Over Training?
Over Training?
basketball over training muscle fatigue
11/19/09 8:23 AM
Hi all. I live a very active lifestyle. I played college basektball a few years back so I've always been active and "fit". I'm currently in my 4th week of my first time with p90x and so far I love it! My only concern is that I might be overdoing it a little. I follow the workouts exactly as they are laid out for me but I also play basketball 3 times a week. I have noticed that my muscles are always fatigued (no lift on my jump shot, tired heavy legs) I'm curious to know if there will be a time where I will feel "good" (strong and full of energy) or will I always be recovering? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It's a tough 90 days. We really make a point of telling people they should seriously consider putting other activities on hold for precisely this reason.

But before you completely chuck basketball, you might want to have a look at your diet. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? What level and phase are you at? A bump up in carbs or calories might solve your problem.

I agree with the Fitness staff. It is definitely a rigorous program and will take some time to get used to it. I also believe that your body is going to crave more calories as fuel to keep up with your workouts.

Thanks for your help everyone.
Odds are I'm not going to stop playing ball. I'd much rather ditch Kenpo X, but it's not really my nature not to follow the program as described.
I'm doing my best to consume more calories than suggested in the nutritional plan. So far (started week 5 today!) it hasn't been that difficult. I guess I'm just not used to playing with heavy legs.
I'm 6'1, 173 (I've gained 5lbs already so I must not be doing that bad ;)
