Month 2, round 2 of p90x sad results
Hello forum, just had a question maybe someone else is experiencing the same problem and found a fix. I'm 23 male, 5"11 and started p90x lean at 190 pounds then moved on to classic, I started month 2 at 157 pounds. Now I'm a lot stronger than I was before, lift a ton more, can actually do pull ups and pushups, can do plyo without any breaks unlike when I started...except...

There is very very little visual results :S like my arms got bigger, when I flex you can see the bicep and triceps, but like my shoulders have 0 definition unless I flex and it's barely there, my stomach shows no abs unless i flex, and even then only like the upper half shows. I know my abs are stronger because I can do full ab ripper X now and core synergistics has become easy.

The way I've been doing the workouts are 8-10 reps in the weight lifting for size/strength, my question is..

1) At 157 pounds, should I note be showing abs at 5"11 height :s when I am fit enough to do plyo x without breaks, cardio X/kenpo X has become a joke.
2) Do I need to go for 12-15 reps maybe?
3) Am I expecting results out of reach for 4 months? The results pictures/videos people have shown were a lot better.

Thanks for any help.

I'm "happy" with the results, just not happy that definition is very low. I plan to move on to doubles after classic fwiw.

Something I've considered is switching to insanity for 2 months to burn off more fat then go back to p90x starting on doubles, what do you think?

First things first, if you want big muscles, you've got to eat like a freakin animal!!!! You're body cannot build muscle mass when you are creating a caloric defecit. Most bodybuilders and the like go through phases where they put on weight in order to increase their muscle mass, then lean out to reveal them. And understand that it is "NEARLY" impossible to put on muscle without some fat, hence the lean out phase.

It sounds to me like you're a hard gainer that was pretty stagnant prior to this. But if you're down to 157 at 5'11" you're on the verge of underweight, and if you're not seeing the definition you want, you need bigger muscles. Here's the super secret formula:

EAT MORE + LIFT HEAVIER = BIGGER MUSCLES

Good luck bro, if it makes you feel better, plenty of people have a similar problem. Search articles on hard gainers nutrition and workout plans.

Yes, diet will be important to you right now. Also, here's a thread I think you'll find interesting.

Stick with 8-10 reps if you're looking to bulk.

Also, keep in mind that abs are incredibly hard to develop and maintain on the level you're looking for. Those guys in the photo shoots pump up before stepping in front of the camera, so give your body a little credit for lookin' good already.
