Lack of motivation with Insanity workouts?
Showing 13 results.
I am in week 2 of the Insanity workouts. For the past 2 days - it has been a struggle to get up and workout. I know I needed to work on my cardio endurance; but, this is ridiculous. Today, I got back in bed - just to get up and finally workout. I knew if I didn't work out I would regret it ALL day.

I am happy to say - today was the first day, I felt like I had to dig deeper and really push, prior to today - I've had to stop because of my Asthma. I actually felt accomplished today - but, boy am I sore - I really pushed as hard as I could this morning.

What is even more amazing to me - is checking my HR and calculating the amount of calories I'm burning in the workout. I don't believe I've ever burned more than 350 calories in a cardio workout. But, all last week - I was burning an average of 700 calories - this morning my monitor showed 900 calories! Incredible! I've been doing pretty well with my diet - I can definitely feel the difference when I've eatten right and can make it through my workouts. So I am going to keep on pushing - my workouts are at 4:30 in the morning - so most mornings, I would prefer to stay in bed and catch a few more zzz's; but, I've been getting up and it's paying off.

When my day is very stressful - it's nice to look back and know I did something good for myself first thing in the morning.

You are not the only one!

I'm on Month 2 Week 3 Day 4. Woke up at 6 am, got ready, drank some recovery formuly for the energy, pressed play and just could not muster up the effort to start the program. I let it run for a minute, and rewinded the dvd...tried again, NOTHING.

This is the first time this happened to me. I know the reason why (because i'm female and blessed with my month gift) and I didnt take a rest day last week because Im going on vacay this weekend.

My theory is that we are EXHAUSTED! the thought of insanity makes me want to hurl but I cant bear the thought of missing a day this far along.

I'm going to Press Play tonight when I get home from work. Max Interval Sports Training will get done!

You might try supplementing in the morning before you workout. If you take something that will help you keep your endurance up during your workout, you might not have such a hard time convincing yourself to get up and get started. You can compare different pre-workout products at prosource.net...look for something in pill form or something you can mix with your workout water and drink during the workout. (you probably won't want to drink a heavy protein formula or anything right before doing Insanity workouts)
You'll probably want to give yourself 15 minutes or so after taking a supplement before you start working out which may mean having to get up a bit earlier emoticon so use your own judgment on this one.

p.s. I know asthma really sucks, but just keep in mind that these workouts will also help you with that. Your lungs will get stronger along with everything else...

You are getting your mind right first and then the body will follow. Great job!
I understand, I am not a morning person, even as a teen I loved to sleep 9 or 10 hours a nite, and I still do, but now it just means I go to bed early by 9:00 to get up at 5:30 (sorry I know its an hour more, but I used to go to bed at 8:30, and get up at 3:30 to be at the gym to do weight training and then a spin class) so if we concour our minds then it will all fall into place.

you should be very proud of yourself for diggin deeper and getting it done. A sense of empowerment that you have given yourself and no one can take away.

This is truly the hardest workout i have ever done and I did Army bootcamp, we are truly doing something right for our mind, body and soul! Good for you for gettin it done!

The newness wore off for me during week two, but I soon found new motivation. I new the fit test was coming up and I didn't want to fail. I'm also taking pictures every 14 days. That serves as motivation. Just little things to keep you going. good luck

Thanks for the motivation. That does help - for awhile I thought my mind was slipping. emoticon

This is a bit of a thread hijack, but OCGurl how far into your Insanity/CLX hybrid are you? How do you like it so far? I finished my first round of Insanity, took a week off, and then started CLX. Initially I was doing doubles with Insanity and CLX, but then I just got too busy to do two workouts a day. I'm in my first week of the Push Phase and contemplating going back to doing doubles. I still generally replace the Burn Intervals and Charge It Off (or whatever it's called) with Insanity workouts and do them on the rest days as well, but I just feel better when I'm doing Insanity every day. I'm not crazy about Chalene or CLX, but I it's not bad, and I want to finish it. I think it will produce results and will be worth it in the end. I just miss Insanity!

Hello KSK, you look beautiful in your white dress, I am assuming it is a wedding pic, at any rate Beautiful!

I am Wk 2, Day 5
I do Insanity 6 mornings and CE 5 evenings, with CLX I also replace Burn it off/Recharge (cardio) with one of the weight intervals, if it is a cardio day, I just go back to a Burn interval. I am liking CLX and I think it is a good preparation for P90X which I will start once i finish CLX, and still keep Insanity in the mix.

I am finding that this routine works well for me. I need both the cardio and the weight training as I feel for me it is a well rounded program. I am not trying to lose any weight really, good where I am, at 25% BF, but wouldnt mind getting closer to 20%, and I think I can accomplish it with both.
hope that helps!

Aww, thank you! Wow, you're a go-getter! I feel like I need both cardio and weight training too. I can't do just the weight training alone because I just feel like I'm not getting enough of a workout in. Plus I'm finding it harder to stay motivated and strict with my nutrition without Insanity. There's just something about that program that made me super motivated, and I think that's what's missing from CLX. I'm not trying to lose any weight either but wouldn't mind dropping some body fat. I think after I'm done with CLX I'll do a second round of just Insanity. Thanks for sharing and answering my questions!

Well - my motivation is back! I had the best workout this morning. It was actually nice to have to push pass the pain instead of having to stop because of asthma. emoticon

It's still a struggle to get up in the morning because the bed is soooo comfy. emoticon But, I know if I go to work and I haven't worked out in the morning - I will feel guilty. I love it when I'm lying in bed and feel like my body is so much lighter.

Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement.

Good for you!!! I know what you mean, I love to sleep, it sure is not overrated, I am finding that going to bed at 9:30 and waking by 5:30, 8 hours is good for me, (although I love 9) and working out hard I can get a deep sleep.
I am so glad that you are feeling great now and motivated to get up, there is nothing like the feeling of completing the Insanity workout and feeling great all day!! Continued success!

hi KSK,
how are you?
I put CLX on hold and started P90X along with my 27 y.o. son, who wanted to start it....i plan to replace the Plyo in PX with yoga or stretch, as I dont think i can take that kind of pounding from both workouts. But I am enjoying the weight training alot!
I have 2 weeks in Mex coming up - the land of bikinis....thats motivation
I hope your workouts are going well for you!
