Beachbody Insanity Custom Workout Chart - Version 1.0
insanity workout chart calendar
11/28/09 6:39 AM
Looking for an easy (8 1/2" x 11") Insanity workout chart? I've got one for you that even includes the Fit Tests. I prefer to use this over the official fold out chart for two reasons: (1) I want to preserve the original one shipped by Beachbody, and (2) this chart is a bit more compact when I'm on the road.

This chart works for both the Basic and Deluxe Insanity packages.

Enjoy!
Martin

I'm really glad you like it.

Let me know if you need improvements on it. I played with it a long time before I was happy with how it printed on my photo printer.

Also, thanks for the YouTube post on the other guy's hybrid schedule. It was interesting but doubled-down a bit much for my liking. ...hey its a subjective thing right?

If you liked that chart, you may also like this new hybrid Insanity/P90X one I plan on using mid-January. I'm in the middle of my Insanity program so this chart will need to wait until January 10th. I can tell you right now that I'm dying to switch to this hybrid because Insanity is costing me bicep/tricep size. Not good. But switching to a hybrid should be perfect timing for Arizona spring/summer pool time.

Sure. Let me know what you need. If it is something simple and would benefit everyone, I'll make the change in a snap.

I went ahead and created my own in Excel. It just seemed easier than giving you lots of changes. In short, my hybrid is more cardio focused with weekly yoga and rest.

I'll post it on its own for others to use. Thanks for chart though!

Nice.
You have a typo where it says "Month 1" twice. It should say "Month 2" a bit further down. Good chart. So looks like your varient is Cardio focused whereas mine is a bit more P90X focused. You also don't have Fit Test indicators. Are you going to skip those?

All good stuff.

I sure appreciate your work.

Because I'm 67 years old, I can't do what the schedule says. I can only do part of each workout each day. So the notes on the pre-made schedule are hard to keep well: how many minutes, etc. Plus, I do each workout, except recovery, for 2 days in a row, so I get more of it.

So your worksheet is perfect for me, and I'm adapting it as I go.

Thanks.

Thanks, Martin!

This is the first hybrid P90X and Insanity that I've seen. I'm finishing Insanity January 10th, too. I've never done P90X before, so do you think that I should do a round of this before a hybrid? Or can I go directly into the hybrid?

Lastly, your hybrid doesn't appear to have a rest day. Was there a reason why you excluded this?

Thank you!
Kim

Glad you like the chart. Insanity is extremely challenging. At your age, or even at mine of 41, I find it very difficult without adequate time for my body to warm up. I rarely attempt it in the early AM to save my knees wear and tear. It seems like around 10AM is perfect for me.

Let me know if you need help or modifications to the chart.

Thats right, regarding no rest day; there simply was no way to squeeze both routines together without sacrificing muscle tone. I HIGHLY recommend you do classic P90X before doing the hybrid. You'll miss out on a lot fun and Tony humor if you try to rush it.

In the past I've done both P90X Classic and P90X Doubles. Everyone is different but I found Doubles to not be a good fit for me. The muscle repair time is not there. I 'think' it WILL work in the case of an Insanity P90X hybrid but the jury is still out.

I think I'll come back to all of these posts around June 1st, and give some conclusive results on all of the charts ...and perhaps come up with another. In the meantime, enjoy!

Sorry, I missed this. Thanks for the typo catch. Yes, my hybrid routine is cardio-focused. I think the Insanity workouts are superior, albeit they neglect the upper body. So I've kept the P90X Back&Bicep and Shoulders&Arms routines. I eliminated the Legs&Back from the rotation because Insanity rocks the legs pretty good (meaning all you forego is the pullups from Legs&Back).

Also, I'm skipping the Fit Tests. I found them self-serving and kind of distracting. I mean how many more power knees or globe jumps can I possibly do in a minute?? I just don't get too hung up on those numbers. I tend to judge myself more on my pant size and how I look in the mirror. But that's just me . . .

I'm starting it up on January 4, and I'll let you know how it goes.

P.S. I recommend that kimberlyrx do a complete P90X first too. It's a rite of passage.
P.S.S. I'm 40 in 7 days. I love it when 40+ year olds are rocking these routines!

Hey Sam,

It's January 4th. As they say, "how goes it?". Hopefully things are off to a good start for you. I'm soooo looking forward to finishing Insanity and returning back to the comforting embrace of P90X. Mommy!

Anyways, I ran a 6 mile run with sub 8 minute miles last Saturday and I have been fighting a nasty blister on my pinky toe from wearing cheap socks. Asside from that, I'm making my way thru the Insanity program on pure OCD energy. I have not conquered Insanity. Rather, Insanity is allowing me to grace by. I have shaved ~30 seconds off my miles but aside from increased cardio capacity, I prefer P90X. That's not to say anything negative about Insanity. Rather, there are numerous Beachbody programs so that we all can find the 'right fit'.

Enjoy!

DK,

It's January 4 and I've started a 60-day Insanity/P90X hybrid. I'm also going to run a few races this year, so I'm including a weekly 10K into the routine.

The revised hybrid routine is attached (for anyone that cares).

P.S. Congrats on your sub 8:00 miles! Good stuff. Keep working that number downward.
P.S.S. I turned 40 on December 21 and the very next day picked out my hardest routine just to prove that age don't mean a thing. (It was Max Interval Circuit, and I hit it hard!)

Keep up the good work!

Sam

Still attacking Insanity. Oh My God. This one is done and I'm happy to say I did well. I even recorded it and hope to post it on YouTube for the more discerning eye to critique and rip apart my form.

Yet one more "Fit Test" is behind me. I'm spent. I have no fuel left in the tank. As always, my arms, shoulders, and legs are all fatigued. I was pumped going into this "Fit Test" for two reasons: I felt 100% and I knew I would be recording my results for peer scrutinzation. Bring It!

So I have only one more test to go in 14 days. I only decline in one area while gaining in a few others. Tania only has me beat in one area. I'll be ready for her next time around. Look out.

5th Fit Test (Insanity Day 50)
1. Switch Kicks: 157 (+1)
2. Power Jacks: 73 (+1)
3. Power Knees: 132 (-8)
4. Power Jumps: 80 (+8)
5. Globe Jumps: 12 (0)
6. Suicide Jumps: 22 (0) (Tania has me beat by one point - urgh)
7. Push-Up Jacks: 42 (+2)
8. Low Plank Oblique: 100 (+10)

OK. It's not glamorous but here is my video recording of me doing my Insanity Fit Test #4 (Day 50). Yes, I look like pretty silly but I don't have a video production team cutting videos for me. Here is the point:
1. My form is pretty good
2. I'm barefoot (you may not want to be as bold)
3. The numbers I post are very high, as compared to the participants in the video

I'm hoping you all can watch the video at some point if you are considering starting the Beachbody Insanity program. This is not the P90X Fit Test.

Keep me accountable. If you think my form is bad, let me know.
Keep you accountable. I want to know your numbers when you do your Fit Test. Not to compare against mine (maybe a litte), more to make sure you are staying on track with your program and progressing.
