Started to Cry....1st Day of TMT

Ok, so I have to say, I am discouraged. This year I have lost 99lbs as of today. (Dec 27, 09) I have been working out daily, treadmill, water aerobics, some weights (not much) bellydancing, etc.

So when I decided to get the 10 Min Trainer I just knew I would struggle but not as bad as when I was 280! WRONG. I could barely make it through the lower body and I had to stop the ab workout because I am just not strong enough. Even the modifications were too hard. Plank...Are you Kidding????? I am sad...and I even started crying. (Typical girl, I know)

Can someone please tell me how on earth I will be able to make it through the 30 days if I can't even get through some of the 10 minute segments.

I am not trying to be a downer but I am really upset, and the way I feel right now....I just want to pack it up, return it and just get back on my treadmill, but I want to be toned!emoticon

Dont give up yet.
Ive been exercising for quite some time and I have to pause and march in place during the cardio segment.
Just keep on trying and dont give up!
It took me 3 years to be able to do an actual lunge.I just kept trying. And I did`nt think I could ever do pushups.I have to do most of them on my knees but I still try to do a couple on my toes.
I work a lot of hours(7 days a week for the last 3 months so I needed something I could follow that did`nt take too long.
I love this program and Im just going to keep pushing play. You will get better at it.Atheletes are made, they are`nt born that way.
By the way,Im 50 years old and I can do more now than I could in my 20`s thanks to the beachbody programs.

Laura, TMT is one of the harder workouts. I still have trouble doing them and I started in May. But there is an up side. I had trouble when I started and wanted to lose weight slowly and get back into shape. I am getting stronger and have noticed it on a lot of my movesemoticon I have now lost 21 inches and 11 pounds. After my 1 year old had surgery at the end of July, I stopped exercising (not because I wanted to, I was just to exhausted to get it done) I didn't start back until Sept. and now I am trying to keep up my good work. I love the TMT exercisesemoticon They push me. The challange me. I hope that they will do the same for youemoticon Stay encouraged girl. You can do it and it will comeemoticon It does take time, you are pushing your body like you never have and it is different. You are shaking it up girl. It will come and it will get easieremoticon Keep up the good workemoticon
God bless,
Melissa

First of Cogratulations on your weight loss 99lbs is alot to be proud of , believe it or not the fact you are having trouble doing the TMT is sort of a good thing , it means you are working muscles you were not before , first off do not tie yourself to the door ,
try one push-up on your toes then go to your knees and slowly try more on your toes , if the bands sre to much for you dont use them and go through the motions and contract and flex your muscles or pick up some 2 1/2 lb hand weights the effort and form is the most important thing. I would be willing to bet the first time you got on the tread mill it was killer now it is nothing the other thing are you getting enough lean protien in your diet
t propaly build muscle ?.............well I hope this helps any other questions contact me
or your Coach or just post here again

Laura-
TMT infomercials make the product look easy. They are wrong. I purchased the product to fit into my already fit lifestyle of spinning 4 days/wk, swimming 3miles/wk and hiking. I popped in those dvds thinking that this will be an additional workout, and boy was I wrong. I first watched the workouts to get the moves down in my brain. When I did the workouts, I started slowly, not doing as many reps as shown. I wanted to get the form right and I did not want to get hurt, but I was huffing and puffing all along. Tony says, "Push pause if you have to, but keep moving." Now, on to the ab workout. Yikes, I can't do all of the move to this day. I have to modify the moves. I have rug burns on my elbows because I can't keep stay in plank and do all of the moves. I also own P90X and the ab workout is not as hard on that program as it is on TMT. TOny packs a punch with that one, so don't feel bad about not getting through it. WHen I first met Melissa (see above) she had a hard time at first. Now, she is a workout animal. The both of us are on Working Women site. That site welcomes all people regardless of sex, married, not married, with children or not. Right now, it is all women of various ages, but with many things in common. There are two coaches on the site, Coach Lizzy (mine) and Coach Suzie (Lizzy BFF). We keep each other highly motivated. Please stop by. The more the merrier.
Keep pushing play (pp) and you will see results each week. You will get stronger and feel better. Don't worry about not being able to do all of the exercises right now, it will come....well I still can't do all of the ab workout, but I am still trying.

