I go by the nutritional fact when chosing wat I eat. though, something isn't adding up. if i go by the diet plan... lets say i eat 2 whole weat waffles .. well thats only 32g of carbs, but according to the book that i one serving. if a eat a bagel or muffin they r loaded with 50grams of carbs but it is still one serving. 100 callories = 4 grams of carbs and the same for protien. If i need 900 cal. of protein and thats 234grams then is it ok if i just try to get in the grams or r the calories more important. the book for exmple says 3 oz of chicken is 100 cal and one serving of protein but what is i dont have chicken or anything else in my house that day i can wiegh or is processed or something. can't i just go by the grams and make sure they add up as long as i stay under my 2800-3000 cal diet?

The same food can vary in calories, which is why the portion plan can be a bit challenging at times. Your best bet is to go by the calorie if you read nutrition labels, so eat 200 calories worth of whatever bagel you're eating to get a carb portion.

Unless you know a ton about nutrition, I would just go by grams because you'll miss the balance plugged into the plan. We just don't have you eat carbs, we have a balance of fruits, veggies and good complex carbs. If you can look at our play and know how to emulate that loosely, then go for it. Otherwise, it's not a great idea.
