Insanity + P90X - Twice a Day / Back to Back - Starting 4/19ish
Hi Everyone,

I started Insanity this week & I'm planning on starting P90X next week. I guess it is more of a doubles.

These are both first rounds for me. I was never a video workout person, but Insanity has reeled me. Shaun T's cues and energy are excellent. I've tried out many before but I barely get through the first one. I started out planning on just doing Insanity but through the week I realized I needed something else added.

I haven't decided which I'll do in the morning and which I'll do in the evening. My primary training goal is to build endurance and this seems like good option. I'll likely schedule out workouts a month at a time w/o being overly strict. The first week will be a trial run and I'll adjust from there. I'm a big believer in testing things out to see how they work for each individual.

From the posts I've come across, I haven't seen women doing both on the same day. So if you're ready to challenge yourself feel free to join me on this journey! Anyone can really.

Even if you're not doing these two in particular but others that's fine too - we're all here for the same purpose - to be better at something!

Hi Sierra,

That's a great routine! I can't say I use this word much, but what a trooper! How has the program being going since day 3? I hadn't heard or seen too much about BBL but I caught part of an infomercial just yesterday. How intense would you say the workouts are in comparison to the other two?

I should be receiving my P90X today (UPS - are you listening!) so then I'll finally get to see which is more intense for me, P90X or Insanity.

And also figure out food - I eat pretty well so I may just stick to it. I also think the first stage of the P90X guide will be too little carbs for me with the Insanity, etc. At this point in my life, I think I know my performance levels pretty well and I don't want to sacrifice that. Who know though, I'm always open to adjustments.

What type of yoga are you doing on day 7? I think that's a perfect way to end the week. :-)

You made my day by sharing your program, it feels like great support in knowing someone else is going through the same thing (although you have more experience with these!), thank you.

Hey Nala,

Go ahead Girl!!! You can do it! I'm sure it will be a real challenge to adjust to both work out regimines. Remember, if your muscles are hurting you too much, you may need to cut back on some of your exercise routines. In regards to which one to do first- I don't think it matters, however, I would suggest doing 1 routine for the full amount and doing the 2nd routine for a shorter time (until you get adjusted. For example:

Mon-Sat: P90x in the morning
Mon, Wed, Fri: Insanity in the evening.

or you can switch it around so that it works for your body. Then you can add on additional Insanity videos as you get stronger and need a bigger push.

I think this is a great idea, I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I'm starting my 1st round of P90x on 4/19. I may also purchase the Insanity workouts and throw those into the mix as well. I will be blogging and posting EVERYTHING.

I will definitley follow you during this journey- you can follow my journey @

Best of luck!!!

Hi Browne Bombshell,

Yay! Glad you're starting at the same time too. We can all use this thread as a support system. I'll def follow you on your journey!

As for the timing, I don't have anything set in stone, especially as I've not done the P90X workouts before. When I workout w/o videos I always do strength first, then cardio and/or alternate days with intervals. That has worked out well in the past. I always changed the actually workouts up though.

Insanity really energizes me for the most part, so I may do that earlier in the day so I can sleep peacefully after P90X. ;-) Especially as for these I will be splitting them up during the day. It would be a nice way to start the day too & I'll feel more awake in the evening ready for P90X.

I'm really just thinking out loud here - I might just change my mind 180 once I actually do them! We'll see.

I'll do Insanity in the morning by default Monday b/c UPS wouldn't have been here yet. I'll report back once I'm done with the day.

Looking forward to hearing how your first workout went!

I'm in! I started P90x regular on Saturday, so week 2 begins this upcoming Saturday. If I don't have my insanity by then, to read over, I'll start it up the following week. I just want to make sure I'm not overwhelming myself. But I'm happy about all the cardio because I love it!

first 90 days will be p90x lean + insanity (first 60 days)
second 90 days will be p90x classic + insanity (first 60 days)
third 90 days will be p90x doubles + insanity (more spread out across the 90 days)

Looking forward to the challenge!

P.S. I'm alternating cardio x with plyometrics from week to week.
