How long did it take for you to see results with insanity?
Showing 1 - 20 of 22 results.

I am on day 8 of insaity. I'm not seeing much results yet, but I know it takes time. I just have a problem expecting to see results too quickly. I have not moved on the scale and can tell no difference in my clothes. So I know I just need to let it take it's time, but I wanted to ask others: How long did it take for you to see results?

Another issue I wanted to get some feedback on was about soreness. I was sore for the entire first week, but just did a workout yesterday and feel no soreness. I'm sure my body is just getting used to it, but I feel like when I'm working out that hard I should feel like I can't move the next day. And although I always try to keep my core tight like shaun t says I feel hardly any soreness in my abs (sometime just a little). I think it will come when I start to do the ab workout. Should I just try harder with the abs? Anyone else feel like this?
Thanks!

Hey, there...

Congrats for doing Insanity! U R right, 8 days is just too early to start seeing substantial results. Plus, U need to STAY OFF the scale - it measures water weight along with everything else. The best way to measure ur progress is the way ur clothes fit AND the measuring tape.

As for the soreness, ur body is getting used to the movements. That's why U aren't sore anymore - it is nothing to be alarmed about. With the abs..as long as ur engaging ur core, U should be fine.

I have an Insanity support thread, I'm starting my 2nd round today. Here's the link:

Wait and the results will come.

I am about to finish with round #1 of Insanity™ and although I don't "see" the results others do. Many of my co-workers have commented on the difference. My wife is constantly staring and telling me she sees "lines" where there was nothing before Insanity™.

Yesterday I finally compared pictures taken 4 days before I started Insanity™ with some taken on day 30 and the results are there. I can also tell by how my clothes fit. Day 8 is far too early to be looking for 'results'. Most of your 'transformation' will come in month #2; be patient.

As for the soreness...(and these are just my thoughts)…if you’re using proper form and keeping your core engaged you shouldn’t feel much soreness. Are you taking the Results and Recovery drink? I think I took ibuprofen twice my first week on this workout for soreness; I was also taking the Results and Recovery drink. I ran out last week and my body has been a little sore; however not enough to take ibuprofen. I also believe doing the warm-up and stretches correctly helps to minimize the soreness.

Wishing you the best and much success. JPP (Just Push Play)

It took about 2 weeks to see metric results meaning, body fat% and weight. As for physical, I'd say a month. Its usually hard to see physical results when you've been looking at yourself daily. The key is to take a before picture (day 1) and then in a month, take another picture and do some comparisons.

Of course results will vary based on your nutrition plan and consistency. One change you will definitely recognize is your fitness level and that combine with any physical change you see will help motivate you further.

Also as for the soreness and abs...the soreness is normal within the 1st week and by the end of the 2nd week you should be fine as your body would prob have adjusted by then to the workouts. Your abs are definitely getting worked everyday even if you don't feel any soreness. I never felt any major soreness in my abs for the entire program but definitely lost tons of weight in my mid section. The entire program is built to work your core areas and your abs is one of the major points. Just remember to keep your core tight as much as possible as I know its hard especially when your tired. However rest assure your definitely burning calories and working your abs by default.

I'm on round 2 and still seeing changes. Good Luck and hope you get the results you're looking for!!

I am starting week seven tonite. I was kind of disappointed in my results the first month as well. But like P90X, the big results come in the last month. After my first Max week (week six) I "felt" thinner without huge loses on the scale. BUT I was able this weekend to go out and buy smaller jeans! which I guess proves that I have lost body fat without necessarily losing weight ( I have lost two pounds). I know that my cardio fitness is way up and that my legs are much stronger.

So like the other respondents, I would say hang in there, do it according to the schedule, watch your diet, and the results will come. Good luck

Hey there. I started seeing results pretty much insantly weight-wise, but then again I could have been losing water weight. In two weeks I've lost ~4lbs, so that's reasonable weight loss for my exercise exertion. Inches wise I've lost about 0.5" off my waist, so that's a noticable improvement! I'm two weeks in.

For reference I'm 5'4" and started Insanity at ~155lbs. I'm down 4lbs and half an inch on my waist (from 31" to 30.5") in 2 weeks. Not bad!

Keep at it! Never give up!

giovann: This programs do guarantee results, but since body types are so different there is no way a program can guarantee the same results to everyone in the same amount of time, diet and habits also take a toll, plus genetics. We learn as we go, and that the beauty of it, we do get fit, stronger, we do get visible results, but some get them faster than others, that's the real deal.

There are great resources and articles you can find to help you get closer to the goal each day, here's one I share around.

8 Insider Tips to Help You Burn Fat Faster
Whitney Provost

You're ready to get in shape. You've committed to an exercise program and stocked your kitchen with healthy food. Now it's time to see results. Other than working out consistently and sticking to your nutrition plan, what else can you do to increase your chances of success?

