Just started P90X, I can't finish the yoga block~ my body is dust!! :(
I'm in fairly good shape, I run half marathons currently, I used to be a kickboxing trainer, and loved to lift weights, but after two kids, I have lost alot of muscle and gained about 17 extra pounds I need to drop. I just started P90x and I'm on day 4, I just did 30 minutes of the yoga workout and had to stop, my body is shaking! I was able to finish days 1-3, but I feel like a failure emoticon What should I do? Should I do two days of yoga to finish it or move on to the next workout? Does everyone just finish every workout?? Please help!

Everyone, and i empahsis EVERYONE has trouble with yoga X their first time, for someone who has never done yoga it is extremely difficult. You aren't a failure, if you can't get through it no big, keep trying, you got 11 more weeks full of yoga packed fun. But if you do give out after 30 mins try skipping ahead to the 40 minute mark, this is where the balance postures begin, which lead to stretches, yoga belly X, then more stretches, so basically it gets easier after the first 50 minutes.

Hi,

As long as you are pushing yourself as hard as you can, there is no problem.

I am five weeks in and still can't get through Plyo without a few pauses. And, there are plenty of yoga moves that I can't do properly, but it is getting better by the week. Yoga is tough, especially if you haven't done it before.

Hang in there, and at the end you will be surprised by what you found dificult at the start.

Just keep at it and be content where you are at in yoga. Yoga is much harder than most people assume at first(as you now see) When I started years ago, I couldn't come anywhere near touching my toes, but alone any of the other poses. Now years later, I am a pretzel, but that is with years of practing, in my case daily.

Yoga is not one you want to push your limits. Do your best, be content and over time you will see improvement. You may even find yourself liking it!

Thank you so much guys~ I have done yoga before, but not since my second kid (who just turned one) my core is so weak! I just did legs/back and ab ripper (day 5) and I was ok. This is definitely the hardest yoga I've ever done emoticon But i'm keeping at it, and feeling better everyday~ thanks again for the encouragement emoticon

Do what you can. As mentioned, the really intense part ends with 42 minutes to go. Take the break at the 1 hr mark, and jump back in to do what you can.

In the last 42 minutes, beware of some of the more difficult poses (crane, plow, etc). These will come with time. Don't skip Yoga belly 7. Its a killer but good for ya.

Thanks for the thoughts in this. I had been stopping around 48 minutes cause the advanced moves were kicking this putty shaking sweat bucket. I will skip forward tomorrow to some of the other moves to see what I can accomplish.

oh yeah that yoga is no joke lol.. i can do the plyometrics pretty well now so i know the workout is going well. That being said yoga is evil. So i did some research and even though it kicks my butt i see how it has helped me with flexibility that i have been neglecting too long ya know. i do pause it and shake it out even yell at my TV but its getting easier.

The first week has everybody questioning their fitness level...... "I can't be this outta shape?..... why the hell am I so sore?"

Don't worry about it. Play thru it.

You are NOT a FAILURE.
You know when you're a failure? When you don't show up and can.

You've showed up. That is success. Make that your new mindset.

Don't Worry. I just started last week & even though I have been doing Yoga for years the Yoga X workout was tough. My wife is not as experienced in yoga as me but she is a cycling instructor & she struggled through it.
