Week 3 of Insanity: No results whatsoever
Showing 15 results.
I've been doing the Insanity program for 3 weeks now and here are my results:

Day 1:
Weight:167.8 lbs
Waist: 33 in
Hips: 39 in
L.Thigh: 25 in
R.Thigh: 25 in

Day 8:
Weight: 170.8 lbs
Waist: 34 in
Hips: 39.5 in
L.Thigh: 25 in
R.Thigh: 25 in

Day 15:
Weight: 169.2 lbs
Waist: 34.5 in
Hips: 39 in
L.Thigh: 25.5 in
R.Thigh: 25 in

So technically, no results at all.
I admit, I do not follow the eating plan, but I don't go out and stuff my face either. I eat when I'm hungry. I never wanted to buff like the trainers in the videos, I just wanted to lose some weight, and maybe even some waist. And even without the eating plan, jumping around like a maniac for 15 days should get you some results, right? I've heard of people who say they've lost weight in the first week!

So what could I possibly be doing wrong? Is the program only for body builders whose bodies are used to burning fat like machines? Has Insanity failed anyone else?

I did Insanity last fall and saw pretty awesome results, then I stopped working out and now I'm back to my pre-Insanity numbers (I just started day 1 again today, so I'm hoping it will work again!) I'm certainly not a body builder and wasn't doing much to work-out prior to Insanity last fall (just running a few days a week). I somewhat followed the meal plan before -- meaning that I tried to do the 5 meals a day thing and tracked my calories, but didn't really follow the recipes in the book. Have you tried tracking calories? I'm wondering if maybe you're just replacing the calories you're burning with food. Might be worth a try to track your food for a few days and see how many calories you're consuming.

Are your fit test numbers getting better?

Good luck!

Today is actually my 2nd Fit Test, so I will be able to answer that later this afternoon. Maybe I should track my calories, but I alway have difficulty finding calories for things such as home-cooked meals. So you go by the amount of calories the nutrition book recommended you should eat?

Thank you for your input emoticon

Around what week did you start seeing your results?

you can invest in a nutrition book - I have "Complete Book of Food Counts" by Corinne Netzer, it lists Cals, Carbs, fat, sodium, fat, cholestrol and fiber.
You can get it at most book stores or Amazon for under $10. Nutrition is half the program really, you will be amazed at how much we actually eat once we start counting, weighting and measuring. Also check out calorieking.com. Getting a scale will help to weight everything, you can get one at target for a low cost.

Hope that helps.

Keep at it you are gaining muscle. A lot of people here have said that they don't see major results until month 2. That's the way the program is designed. Stick with it and you will see results in the end. I am just starting month 2, and my pants are looser, but I still can't see results in the mirror, but I feel better.

It turns out I did improve on my fit test, and I also started counting calories. I'm not gonna go over the limit they recommended.

Im on week 5 of Insanity. I admit I usually dont make it through all of the workouts (Usually get super tired after the warmup!). But I keep pushing through as much as I can, and I can tell you that Ive gotten pretty good results so far.

My advice is this:
You dont have to follow the nutrition plan, but I HIGHLY suggest you break your meals into smaller portions more frequently throughout the day. Generally my day consists of the following: Morning: Coffee/Mocha (contains mostly milk), Mid-Morning Snack: Cottage Cheese and Yoplait Greek Yogurt, Lunch: Turkey on wheat with a bit of honey mustard + piece of fruit (usually an apple or banana), Mid-afternoon snack: Piece of fruit and a protein shake (protein powder + milk), After-workout/dinner: Chocolate Milk or Protein shake with a light dinner (Piece of chicken or breakfast for dinner)

I dont think its really about "eating when you're hungry". Its about eating so that your body's metabolism is constantly going. When you take in too much food at a time, you are trying to feed your body more energy than it can burn. So instead of burning it, it ends up turning into fat.

As for losing weight, you probably wont lose any unless you have a lot of fat to lose. I was ~165 lbs when I started. I'm 165 lbs 5 weeks into the program. I've lost body fat for sure. Ive gained muscles in places I never had muscles before.

The program works, just stick with it and eat small meals throughout the day. As a final work of advice, drink LOTS of water. Cut out all the crap like soda. Its extra calories that arent needed. Besides the mocha I drink in the morning, the only other stuff I drink is milk and water. I probably take in 100 oz of water a day (roughly 3 large Nalgene bottles worth). This burns some calories in an of itself and also helps your metabolism.

I did Insanity last fall. Did you take a "before" picture? My first month of Insanity, I GAINED 5 pounds. I was soooo mad. Later that came off and a few extra. But my weight was about the same when I finished as when I started. Then I took my "after" picture, and uploaded it, thinking I was going to be annoyed. I ALMOST PASSED OUT!!!! I looked CRAZY different, smaller, tighter, leaner, even though the scale was the same. You're gaining a lot of muscle (I know, hearing that doesn't always help), but it's true. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen the pics! Good luck, it's a tough workout but you'll feel amazing when you're done emoticon

I **DO** follow the eating plan and lost 5 pounds the first week and 2 pounds the following week. I would suggest you follow the eating plan.

#1 Don't look at the scale. As was stated earlier you may be replacing fat weight with muscle. How much fat do you have to lose to begin with? Taking measurements once a week is best. Good job there.

#2 Insanity is based on the concept of "Progressive Overload". Typically with these programs you won't see results until weeks 6-8, the middle of month 2.

#3 Nutrition is THE KEY. Garbage in-garbage out. If you are realistic at all about results, take responsibility for what you put into your own body. If you don't eat right you will burn out during the workout. I made this mistake in month 2 and paid for it. I didn't up my carb intake was not able to make the adjustment to keep up with anybody in the cast. They ALL left me behind. And not recovering from the workouts is another ramification from not eating right.

#4 muscle tissue is repaired during rest. This happens during sleep and the rest day. DO NOT skip them. And the recovery week between month 1&2. If you don't respect this you are setting yourself up for failure. More so than with improper nutrition.

I don't mean to be a dick. Just giving the info w/o any fluff.

You have to stop looking at the scale and ask your self how am i feeling. Some people take a long time to lose weight and others lose it fast you just have to keep moving. You know what they say a watch kettle will never boil. So keep it up and and never give up.

I just cannot consume that many calories a day either. I tried eating the meal plan and threw up. SO i stopped. I eat 5-6 small meals a day but still feel like I am not losing anything either. I am on week 3 as well. Will start week 4 monday. Any suggestions?
