Hi guys,

As you know, i took the test already and i am going to start for real on Monday so i stay with the correct schedule. however i did the first workout tonight just to check it out. I did my regular P90x workout this morning, so i was pretty toast, but anyway Insanity is awesome, can you say S-W-E-A-T? in any case, i recommend that you are pretty fit before you try it cuz it is no joke. Anyway, i loved it and look forward to doing it with you! Cheers

YES FIT TEST on Monday...it is your first day of the Insanity® Program. I know some people do their Fit Test a few days before they start the program; however it is set-up so that your first day is actually the Fit Test.

FYI - my first round I did not follow the diet - wasn't in it to lose weight. However I still lost some lbs and have lost a few more here in my 2nd round.

Will post tips and story.

Wishing Everyone Much Success. JPP (Just Push Play).

A FEW TIPS FOR YOUR INSANITY® JOURNEY

OKAY...I completed one round (63 days) of Insanity on 04-Feb-10 and started another round on Monday (15-Feb).

I had posted on for others on a separate message thread and have copied and pasted them here for you.

Okay...here are a few tips which I hope will be helpful.

#1...Review the Dig Deeper DVD, good tips on proper form of exercises.
#2...Invest in a good pair of shoes - cross trainers not running shoes…running shoes are made for moving forward; not jumping and lateral movements (there are a lot of these movements in the Insanity® program)..
#3...Invest in a good workout mat...I have an interlocking mat.
#4...Listen to Shaun T...follow his instructions.
#5...Maintain proper form...keep your core engaged...soft knees.
#6...Stay hydrated...if you need to take breaks.
#7...Drink your Results & Recovery drink...if you purchased it.
#8...If you're going to follow the diet plan...follow the diet plan...you'll be burning off plenty of calories.
#9...The first 2 weeks are tough...however if you're doing the exercises correctly you'll find your 'groove' around week
#10...be prepared for month #2 (it kicks butt...like month #1 it'll take awhile to get used to the 'new' exercises.

......After taking your initial measurements...Stay off the scale...go by how you're feeling (energy wise) and how your clothes are fitting. Remember your goal (you should have one). I did the entire 60 day program...and only lost a little over 4 lbs; however I lost over 8 eights (3 around my waist, 2.5 around my hips, 2.25 around my chest). Although people were telling me that I looked like I was losing weight the truth is I was losing inches. I didn't realize the change until around weeks #7 & #8 when I compared my day 1 pics against my day 30 pics...around this same time my clothes started to fit real loose.

A few more tips...if possible have someone (spouse, roommate, friend) count your reps for you when doing your Fit Test. This will take some of the pressure off of you to count while trying to exercise. Also if possible record your Fit Test; make sure you have enough battery power and memory on your camera. Recording your Fit Test or workout will help you see where your form might need correcting.

Remember when counting the reps for your Fit Test - 1 Switch Kick is actually 2 kicks (one right & one left), 1 Globe Jump is actually 4 jumps (to the right, backwards, to the left, and then forward), Push-up Jack (Down / Up = 1 PJ), Low Plank Oblique, some count each leg as one while others count a right/left movement as one LPO. When I do a Fit Test my wife counts my reps for me and on the LPO she uses the 2 movement count, in other words one right LPO and one left LPO = 1 LPO.

For those of us who drink coffee, mountain dew, soda, etc - remember caffeine will dehydrate you, therefore you'll have to up the amount of water you drink. I have gone from 3 - 4 large cups of coffee to just one cup in the morning, (which I rarely finish). I have found that since starting the Insanity® program my energy has increased and I don't "need" the extra coffee in the afternoon.

If possible invite others on here to be you buddy and workout with them in the WOWY® SuperGym. This will help with accountability and support. Please note that I have scheduled my workouts for 0500, which I realize is early; however feel free to invite me to your workout, I will join you if I happened to have missed my workout or want to add in another workout.

Remember this is not a sprint; it's a marathon...be patient...the results will be worth it.

Wishing you much success. JPP (Just Push Play).

Feel free to contact me if I can offer any more assistance I will be glad to help.

MY INSANITY® STORY

......(which I have copied and pasted from another thread). I completed my first round of Insanity® on 04-Feb (all 60 - 63 days).

