Okay, it's been FOREVER for me, so please be patient and understanding as I try to catch up . . . if I miss you, please no it was not intentional. I am so motivated by each and every one of your posts! Also, these responses are in random order . . . I really hope they make sense! emoticon

SkatingIsFun: I’m USFSA old too! Patched Monday through Friday before school and weekends as well. School and then off to ballet, then home for piano and homework and bed. Wheeee!!!

Congrats on your running. For me, it was the opposite: P90X hampered my endurance immensely! My running SUFFERED BIG TIME. For me, it HAS to be an off-season thing.

41canbringit: I think Jack’s chiropractor is on to something regarding Ab Ripper X. Even bbadvicestaff says it is not a necessary element to P90X, so feel free to ditch it if it causes pain: http://teambeachbody.com/connect/message-boards/-/message_boards/message/58966548

Have you gone on your surprise anniversary trip yet?

Poet: Did I ever congratulate you on your before/after pics and stats? WAY TO GO!!! You look so much happier – emotionally as well as physically lighter. And way to go on those Fit Test stats – WOW!!!

Raquelmb (in case you check in again): Just eat what you can and your appetite should catch up as you BRING IT in each and every workout. If you need to break your intake into smaller portions spread throughout the day, that’s fine, with your goal being to work up to meeting your requirements. You really will need all the energy you can get for these workouts, so don’t skimp for long or you’ll be sorry!

GingerM, kell2thebell, carol220, sarah0811, krsnycc, purple1211, senoraking, mygirl22, and any other newbies I may have missed:: Welcome! And thanks to those who’ve shared your progress pics, tips, etc. Great stuff!

Katukene: So sorry to hear about your wisdom tooth woes. I remember getting mine out in high school (they were impacted). Of course, my mom scheduled the extractions during Easter vacation so I wouldn’t miss any school. My face was STILL bruised when I went back the following week and I was called into the counselor’s office and asked if everything was okay at home . . . I guess they thought my mom was beating me! Okay, so yes, this dates me: Easter vacation and school counselors? I think those went the way of the vinyl record album . . .

p90xallicat: Contact customer service and they should be able to hook you up with replacement guides.

Melanie: Feel free to add me as a Buddy if you want some encouragement re building muscle – it is possible, even for those of us on the smaller side! I’m not a coach or anything, but perhaps you can take a little something from my experience and not have to go through as much of a learning curve as I had to do on my own!

Shimama: My friend, who is VERY FIT, told me she had the same problem adjusting to the altitude when she moved from Phoenix to Colorado. It took her several weeks to acclimate, so hang in there!

Octobersky: “What do you do if you get sick?” This is your mother speaking: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!! And REST. Do NOT skimp on calories, as your body needs them to fight the infection. In fact, the Fitness Advisor wrote something about this recently on his blog. Can’t post the link here, but it’s Steve Edwards’ blog called The Straight Dope.

Oh, just read your post about the skin cancer. My husband has battled with the same kind and has had numerous surgeries. Feel free to message me if you want more info; I’m sure he wouldn’t mind my sharing with you. Thankfully, basal cell is highly treatable. Are you having MOHS surgery? Oh, and I have some great suggestions for you on UPF clothing, sunscreens, etc. I am the QUEEN of covering up! However, this resulted in dangerously low vitamin d levels, so remember to take a supplement from now on.

Shebasue2: I’m doing Plus. There are three “versions,” kinda like with the X: Lean, Classic, and Doubles. I’m kind of doing Classic, but have ditched the Kenpo Plus and Interval Plus dvds. I didn’t want to do another X round as I didn’t want to do any more muscle building for now and wanted to focus more on muscular endurance. You may want to look at those schedules and then modify from there. Best place to post your ideas is over on the Information and Education/Fitness forum. Post your proposed schedule and then the Fitness Advisor can help you tweak from there.