While there's no magic fat-loss fairy who'll grant your wishes overnight, there are a few proven techniques you can use to boost your results and lose weight faster. Check 'em out.
Burn more fat during your workouts.
Crank up the intensity early. A study from the College of New Jersey found that people who work out harder during the first half of their workouts and ease up a bit in the second half burn up to 23 percent more fat than people who start out slowly. What does this mean for you? After you warm up (never neglect this or you may end up injured), bump up your workout intensity and give it your all. You don't have to pace yourself so you can make it all the way through; take breaks as necessary later in your workout.
HIIT it hard. By now, you've probably heard that the one of the most effective ways to burn fat is with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). This involves short intervals of maximum intensity cardio, followed by intervals of low intensity cardio or rest. Researchers at Laval University in Quebec have discovered that people who do HIIT can lose 3 times as much fat as those who do steady-state moderate cardio. Try TurboFire® for fun, high-energy HIIT workouts that'll have you dripping with sweat and burning major calories.
Lift heavier weights for fewer reps. Boost your metabolism long after your workout by training with heavy weights. As researchers at the Norwegian University of Sport and Physical Education have learned, the heavier you lift, the greater the rise in your metabolic rate and the longer the boost will last. The result? Increased fat loss. For amazing body-reshaping results, tryChaLEAN Extreme®, P90X®, or RevAbs®.

Special note for women: Don't be afraid to increase the size of your dumbbells! You don't have enough testosterone to bulk up like the Incredible Hulk, and a lean, strong body will help you burn calories around the clock. Plus toned and shapely muscles look beautiful and give your body symmetry. Still not convinced? Read my related Beachbody® newsletter article, "10 Reasons Women Need to Lift Weights."
Lift lighter weights for more reps. Wait . . . what? Didn't I just tell you that you have to lift heavier to burn more fat? It's true that training with heavy weights for fewer reps will burn more calories post-workout and give your physique a much more dramatic transformation. But there's also a benefit to using lighter weights at higher reps. For one, you burn a lot of calories during your workout. And if you're very out of shape or haven't lifted weights in a while, going lighter will help you condition your muscles and joints and help you prevent injuries. Start with programs like Slim in 6®, Power 90®, or Brazil Butt Lift® until you're ready to progress to heavier weights.
Stay in shape. Once you become physically fit, keep it up. The more active you are, the better your body is at burning fat. According to researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, you can avoid regaining belly fat by exercising as few as 80 minutes per week. Keep stoking your fat-burning furnace with regular exercise and good nutrition, and you'll be lean for life.
Let your kitchen help you burn fat.
Get your omega-3s. Fish and fish-oil supplements are helpful fat-burners because of their high levels of omega-3 fats. Two recent studies in Iceland and Australia demonstrated that people who consume fish oil burn more fat than people who don't. Additionally, the Australian study showed that when fish oil is combined with exercise, the results were even better. To promote fat loss, take one or two Core Omega-3™ capsules with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Don't cut calories too quickly. You know that in order to lose weight, you need to eat fewer calories. But dropping them too quickly can cause your metabolism to slow down, because your body thinks it's starving and desperately holds onto fat. A dramatic reduction in calories can also lead to what author Martha Beck calls "famine brain," a condition in which your poor starved brain starts to freak out and all you can think about is food until you go nuts and eat everything in sight. The stress makes you much more likely to binge and end up fatter than ever. So what's the easiest way to cut calories gradually and keep your sanity?

Start by swapping your usual breakfast for Shakeology®. It's only 140 to 150 calories and tastes great, and you can add healthy ingredients like milk or a dab of peanut butter and still keep the total calorie count low. Next, try cutting your total calorie intake by 250 calories per day. Give it a couple of weeks and see if you like the results. If you're losing weight, stick with it, and if not, cut out another 250 calories and reevaluate a couple of weeks later. If you're already doing everything else I've mentioned in this article, you shouldn't have to starve yourself to lose weight.
Drink green tea. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that the catechins—antioxidant flavonoid compounds—found in green tea may stimulate the body's fat-burning activity. You'll get the most benefits from about 4 cups of green tea per day, but if you don't want to drink that much, green tea extract supplements appear to have similar benefits. It's kind of cool to think that you might be able to relax with a cup of green tea and burn fat at the same time!
Give these tips a try, and let us know how they work for you.

I just wanted to pop in and say Hi! I am also on week 2 and can totally relate to the muscle soreness. I could barely walk last week, but this week I'm okay. I don't feel any soreness in my abs either, and I do try to keep them engaged during the workout. I did feel ab soreness after the first ab workout, which I thought was kind of short and somewhat easy (I guess I shouldn't complain cuz I'm sure it'll get harder soon enough). I'm not seeing any results yet, but I'm trying not to weigh myself. If the program makes me feel good and it improves my health, than I'm happy with that. (A size 4 jeans would be nice though too ;) I think I'd see results sooner if I followed a more strict meal plan. Weekends are my weakness.

