Start gathering now, getting mentally ready, and prepare to dig deep starting April 19th.

This thread is for anyone wanting support, motivation, or just to cut up with others who are starting Insanity on April 19th.

My name is Brent, and I'm working on shedding a lot of body fat...

Last year I ordered P90X, did one round in the spring/early summer, and lost a decent amount of weight, many inches of fat, etc. A hurt shoulder and plain laziness and excuses kept me from exercising much of the rest of the year and I packed the weight and inches back on.

Right now I'm completing a round of P90X where I've dropped the weight back (and then some), got back to where I was when I left off last year (and then some), and have more energy and drive than ever before to reach where I want to be.

So I start Insanity on April 19th....and looking for some people wanting to push hard with me. Come in, say hi, get ready to post stats/pictures, and lets transform our bodies with over the next 60 days.

When I started my very first round of P90X last year, my stats were something like this:

Weight: 220 (from a Doctor's scale)
Waist: 47"
Chest: 48"
Body Fat: 34+%

I did one round of P90X last year, dropped a lot of body fat and a lot of inches. I hurt my shoulder a bit, got lazy, made excuses, and gained most of it back.

When I started my current round of P90X, My measurements were this:

Weight: 208 (and some change)
Waist: 44.5"
Chest: 48" (gained every bit of that back)
Body Fat: 30.4% (military method)

At the end of 30 days, I had incredible results...I'll post those pictures later.

At the end of 60 days, my waist was down to 41", chest down to 45", but my body fat by the calipers was down to 24.4% using a tri-fold measurement.

Day 90 comes next week...

But why Insanity?

I need a new challenge. I love P90X, but need to hear someone else's voice pushing me other than Tony. Its a shorter program, which will allow me to move back into P90X or a hybrid shortly after its over.

And more than anything, its geared towards cardio fitness, something I really want to improve on as I continue the fat shed.

So what are you goals with Insanity? Here are mine:

I want to drop another 6-8% body fat.

Weight down to 175.

Waist down to 36" or below.

Get rid of my back and chest fat.

Get better cardio fitness.

Begin showing ab definition, even if it is only a two pack.

My goal by end of this summer is 10% body fat. In this way, I'm a bit superficial...I want to look good without a shirt. I want my wife to look at me and say "wow!" I want people to notice the change. More than anything, though, I want to break the generational curse in my family (everyone in my family is in the obese state).

Jump in here with me....April 19 we're going to dig deep, push harder, and see what we are made of!

I wish I could start with you, but I just finished Insanity and need to take a break from it. Im starting my first round of p90x tonight, so it looks like we are on the opposite schedule. Your goals are attainable, with a fairly good diet. I went from 222 to 173 during Insanity, AMAZING PROGRAM! If p90x can do half of what insanity did I just may become the #1 salesman for these programs! HaHa

222 to 173 is impressive!

I think you'll burn more fat with Insanity, but you'll build more body mass with P90X. Not saying bulk, just good sculpting muscle.

I should finish out P90X around 188-190. My goal is 175 with Insanity, but more than that, is I want to be near that 10% body fat range. I figure I could go down to 165 or so on weight and still look good, but 175 with 10% body fat would be fine with me (and set me up for what I want to accomplish the rest of the year).

Here's hoping to good results with you on your P90X round! The 90 days is worth it!

Less than 1 week away from starting Insanity!

Tomorrow I get in a few things I wanted to try with this: Recovery drink (never took their drink with P90X), Shakeology, and of course, more supplements, something I have been using. I'm interested in trying Shakeology to have some variety in the meal plan, plus I think my wife might like it as she is going through Chalean Extreme.

Mentally, I'm ready. Physically, I am not sure...but I don't think anyone is. I'm looking forward to a new challenge. P90X has done great things, and now I want to shed more fat.

I'll be posting 90 day pictures sometime Saturday/Sunday. I'd love to hear from anyone starting Insanity for the first time (or second time) on the 19th with me.

Starting Insanity in the morning and cannot wait to get going!

I finished P90X on Saturday with a 9% loss in body fat, losing over 18" and over 18 pounds as well.

My goals with Insanity are to drop another 7-10% body fat (high goals, but doable I think) and get myself in condition to push even harder the second half of the summer.

Fit Test tomorrow early A.M. Hope someone reading this jumps and and reports in tomorrow on their progress as well.

Hi Michelle, thanks for jumping in here. Hopefully more will find this thread and follow suit.

Definitely going to have to get a group together to encourage. This fit test alone is a workout...cannot wait to see how toasted I am after the normal routines.

How old are your kids? We have three - 4 yrs, almost 4, and almost 9 months...all girls. They keep me busy!

I'll be posting my fit test results later today...at work now and do not have them in front of me.

Hey Mandy, thanks for jumping in here! Yeah, the fit test is definitely a tough one. The mini warm-up at the beginning was good to get the heart going and the breath working, and it only gets tougher tomorrow when that get extended to 10 minutes!

I'm looking forward to it, though. I had fun with P90X, had great results, but the bottom line is, I wanted to focus on shredding fat now...no doubt in my mind after this morning that Insanity will get me there.

