Insanity without the diet plan?
How likely is it that I will still get results even though I am not following the nutrition plan? I don't over-eat or under-eat, I just eat when I'm hungry. I seem to be getting through the workout just fine, but will I see results? Has anyone else done Insanity without the nutrition plan?

You don't "need" to follow the plan, so long as you eat well. This means quality foods in the right portions. Ideally more than 3 meals a day, but depending on your goals, you shouldn't have a problem. You look fairly young in your photo, and youth is a bit forgiving with diet...emoticon
I'm not so young, and don't follow the plan, but I eat really clean with 5 or 6 meals a day. I'm doing ok, results wise.

I didn't follow the plan, and I'm on day 59 - one more workout to go.

I regret not eating smarter. I ate 5 small meals the entire time, but the meals were too small, and I didn't get enough protein. That was a mistake. My body needed more fuel, and kept burning the muscle that I was building.

I started Insanity at 183, and now I'm at 184 (6'2" male). Yes, my body has transformed. But I was hoping to get down to a more solid 180. I think I would have seen better results had I followed a better diet plan.

A good nutrition plan with any fitness program is critical for success, meaning eating the right foods , 5-6 meals a day. Even if you dont eat the exact recipes given in the guide, you should study it as it will give a good perspective on the proper foods to eat. The Michi's ladder in the back of the book is a good place to refer to for the right kinds of foods. Sticking to tiers one and two is always good.

As well incorporating the types of foods recommended is a good idea as bread should always be whole grains, or flourless breads not white, and oats should be steel cut or quick cooking without sugar, not the flavored kind in a packet laden with sugar, like Maple and Brown Sugar.

As well look at labels for sodium, sugars, bad culprits. If you have a burger make sure it is lean ground sirloin beef like 4% fat, (or less if you can find it) or lean turkey meat with 1% fat, not the ground chuck that is 30% fat. Eggs, one of natures perfect foods!

So in other words, you dont need to follow the guide exactly, you can still enjoy a burger, but your burger would be - a whole grain bun, lean protein meat, fat free cheese, mustard, tomato, lettuce, no mayo or ketchup, etc.

Try to eat foods that do not come in a box or can, not processed, good nutritious food from the ground, lean proteins, good carbs like oats, yams, Kashi cereal (Go Lean) if you eat dairy, get fat free or non fat like cottage cheese, Greek Yogurt.
Carry good snacks with you like raw nuts, protein powder or a good protein bar.

Hope that helps