My thoughts on weight loss, while doing Insanity®, is based first on my personal experience, having completed the program on 04-Feb, and on the advice of others who have also completed the program. For me it comes down to...“STAY OFF THE SCALE” (It is your enemy). I realize that is a lot easier to say, than do. My first month of Insanity I was on the scale once or twice a week...wasn’t losing anything and I wasn’t seeing any results. My wife would stare at me and I would ask, “What?” She would respond, “I’m starting to see lines.” I would look in the mirror and see NOTHING. At the 30 day mark I finally logged on here and started reading about others experiences. I also had my wife take my 30 day pictures…at the end of 30 days the scale ‘said’ I lost 2 pounds...seemed like 30 days of hard work for only 2 pounds. But I remembered what others had written, “You’ll see most of your results in the 2nd month.” Around end of week 7/beginning of week 8…I noticed my trousers were starting to fit really loose, it was also around this time that I decided to upload my 30 day pictures on my profile. And when I did I was surprised...I could see the difference...for some reason I wasn’t noticing the changes on a daily basis...but when I compared day #1 to day 30 I was pleased with the progress. However when I got on the scale guess what...weight lost 2lbs (from day #1). At the end of my first round of Insanity®, doing every workout my results were: lost 4.1lbs, -.75” (neck), -2.25” (chest), -2.5 (hips) and -3 (waist)...that is a total of 8.5 inches lost...would I rather of lost the weight or the inches...the answer for me is easy...the inches.

I didn’t start Insanity® to lose weight; my purpose and goal for Insanity® was to have more energy, I am almost 50 with 4 children all under the age of 12. They all want to run around play hide and seek, tag, football, baseball...etc...and they want Dad to be out there running around/playing with them. I needed the energy; I now have that energy...I’m even training for a 5k road race.

Please note that during my first round I DID NOT follow the eating/diet plan. This time around I am trying hard to follow the calorie count and eat healthier. My wife is helping me with this as she is the one who prepares our meal.

My suggestion, whatever a person’s reason for doing the Insanity® program, would be to follow the workout schedule and eating plan. Especially if one wants to lose weight. Remember, we didn’t gain the extra weight ‘overnight’ and we aren’t going to get rid of it in 2 or 3 weeks. This is a 60 (63) day program – work the program...give it your best effort – you’ll be pleased with the results. You’ll never know the results you might have achieved, if you stop before the end of the ‘race’. For those who are feeling discouraged, I encourage you to finish this race/program...this isn’t a ‘drive thru / microwavable / sprint program – it’s a marathon. Finish what you started...you’ll be glad you did.

I've attached my before and after pictures and Fit Test Results.

WISHING YOU MUCH SUCCESS. JPP (Just Push Play).

Today I took my "before" picture. I'm not happy with what I saw, so it may take some time before I post it. I am actually starting the Insanity program this weekend, so I'll be a couple of days ahead. I'm always better working out on the weekends. I look forward to starting it with you guys!

I am really happy to have found a support team!

Hey Manuel I really want to lose my gut and about 25 lbs is it possible to do in the first round? Also, what cross trainers do you recommend?

I just did the fit test. I am covered in sweat and exhausted and have a headache coming on. Realizing just how bad I did makes me even more committed. I tell my 9 year old daughter that if she wants to get better at something she has to work at it and do it again and again until she figures it out (riding a bike for example). So, this is my opportunity to step and and now put my money where my mouth is.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

Ohioman -

Anything is possible - if you're willing to commit...not only to the workouts but the diet as well. Everyone loses weight differently...remember muscle burns fat...as you build muscle you'll be burning fat. Muscle doesn't take as much mass as fat so while your gut maybe disappearing the pounds may not be coming off as rapidly as you'd like. Is 25lbs possible? I would say if a person has 25lbs to lose...yes; some of the people in the infomercial lost about 30lbs...so it is possible.

As for cross trainers - I learned a long time ago to not recommend one brand or model (style) over another. We all have different foot types what might work for me might not work for 'the person' I'm recommending it to. I prefer Asics, however someone else might be a Nike, New Balance, or Under Armour person. I know enough to know that it would be very difficult to 'switch' a Nike person to Asics. A good friend of mine likes Asics; however they are not a good fit for her foot type...so she won't wear Asics. Any quality sporting good store will let you 'try' the shoe for fit...things to consider...do you have narrow or wide feet...high - low - or normal arches...is your second toe longer than your big toe. These are things only you can answer.

Wishing Everyone Much Success. JPP.