Tammi: Welcome back from New Orleans! How are you liking Plus? I am already getting bored/burned out on it. I did two practice weeks and am now on week 3 of it “for real.” So, I have done Upper Plus and Abs/Core Plus 9 times and Total Body 4 times. One more time for each this week and then non-recovery week next week. Did you notice there are NO recovery weeks in the Plus??? Next week goes back to Phase I Classic for the week and then back to Upper Plus, Abs/Core Plus, and Total Body Plus for another 3 weeks. The good thing is that I barely have to use the dvd’s anymore – thank God, because they are THE WORST!!! Also, I am not doing the timer thing, but rather maxing out my reps on all the exercises, so it takes me quite a bit longer than the 45 minutes per workout (more like 90 minutes). I’m looking forward to seeing how I do going back to Chest, Shoulers and Tris, Back and Bis, and Core Syn next week!

Abby: WHEW!!! on the clean bill of health for you.

chickfactor: Sounds like you’re getting great results and I love the mind transformation thing! Way to go!

luvshoes: Remember that muscle microtrauma causes water retention, so don’t pay too much heed to the “swelling.” It’s normal.

I don’t own a scale either. Seems kind of pointless to me as it’s going to show a pound gained if I drink a glass of water before stepping on, or a pound lost if I take a big dump beforehand (tee hee!). Why base my outlook/self-esteem on that??? Please throw yours out – in fact, why not run it over with your car? It might be therapeutic!

Wow! Just saw your photo – nice boo-tay!!! I can REALLY see a positive difference (toned, tightened, and lifted!). Wow!

flyersfan4life: Where in CA are you going on vacation? It’s FINALLY gun-showing weather out here, so sounds like you’re prepared! It was in the 50’s just two weeks ago and now it’s near 90! YIKES!!!

fabbecky: TANK OOO for sharing about your little boy. It certainly brought a smile to my face!

SarahMarsh: When do we get to see a photo of you in your Christmas shirt???

Bridgette503: HANG IN THERE!!! Now’s the time to really take care of yourself, emotionally and physically. You deserve it (to take care of you!).

LAM86: How are the hips? The ARX exercises make it very easy to reply on the hip flexors rather than the ab muscles, so try to be VERY CONSCIOUS about using your abs. If you can’t do all the reps with good form (using those abs), then just stop when you lose form. Eventually, you’ll be able to complete them. Or, take a look at the bbadvicestaff post I linked above and forget ARX! You’ll get plenty of core/ab work with the rest of the workouts!

Also, maybe you should join our no scale club! Seriously, please do not let a number determine your self-worth. Hope you have a GREAT time in Disneyland! emoticon

Have a great week everyone! emoticon

I started off at 125 pounds and ended at 128 pounds! Oh well! My clothes fit better! I tried on all of my high waisted dresses on day 90 pics and was so happy to realize they all fit sooo much better! Not my pants though.... That darn prosthetic!!! LOL!!!! Well, dropping weight with INSANITY now, so hopefully it will shrink enough to let my old pants fit right once again!!!!!

Oh! And I am 33 if anyone wants to know!!! (But shhh!!!! I tell everyone I am still 21!!!)emoticon

Bridgette - No need to be disappointed in yourself. Life happens, my friend. You were where you needed to be. You didn't "let" yourself miss the workouts. I know you will get back on track soon.

Congrats on your success so far!! 5 lbs. is great.

LAM86:
Hey Ladies,

So I have to be honest. I have not been my best. My first rest week was more rest than doing the "easier" stuff. I used the excuse of not feeling well (I wasn't but not THAT bad).
I have been good so far during my first phase II week but its my birthday week and my bf is taking me on vacation and I have trouble believing I'll be all good. I can make good choices eating out but with all the walking (Disneyland) I doubt I'll be able to do the workouts. Probably just yoga to stretch out my hips every day.
Also, yesterday was a BIG cheat day for me. Like not a good, allow yourself a little treat, but I was exhausted (I know, no excuse) because I've been trying to do my workouts in the morning, so I woke up early to work out. At work a client brought us dim sum for lunch (I had neither the will power nor courage to say No. Everyone in my office eats junk and I often get teased for eating so healthy..) Then came home from work and then ate a WHOLE 12" think crust pizza (it was whole wheat?? lol).
Ugh. I think I'm just discouraged because I haven't seen ANY results on the scale and I'm BUSTING my butt. I did day 30 measurements the other day and I'll post them later. I lost 3 inches overall. I can feel my butt is lifted and my abs are stronger and my inner thighs burn almost all the time (its my big weight hoarding area). So I'm happy about that but I just can't get past the numbers on the scale. I can mentally understand that muscle weighs more than fat and that I'm probably just building muscle to burn fat etc but I keep thinking that if I have this muscle I should be burning more fat by now. I don't know. Maybe I need more cardio?