Everyone here is right. It is a bit too early to tell. If you were to step on the scales, it might show an increased weight, but that is becuase you a building up your muscles. YOu'll likely see some differences after month 1, but month 2 is where you really start to notice the change. Be sure to take your 0, 30, and 60 day front, side, and back shots. You will be able to see more that way than just looking in the mirror. Just keep digging deep. Shaun T will get you in shape with the help of all the support and motiviation here. Keep us updated on your progress. Good luck.

I lost 1 lb at the two week mark. Then 9 more by the end of my recovery week. However, more noticeable were the changes in pictures and in the way my clothes fit. Don't focus on the scale, it is only one indicator of progress. Not even the primary one. Hang in there, dig deeper, and the results will come.

I started Insanity about 3+ weeks ago I believe. It is intense, but my workout is everyday after work except Fridays and if I wake up early enough on Saturdays. I have missed a few days though. But I am tring to keep a good workout schedule. I am trying to disciplin myself on trying to eat right. When the weekend comes I tend to overendulge in food, but I always try to drink water when I do. I myself want results now, but know that they don't happen over night. I have gotten to the point where if I miss a day of working out during the week I get dissapointed in myself, thinking all that hard work im doing isnt going to pay off if I don't keep doing it. It takes a little bit, but we will all get there with which ever work out you do. emoticon

I personally do not weigh myself or take measurements other than the 2 week fit test benchmarks. I know that on day 15 I was already seeing a gap in the waist of my jeans and had already lost about 3/4 inch. I think 30 day progress pics will speak for themselves as well.

Keep in mind that 5 lbs of fat and 5 lbs of muscle are incredibly different in size so just because you don't see changes on the scale doesn't mean you're body isn't changing drastically.

As far as the soreness goes, my first week was by far the worst. Major spot for me was my lower legs below my calves, followed by quads and glutes. I was surprised to get new soreness once I started into month 2, as I figured my body had adapted....I was wrong.

Follow through with your workouts and as you see the results, the motivation to continue will come naturally. Also keep logging in to the message boards....that helps, too.

Good luck!

I saw results after the 30 day mark, however I haven't budged since. I have only lost a half inch on my waist and an inch on my hips.

Hi, I'm actually having similar issues as everyone here. I'm on day 17 of insanity and I'm not seeing much results yet. I have not moved on the scale and can tell no difference in my clothes either. I know it takes time but I figured that I'd be able to see a change after 17 days. How long did it take to see results? I'm also doing P90X, just for the upper body part.

I'm sure my body is getting used to a new routine, but I feel like when you're working out that hard you should be able to see results a bit faster. I always try to keep my core tight but I don't feel any soreness, I've always had problems feeling anything soreness when it comes to my abs no matter what workout I'm doing. Any advice?
Thank much!

I'm starting Day 10 of Insanity today. I haven't lost any weight or drastically changed in body shape, but I notice my muscles, especially my abs are tightening. We all have different genetics, so results will vary, but I think we can all agree how great the program really is! I too have the constant need for instant gratification, but I'm learning to understand my body and my limits, and push them as far as possible. I've read hundreds of testimonials and reviews, and all have seen changes. Month 2 is on a whole other level, so prepare yourslef to be in overdrive. Regardless of how much weight, or body fat you've lost, look at yourself before you started training. Even 10 days in, I feel more energetic, and lighter, and I know after the 60 days that hard work will pay off. I saw a quote yesterday that really put what im doing in perspective, "It takes 4 weeks for you to notice your body changing. 8 weeks for your friends to notice. 12 weeks for the rest of the world. Impress the world...Give it 12 weeks. DON'T QUIT!!!"

Am I gonna see any change one day? Just asking... emoticonemoticonemoticonemoticonemoticonemoticon

The diet is probably the most important part of the workout. That is probably why you are not seeing the results. I saw results in the 3rd week and now I am starting week 7 on Monday, I am down 19 lbs. I have not included inches because I am waiting till I finish the program. Once you follow the diet and eat clean, the results will come. Trust me!!!

I started two weeks ago but I can't do the workouts as scheduled. I do one of the workouts and then the next day I do the recovery workout. I can almost make it through the recovery workout without stopping. The others I go very slowly and miss about half of it huffing and puffing.

I have stopped drinking as much and stick to a very strict diet of 1600 calories, lots and lots of greens and a meal replacement shake from Whole Foods (Garden of Life Raw Meal), egg whites, and just small amounts of beer/scotch when I go out. Daily happy hours are out, no french fries, no doritos, etc.

I started at 196 and weigh 186 today. In two weeks. I think most of it is because of diet but the workouts are getting easier. Starting Insanity program according to the schedule on Monday. Headed to 165 pounds, abs, and some muscle definition.
