Everything else seems to be looking good except for my waist. Those love handles are so hard to get rid of! Think I have to lose like 40 lbs. for them to go away. Think I'm also gonna have to back off on the legs. I like the firmness but they seem to be getting little big. And I have short legs so maybe not a good thing. I'm gonna try and work harder so I see better results come day 60. But I really have to work on my diet. Probably why no weight loss.

Yesterday was my weekly weigh in and to my surprise I lost 1.5 lbs. I know it doesn't sound much but I've been weighing myself for the past 8 weeks every Sunday at the same time and my weight has not budeged. This was the lowest ever recorded since I started p90x. My BMI was the lowest also. It was such good news because I really felt this was getting to be a waste of time. So, I'm gonna try harder and see what happens in the next two weeks. My Day 60 pics need to be taken on Christmas Day.

Post your diet.
What did you weigh at the start?

If you've lost 0 its because of your diet.

WHOO HOOO!!! So I finally finished my first round of p90x!!! emoticon It was tough! Especially since I started at the worst time and had to fight off Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's! I might not be the best inspiration. As you can see from my photos I didn't get ripped or muscular. However, I just wanted to get rid of belly fat and love handles. Which is why I started with the "Lean" version. I do think I accomplished a lot in past 3 months. My stamina has increased tremendously. I'm gonna take a few days off to rest and begin round 2 with the "Classic" in FEB 2010. I want to continue to lose more weight so that my muscles will start to show again. Anyway, thanks for everyone who read my posts and gave me encouragement!!!! You are the best!!! emoticon

Nice one mate. Pretty easy to see how much you have trimmed down. Now build on your first effort and power through round 2.
