Insanity Month 1 versus Month 2
I'm feeling a bit mentally challenged. First I love lifting weights and cardio. Typically I'm a 2-3 hours workout girl that will always combine the two modalities. Post month 1 of Insanity I felt powerful, strong and saw obvious results in my pictures. Then following the recovery week, I feel as though I've lost some of my strength and power. Am I crazy? I know you should give your body rest; but starting month 2 seemed more difficult because I felt weaker from having a week off.

Secondly, the warm up in month 1 seemed to challenge me more than month 2’s warm up. My body has grown so accustomed to the month 1 warm up that month 2 warm up seems to easy. I've become a bit frustrated with month 2 warm up that I now do a month 1 warm up before month 2’s workout. Again I ask am I crazy?

I feel the exercises in month 2's workout are very challenging; however, they fatigue my upper body muscles so much quicker that I'm unable to complete some of the subsequent moves. I know this is because I'm denser in my lower extremities than my upper and there are several moves that require more upper body strength to support the lower.

Lastly, I love to sweat and boy do I sweat badly: however, I don't sweat with month 2 like I did month 1. I must ask again, AM I CRAZY? What am I missing about month 2? Today I've decided to go back to month 1 for 2 weeks to build up my strength and power again then go back to month 2 to complete the program in 74 days versus 60. Anyone got any ideas to share? I’m really at a loss.

Any input is highly appreciated?
Thanks

Hi Alexius

I wonder whether you're taking in enough calories. Month 1 has a pretty high calorie requirement, but month 2's workouts are even more intense and you need to bump up your calories a bit. If you're staying with the same diet from month 1 then that might be part of the problem.

Month 2 should be much more difficult. It's all new moves and your body is responding becasue your not use to the new moves. Your working your muscles diffrently. You have to dig down and get through it. By the end of month 2 you will be killing it and won't be able to do month 1. Thats why muscle confusion works so well. Hope this helps,

Luke

I share two experiences with you:
first, I believe month 1 warmups are a bit harder. Month 2 warmups have that quick 3rd interval. In month 1, all 3 intervals of the warmup are equally timed. I found that made a big difference.

Second, I also found the recovery week to be too much. I felt weakened instead of refreshed. That may be a personal thing, but I would suggest next time we make a tougher recovery week for ourselves. Maybe a workout every other day?

So no, you're not crazy. emoticon

Alexius,

I'd like to make some suggestions on the following points you made.

First the recovery week: Since you like lifting weights and feel that you lost some strength maybe adding a couple of lifting sessions during the recovery week will address these issues. Perhaps two full body lifting sessions or hitting each body part once during the week, however you want to break it up.

Second, the warmup in month 2 is a bit easier becuase the workouts in month 2 are longer. Shaun T doesn't want us being too fatigued to be able to push through the workouts in month 2. By easing up on the warmup a little we should have enough energy and drive left to go for it during the workout. This might help you complete the workouts in month 2.

I agree with you! My problem is that I find month 2 quite boring after month 1. I went back and did another two weeks of month 1 to try and build up strength thinking month 2 would be more interesting if I were fitter.....not so. I watch the clock the whole way through the month 2 workouts willing it to go quicker. However, I am determined to finish the programme so I will push through until month 2 is finished.
