Hey guys. Heres the confusion.
Shaun T says to eat food after you work out to replenish your body.
However Tony Horton from P90X says that the hunger is fake and its only your body craving nutrients. Instead drink lots of water untill the hunger subsides and eat later on.
Whos right?
They are both right and obviously smart (experts!). You have to look at the context really. What are you goals? It's important to replenish your body after a workout - this means with water & carbs with a little protein. You need to hydrate well, especially after working out.
You can have the results & recovery formula or some chocolate milk works just as well (preferably not whole).
You need carbs in your diet, especially post-workout. They will help your body recover.
What you don't want to do - is overeat just because you worked out. For example, if you burned 300 calories, you don't want to chug 1000 calories of choc milk. It depends on your goals. Not to take the calorie count literally (I'm more of a portion/feel person) but it's important to make sure you are are eating well throughout the day too so you have enough energy to workout and also don't go overboard post-workout.
Hope this helps!
