I'm new to beachbody.com and Insanity. Question about diet...
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right spot. I just received the insanity workout videos from UPS.

I understand the importance of eating 5 times per day. My dilemma is that I have no cooking utensils at home. I just moved into this small town. I don't plan on staying here long and don't want to purchase a bunch of cookware that I'll need to haul off with me. After plugging in the formula found in the Elite Fitness book, I'm supposed to be eating about 600 calories a meal.

My diet has been basically microwave diet food like weight watcher, healthy choice etc. These meals are usually 300 to 500 calories a pop. The boxes on most meals show good portions of carbs, protein, etc.

So I don't know who will be reading this, but anyone with experience: Are these microwavable meals suitable to keep up with the Insanity videos?

I appreciate anyone's time.

No.

A healthy diet is a lot more than just the number of calories you take. It's about the quality of the food, the carb/protein/fat ratio, the timing of consumption, the glycemic value, the amount of unnatural preservatives and chemicals, etc etc etc. You can't control any of those things with cheap, pre-packaged meals.

If you're too worried about the amount of work it will take to haul an extra box of utensils when you move, then you won't last two days on Insanity. I'm not trying to be rude, but it takes a certain mind set and attitude to get through this program and it doesn't seem like you have them. You haven't even staretd and are already looking for a way to compromise a major component of the program - diet - to save a miniscule amount of work in the future on something that's not even related to exercise.

Again, not picking on you. I'm just going for a friendly reality check here. Spend $30 at Walmart on a cheap pan, couple of knives and a spatula (that's probably all I use) and throw them away if you want when you're ready to move. It's not like you'll be doing some gourmet cooking on this program.

I'm prone to agree. It's a small investment that will reap big rewards.

Don't throw them away, though -- give them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army!

thanks for the feedback javis and bbadvicestaff. I've gone and bought the utensils.

Great! You can never have too many kitchen utensils. That's my motto.