Hey all, I started this morning and it totally kicked my butt! my numbers are way below everyone else on the fit test, but i know I will definitely improve as time goes on It just goes to prove how out of shape I really am. My husband was supposed to do this with me but I think he is going to back out because all he did was complain through the whole fit test. he is 6'5 and well over 300 pounds and it was his idea to do this in the first place and I beat his numbers and here he was saying he could do this stuff in his sleep.

my scores are:
Switch Kicks- 36 *possibly more, I lost count at 30*
Power Jacks- 17 *in my defense, they were my first successful jumping jacks EVER!*
Power Knees- 34
Power Jumps- 5
Globe Jumps- 2
Suicide Jumps- 0 *not enough arm strength, I tried though*
Push up jacks- 1
Low Plank Obliques-11 per leg... so 22

Hubby's Score-
Switch Kicks-30
Power Jacks- 20 *only one he beat me on*
Power Knees- 30
Power Jumps- 0
Globe Jumps- 1/2
Suicide Jumps- 0
Push up Jacks- 0
Low Plank Oblique- 4

I was absolutely drenched in sweat at the end of the fit test. i am looking forward to tomorrow. it should be interesting and much fun!

Hi! I'm Angie and I'm starting Insanity today, April 19th. I'd love to join your group. I'm really good at starting things, but not following through so I could really use the motivation. I would like to ultimately drop about 30 pounds. I did the plyo workout yesterday just see what it was all about...WOW. This is going to be tough! Can't wait to get started this evening!

Hey everyone,

I'll be jumping on board today as well. I'll be taking my fit test when I get home from work. This will actually be my "second" time doing Insanity. I started in January and was a month into the program but then life came into play and 3 of my family members ended up moving in with me so the house has been really hectic and we just barely got everything organized and settled. All excuses aside, I'm ready to take Insanity head on again. I actually might even mix in half a P90X upper body workout from time to time.
For those of you who are doing this the first time, I'm not going to lie, the workouts are tough. Although, you're working so hard and focusing so intently that those 40 minutes literally FLY by, feels more like 15-20 minutes (I kid you not), so don't be scared. Just stick with it, push yourself and make sure your shirt is off (gentleman) because your body will be heating up QUICK!

Best of luck to everyone. I'll try and post Day 1 pictures tonight, maybe some fit test stats too to keep me accountable.

Let's do this everyone!

Hey guys, my husband and I started with the fit test this morning too, so I thought I'd say hi! We're both 30, and he recently got out of the army and packed on the pounds in these last 8 months. I haven't worked out regularly since college, and literally cried this morning with my fit test results. I can't believe how out of shape I am! Anyway, I'm very motivated to keep going, and I'm looking forward to seeing improvement the next time I take the test!

Arm strength is my biggest weakness too, so I feel the above posters pain with the suicide jumps (that was the point I burst into tears)

Welcome to the thread lcoulter23, alaw (Angie), dodgerguy89, and Chrish228 (and the spouses doing it with them!). I'm glad we are getting some support going in here. The next 60 days we'll all need it, I'm sure.

lcoulter - I don't have my numbers in front of me, but not sure I did much better on some of those moves. I started out way too fast on the switch kicks and was getting tired about 35 seconds into it...that set the pace for the rest of the test for me. My one strength did come in the push-up jacks, but coming off of P90X, strength moves should be my stronger moves.

Angie - glad you are joining us. 30 pounds is a lot, but from seeing the infomercial for the first time yesterday, it seems doable (or a majority of it at least). I'm about 20 lbs from where I initially wanted to be...I'm hoping to get there as well!

dodgerguy - You're the veteran here, so don't be surprised if you get a lot of questions. =)

Chrish - Glad you and your husband are joining. Thank him for his service to our country for me please. My father-in-law recently retired from the Army National Guard...had one mission in Egypt and two in Iraq. We have a great deal of respect for all of our service men and women.

Brent: I'm quite alright with that LOL. I'll be more than willing to share whatever knowledge I have.

First tip I can offer that works for me is to do the warm-ups with nothing but socks. I know for me personally, I experienced a lot of pain in my feet while doing the warm-up portion of the workouts (all warm-ups are basically identical) and ditching the shoes for those parts solved the problem. Just a quick bit of info for you guys.

What kind of floor are you working with to do the warm-up without shoes? I'm working out on carpet...I'd be afraid of losing traction and rolling an ankle!

Here are my fit test results:

Switch Kicks (Both legs = 1) - 52
Power Jakcs - 42
Power Knees - 63
Power Jumps - 18
Globe Jumps - 7
Suicide Jumps - 11
Push-up Jacks - 26
Low Plank Oblique (both legs = 1) - 15

By about Globe Jumps I was really feeling it. I'm not sure if these numbers are good/bad/indifferent, but it is where I'm starting.

Plyo Cardio Circuit in the morning....getting ready to really dig deep and see what I'm made of!

Cardio Circuit complete. Man...this one was tough. The warm-up went a lot better than I thought it would. I had to stop a few times mainly to shake out muscles a bit, but didn't feel like it winded me to much.

The rest of the workout was a different story, though. Towards the end I was completely gassed and gasping for air. The L1 drills to ski abs is a ton tougher than what it looks.

I am going into this not caring about how many calories I burn. I know if I keep my heart rate high, I'm doing the right thing. For the first 2/3rds of it I was hovering around 170. As I got tired, I let it drop into the upper 150's. I have a long ways to go on this one.

What is everyone doing for the diet? I'm following the guidebook completely (except for all-natural peanut butter) and aiming for 1800 - 2000 calories a day.

Yea I did the first workout today (Cardio Circuit) and I was able to do most of it..but then as he went faster I couldn't keep up but I pushed myself and finished it. I couldn't do the cross jumping jacks or the pushups but other then that I could keep up to most of it.. Sweated a lot but drank lots of water and then had my protein drink afterwords

As for the diet, I'm not going by the book 100% as I work afternoons but I watch what I'm eating and I took junk, pop, etc all out of my diet ...I'm going hard core on this program

During the workout I wanted to give up cause it hurt so much but I kept pushing and thinking just 60 days is all I gotta go through...I CAN DO IT
