Hello ALL!!

My Friend and I are starting INSANITY together GREAT HUH?!?! We are both honestly big girls not HUGE but like chubby (5'3", 160-180lbs)

I have a pretty big living room BUT it has carpet and an area rug. We aren't big on shoe wearing in the house (don't want to get the carpet dirty.

It is safe to do the insanity workouts on carpet or should we invest on getting like rubber mats like for yoga or something?

PLEASE advice is needed!!! INSANITY comes to my door in 5-7 days LOL

We need like the essentials fitness at home list for the INSANITY work out.

THANKS!!!

First of all, congrats on taking a HUGE step towards changing your lives! I did Insanity before P90X (currently on Week 3) and I loved it! You'll hate the first week, I won't lie. This program is HARD but after 60 days you'll be AMAZED at how much your body has changed!

To answer your question, it is safe to do it on carpet. You're going to be all over the place so a yoga mat (with the exception of ab days) won't really help. You must wear shoes however. No way to do it without. Good cross trainers or basketball shoes work great! Also, and I wished I had done this when doing Insanity, and if you can afford it, get the P90X Rest and Recovery drink. It'll make a HUGE difference in helping get over the soreness. The first week I lived on Ibuprofen and ice packs lol Now I live for the R&R drink!

you should have a good yoga mat for doing the ab routine as well as your recovery week. But during the "normal" workouts you won't be able to stay just on the mat. The great thing about Insanity, and the reason I chose it first, was because you DON'T need a lot of stuff. A water bottle, towel, shoes, an open space and a dvd player is all LOL

Outside of that, you just need to follow the routine and the diet they provide. And trust me when I say this. The diet is KEY! If you don't follow it, you won't come close to reaching your goals. It is by far THE hardest part of the workout. Changing eating habits is something that takes time and sheer will power. Took me 3 weeks to finally get in the groove. I still had a cheat day (usually on the off days). And that's okay. As long as you don't go overboard! Eat four meals from the book and then cheat on one of the others or something like that. Keeps the body guessing. Find as many people on here and close to where you live as you can that do Insanity/P90X/ChaLEAN extreme to help you. Seriously. Finding like minded people will make this journey a blast for you.

I hope this helps, and I apologize for being long winded.

All the best, and please, keep me updated on your progress. I love helping people through this as best I can. Even if it's to tell you to keep pushing play and do your best!

All the best,

Aaron

I agree, you're going to need shoes. It's not advisable to do plyometrics without some type of shoe support. If you're worried about getting the carpet dirty, purchase a pair of good cross trainers just for inside and don't wear them outside. Best of luck to you. I should be starting next week on my first round of Insanity!!!!
