Hello-

I live in an older home, and I want to get a pull up bar that I do not have to drill into the woodwork to install. However, I have another problem too.

The Beachbody Doorway Pull Up Bar notes in it's specs that it "Fits doorways up to 32" wide (sturdy doorframe with trim required—minimum 5" width, maximum 6.5")".

I have a door that is less than 32" wide, so that's no problem. Notice the next part though- "minimum 5" width, maximum 6.5"" - what this is describing is the width of the casing, from in one room to the other room. I think it's better to describe this as the depth of your door. In my house, the door casings are approximately 7.5", which are very deep.

When I tried to put the pull up bar up, it simply was not deep enough to reach around the door frame.

Is there a pull up bar of a similar style that I can purchase that will fit my deep casings?

Are there any solutions other than drilling into the woodwork or using bands (which is what I have been doing, but don't feel like I get much from)?

Thank you for your responses.

I had the exact same problem, so I made one, and it works great, do a google search for "homemade doorway pull up bar" and you should find it(should be the first link) just make sure you measure everything correctly and make adjustments for your door frame