Be Strong, Happy and Healthy!

Wow, I thought i was the only one who struggled with TMT. Today was my 1st day and i was worn out trying to keep up.emoticon I just completed 90 days with P90X and thought this was going to be nothing in comparison, boy, was i wrong and totally unprepared for what i was getting into.I plan to take it like i did in the beginning of P90X, slowly and work my way up to keeping up with Tony.Anyone have any other suggestions that i can use to help me thru the program? I am NOT about to quit!I have too many people looking on to see how successful this program is and I believe in it.Laura, Don't give up, you have done soo very well.Keep posting your progress, perhaps we can encourage one another

Take it one step at a time and try to push yourself a little each time. If you can do 1 push up or plank move then drop down. Do it. Next time, do 2. Always try to push one step at a time. If you are sore do a milder version of the move. I have used the bands since I bought it, but I enjoy them to help me balance on some of the kicking moves. I just use the bands that have the less resistance. You will get there, hang in thereemoticon Both of youemoticon

God bless,

Thanks! Today was Day 2, tough but no tears. I am going to have to not use the band, it's a little major or me. I will build up to it and well as the door band.

Thanks so much for the support, it really was uplifting!

Laura and Micoqui,

I am 57 and TMT is what got me started with Beachbody. I needed to lose 60 lbs. Saw the infomercial and thought "I can do that - and it's only 10 minutes!" Like you, I was surprised to find out how difficult those 10 minutes could be! I started at the end of May this year. I did Cardio ONLY for the first 3 weeks or so. I could not keep up with Janie and I was discouraged. But I kept doing it. I didn't do as many reps and I didn't do them as fast as Janie. I just did what I could. I didn't push pause (it never occurred to me!!)

But even though I couldn't keep up, I started noticing differences in my strength and stamina. Before TMT I would huff and puff going up 1 flight of stairs. Now I can sprint up 4 flights and still carry on a conversation. THAT TOLD ME TMT WAS WORKING even if I couldn't keep up! Yes, I was looking to lose 60 lbs, but my main goal was to get HEALTHY. And that is what was happening!!

I think after 3 weeks I added Total Body. Again, couldn't keep up. Push-ups to this day are hard for me, even from the knees. As others have said, I have been able to increase the number I can do from my knees but I do always try a few from the toes to keep pushing myself. But after a few weeks of just those two w/o's I started feeling stronger and noticed more changes in my stamina.

I gave up on the TMT Abs w/o, but I purchased Great Body Guaranteed (more short w/o's, reasonably priced, but the abs one is DOABLE!) But I know if I keep going, sooner or later I will be able go back to TMT abs and get through it easier. (BTW, GBG also has buns, thigh and arm routines that are doable, but believe me, you feel them! And a great stretch routine.)

I got to the point with Cardio that I could keep up with Janie! Really gals, that day will come! emoticon

My story breaks down now because I have not been consistent with my w/o's for the last month. But even so, I am close to 25 lbs lost and about 8 inches.

I have to echo Suzanne's invitation to the Working Moms thread! I am not a mom, and I am the oldest on the thread, but they welcomed me with open arms...and they have been my lifeline for motivation and encouragement!! Not just the coaches (Lizzy and SuzIQ) but everyone on the thread - we keep each other going when we get discouraged. And we have a LOT of fun doing it! emoticon

If you don't join our thread, I would strongly recommend staying in touch with each other AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. Before I joined the thread, I thought I could do this on my own. But I think I would have quit in a short time if I hadn't gotten the support and encouragement from those ladies.

