The weight that is!!!! Hi Im Megan mother to two wonderful beautiful kids. My youngest just turned 3 months and Im ready to lose the baby weight I gained while pregnant and on bed rest with her! I had an emergency C-section so its going to be even harder but I know with perseverance I can do this!!! Today was my second day of Turbo Jam.. Im stoked to begin this journey as I have always been in great shape and in the past 3 years I have been pregnant over half. My son is two and my daughter is 3 months so they are pretty close in age, Im ready to be a smokin hot mama when my husband comes home from Afghanistan so Im working extra hard.

Anyone else just starting or have stories they would like to share?

Hi armywife,
I too am ready to be a smokin hot mama.
I've been doing a TJ and Power Half Hour hybrid for the past three and a half weeks. I'm trying to lose the last ten pounds of my pregnancy weight plus 10 extra. My daughter is six months old and the last ten pounds have been hanging on since she was two weeks old. I've never been as motivated and dedicated to working out on a regular basis as well as watching what I eat but I'm discovering something terrible...the weight isn't coming off as easily as it used to before becoming pregnant.
I don't know if being in my mid thirties has anything to do with it (I've heard from many friends that there's a metabolism slow down/shift somewhere around 35) or if it's just one of those things that comes along with having a child. I started working out on Jan 11th and I have yet to shed one pound and my pants don't fit any differently. Very frustrating.
My husband has been working out in the mornings with me and that's really helped me drag my butt out of bed in the morning. That whole accountability thing...
I look forward to hearing more about your journey as you get back in shape and wait for your husband to come home (my prayers are with you both) and to hearing from others about their journeys.

Okay, I'm still getting up in the mornings to work out with my hub and I've dropped two pounds!! Woo hoo. There was a time when working out 5-6 days a week and eating well for a month would have garnered a 10 pound weight loss. Those days are gone and I'm okay with that. I'm really going to have to earn my fit bod and I know I'll appreciate and value it that much more.
I came onto the TJ photo gallery thread wanting inspiration and motivation. I also thought that I might muster up the courage to post my own pics. Not ready to do that quite yet though. I'll post when I'm able to look at myself in a bathing suit without shuddering.
I've started wearing the weighted gloves during TJ and thought it was a bit of a joke at first. I thought "this isn't that hard" then five minutes later wondered when my arms would fall off.
Hub and I are upping the intensity of our workouts to get ready to do p90x down the road. We used to go to the gym to do a TJ style workout and we could really go mental in the studio with all the space and freedom to move and jump around like lunatics. We can't do that at home. Small house, creaky hardwood floors and a seven month old sleeping upstairs... it's a perfect storm. We're finishing up the basement and turning one area into a workout space. The ceiling's only 7 feet high and we won't be able to jump very high but at least we'll be able to do the workouts full-out and break a bigger sweat without worrying about the noise we're making.
Anyway, happy fitness to everyone. I hope you're all finding the inspiration you need to make your health a priority.

It's been two months since hub and I began our commitment to working out. I've now lost five pounds and I was able to zip up my favourite jeans this morning. No more hair elastic wrapped around the button. As I began to cheer for the benefit of my 7 1/2 month old as she sat on the bed she started to squeal in delight as well. My little cheerleader.

Still haven't started the p90x. Hub has to have his knee checked out and dealt with before we take on the intensity of the workout but we're still pushing ourselves through TJ and PHH. I have to give the love of my life credit here. He is the most non-morning person I've ever met in my life. It was a small miracle to get him to simply consider getting up in the mornings but since then he's been getting up for 5-6 mornings a week and even though he's pretty much comatose when he comes down the stairs he still has a full out workout. If he can do it then I know that anyone can.

Wherever you are armywife, I hope you're doing well and meeting your goals. In the meantime I'll just keep talking to myself and if anyone is listening... run to your dreams.

It's been 3 1/2 months since I started my new commitment to working out and so far so good... for the most part. My hub has been having serious problems with his knee and is awaiting an MRI. He hasn't been able to join me in my workouts for several weeks now and I've discovered that the "accountability thing" that I touched on a few posts ago plays a huge role in how much I stick to my workouts. I've been getting up a minimum of four times per week which isn't great but better than I've ever done in the past and I think that the fact that I don't have a solid set-out schedule to stick to is part of the reason that sometimes I'm more than willing to hit snooze several times in the morning.

I still intend to do p90x and I'm actually really looking forward to the challenge, to what it will do to my body and the benefits that will come from having a routine to commit to (I'm a routine/schedule kind of girl). I'd love to start sooner rather than later (I'm chomping at the bit right now) but I would really like to do it with my hub so I'll wait a little longer to find out the status of his knee. Thus far I've lost eight pounds and I've decided that once I reach my pre-pregnancy weight (three more pounds to go) I'll post my before and after pics here. When I say "eight pounds" it sounds like a pretty wuss number especially in light of the fact that I've been working out for more than three months but I'm making an effort to not get stuck on the number. I fit into most of my old clothes and even though some of them are tight I still accept this as a huge personal accomplishment. I used to be 40 lbs heavier than I am now and the self-esteem issues I had back then still colour me today. I think I'll always have a fat self-image no matter what I look like or what the scale says. In a way I think this is a good thing since it has helped me to be sensitive to the feelings of others and the struggles that other overweight people have but in many ways I've allowed my poor self image to get in the way of living my life to the fullest. Sadly, I have several regrets about lost opportunities.

So... in my next post I will attach pics (yikes!) and post an update on p90x.

I'll leave you with a quote that has inspired me and I hope it'll do the same for you:
"Never never never give up." Winston Churchill

Well, I said I'd do it so here you go...

I reached my pre-pregnancy weight a few weeks ago but just haven't gotten around to posting these pics until now. I'm still not where I'd like to be but I'm encouraged by the changes and look forward to seeing more changes down the road as I continue making fitness a priority. It's strange to look back and remember a time when in order to lose weight I would only think about going on a restrictive diet and give no thought whatsoever to my activity level which, at times, was non-existent. Being fit and strong is a superior choice to dieting exclusively. I feel so much stronger not just physically but mentally and I have zero desire to go back to my old habits.

I've started P90X since taking this "before" photo and I'm doing the "lean" program. I'm loving the challenge and look forward to what lies ahead.

Happy fitness everyone.

.... I initially posted the wrong "after" pic. The first one was "after tj prior to getting pregnant". Sorry for the confusion. Here are the right ones: post-baby and post-baby after doing turbo jam. Thank you Chalene for helping me sweat off those last, very stubborn 10 pounds!!!