Don't wallow in it - you've learned, now move on and get back on track. I know it's really (REALLY) hard to be patient, but you need to hang in there. Put the scale away!!! NOW!! I'm telling you that results will come if you stick with the program. Have faith.

Anyhow, turns out I have definitely strained muscles and also a bladder infection - lovely. She said all of this combined, including air in my intestines (ew) is causing the pain. So I'm on antibiotics now and muscle relaxers. Hopefully I can get back to the normal routine next week. I'll keep pushing play until then, skipping out on any tummy stuff which kills me because that is what I desperately need work on!

Mel -
Glad to hear that you figured out what is going on. We have been worried!! Don't push yourself too hard. Concentrate on healing; then you can concentrate on Bringing It!!

Hi Ladies,

Has anyone else experienced a drop in energy. I started the first three weeks and had tons of extra energy, it felt GREAT. I am now in day two of week 4 and have negative energy, I am dragging all day. Just currious if this is common at this point in the program. I am due to change to phase 2 next week in the diet and workout.

Thanks for your awesome inspiration and encouragement!

Hey-I feel like it's been forever too. We had a ball tourney this weekend and I logged 6 games!! Moving a little slower than usual now.

michm - I haven't been on the trip yet-it's a little later this month. :-)

I'm going to try posting the hip flexor stretch again-the original post is on the lost page somewhere. If this ends up being a duplicate, my apologies. I was hoping the page would resurface, both for the lost info & so I didn't have to retype.

This hip flexor stretch is one that my RMT gave me to do and it's absolute GOLD if you have persistently tight flexors!

Laying on a counter/massage table etc. (whatever is high enough that your feet don't touch bottom to start), line up your butt with the absolute edge (it may feel like you're about to fall off) and pull one knee up to your chest & hold it. Let the other leg dangle straight over the edge. Have your helper stand by your legs facing you & use their chest/shoulder for your toes to help you not fall off counter. They should cup their hand(s) over your dangling knee & apply gentle down pressure while you engage your flexor and try to pull your knee up. Don't overdo it-its just a gentle engagement. Hold this for about 5 seconds, then have them release. Repeat the process a few times until you feel your hip flexor stretching/releasing. As you do this, your dangling toes may eventually touch the ground. Repeat on the other side.

Hope this is as helpful to others as it was to me!

Love the photos - congrats!!!! Great results. You definitely win the "best booty" award!! emoticon

I wouldn't worry about the weight "gain" - it's clear that your body fat has reduced and been replaced by good, lean muscle. I give you tons of credit for taking on Insanity. I'm sure you will have great results (you already do!!).

Thanks for posting your photos. I think the more we can share with one another, the more it helps us all.

Hi Terra,

I definitely experienced the energy drop. If you are following the nutrition plan and have reduced your carbs-it may be time to bring back the additional serving. (Good carbs of course!)

Woohoo - check out that tush!! It definitely lifted and came in on the sides. You have the "booty dents" (and I don't mean the cottage cheese ones that we all started with). Awesome job. I too am hoping for some serious change in the rear so your pics are an inspiration to me to KPP.

Thanks for sharing.

Yup, that was me at Week 2. That Phase 1 diet just didn't do it for me. I've added more carbs & more calories (actually more like Phase III). I really felt awful so I feel your pain. For the record, the day I added more food, I instantly felt better - no waiting.

Hope you are able to work it out. emoticon