I just purchased TMT Upgrade - can't wait to get it! In the meantime, I am getting back on track with regular w/o's with TMT so I'll be ready for the Upgrade when it arrives!

Best of luck to you both! Keep pushing play and you will get results!
Jineen

WOW I FEEL THE LOVE!!

Girls the main ingredient to being successful is having the support. It doesn't matter where you get it but do get it and if you decide to come visit and stay on "The Working Moms" thread, you will get the support and motivation you are looking for. I call everyone "Hard Working Peeps" there because that's what we do...........work hard at Pushing Play (PP) almost every single day. We also use WOWY and meet each other there so add us as your buddy and we will see each other while working out. Sounds like fun right? Hope to see you soon.

Keep PP and drink lots of water!!!!!!!

TMT is hardcore. I can't do three in a day. Two is really my limit and even then I sometimes can't finish. You have to do what you can and just keep trying. Just because it's 10 minutes, doesn't mean it's easy. It's serious stuff. It works! I can say that I've found the P90X abs workout WAY easier than the TMT Abs workout.

Don't cry, just do the best you can. As you keep pressing play, you'll find that they WILL get easier, you WILL be able to do more of them.

So glad I'm not alone here! All of these posts have helped me not to feel so badly about struggling through my first workout. I am 39 yo and almost 80 lbs overweight and was really having problems with getting motivated to get back to working out. I ordered TMT because of the length of workouts and the cost. A friend of mine has been using the P90 and P90x series with great results so I felt like Tony Horton and Beachbody are "the real deal".

I like the way Tony coaches and the pacing on the TMT ,but I know it will be quite some time before I can get through these w.o without real issues. (Although I did only Cardio today,I took a look at and tried some of the the ab routine ...plank... me?...rofl...are they kidding???)

Until I can reach the level required, I will be taking it slowly, concentrating on form and just doing what I can. I will also be focusing on appreciating my daily acheivements each workout instead of comparing myself and my body to the obviously well -trained experts on the screen.

I'm really happy I read these postings today. Having the support of the website tools, coaches and connecting with others are all things that I believe will only help me in reaching my weightloss and fitness goals. I am determine to get my weight under control. I wish everyone the best along this fitness journey as we go into the new year. Keep up the good work everyone! You can do it!

I am so happy I decided to post my first day frustration here. It has helped me to hear others struggles too as well as all the encouragement!

I am on Day 3. It was only a Yoga day but I've never done Yoga so it was tough. I hope I can be flexible like the people on the DVD someday.

I am use to at least 30 minute workouts, really 60 so I jumped on the treadmill for 35 minutes afterwards.

Feeling stronger and more encouraged, thanks to all of you!

Tomorrow is Day 4 and that means....Cardio - Abs - Yoga.....

Here I come!

Hang in there bluetenni, just do what you can, even if it's not everything in the workout. The hardest thing to do is just to press play. Once the workout is running, you just participate as much as you can. Anything you do will make a big difference. Doing nothing will keep you in the same place you are now.

Hey All,

Congrats on your accomplishments!! I wanted to add a note on the bands... I don't use the bands; I use weights instead. Using bands are a lot harder than weights because of the resistance both ways! Don't feel like you are behind the curve because that is not the case! It's more of a preference thing and what you're comfortable with. The bands are more travel friendly of course, but the weights do not have the positive and negative resistance. When using the bands, ensure that you are using the correct resistance for your level. Anyhow, keep at it and just do your best and the rest will come with time and hard work!

Laura:
Anybody who has lost 99 lbs knows that being discouraged is a momentary thing.
You have proved you have the ability to suck it up and keep going.

From what I've seen of TMT, the reason its successful its its a Tabata style workout.... high intensity with little rest.
This is the same thing Insanity does, but for a longer more intense period of time.
Tabata workouts, although very hard, have proven benefits in the shortest period of time. They are so hard that a lot of people want to cry,..... or hurl.

Keep punching. Strength is an acquired trait.
